They will address racism but not rape?

The ignorance in this thread is astounding. .. where's the option to rape other guys ??

The Psychology behind taking a life (long read)

I had ideas for how this would function ingame. Most other aspects of our health are simulated, psychological isn't though. Inconsistency arises from our characters having no repercussions for their actions. I don't want a big brother situation, but if I'm going around playing captain goody-pants, I would expect suddenly shooting a bunch of defenceless survivors to somehow effect my character. I'd further elaborate, but long story short: people hate this idea because it would restrict their ability to act like a battlefield terminator. It's the realism vs. sandbox situation. (Options are great, they're rediculous out of context though)

    Berezino: The New Devil's Playground

Yes, the tanks spawn right beside Mr D's stash of sarcasm grenades near the waffle station.

    Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0

I like this idea because it encourages character interraction to fix the power, and sends out a bit of a 'hey everyone, come kill us' message to the entire server. Opens up huge possibilities for future features.. activating the radio tower etc.

    Kidnapping/ Slave Trafficking/ Cannibalism?

gimp suits.. this seems a bit far fetched. Next we'll have Michonne strutting around with her boyfriends.
  8. Most TS'ers have their own little clique, I think in some ways it may be detracting from the games social system. They play the game within their own little bubble and are completely paranoid of any outsiders to their exclusion. On the bright side, bubbles are fun to pop. With bullets. Bring on direct chat. Strangers are fun. Games are good to get away from your friends.

Would be nice to be able to play...

This is why steam is a pain in the balls.. Is there a shortcut to launch ArmA II:CO? Sounds like it's launching into ArmA II vanilla

Would be nice to be able to play...

This is confusing. because ArmA 2 is also up to version 1.6.0. Double check steam has updated it

Some Players Speed Slower Than Others?

Are the new female skins sexist?

The girl's been running around in the wild for a while, she has naturally strong buns. My only complaint is that there isn't a Zombie face for them. I don't think I can make 'the change' if it means giving up Zombie 1 face.

WTF is happening to the server community.

It's a Zombiepocolypse right? The current system is more like The Hunger Games w/ a side serve of Z. Zombie mechanics need to be the focus. - They need to horde, migrate, genuinely make you shit yourself. They need to be unpredictable. Nowhere should be safe. - They also need to be kept in check by players. There is and will be no end game, but at the moment the game is frozen in time. If players let the zombies run rampant on a server, they shouldn't be able to access half the places they can until they do something about it. Currently they conveniently euthanise themselves. Providing context for people to socially interract is a big drawcard, I think that context has disappeared now that we know where everything is and the ins and outs of zombie behaviour. I also believe there is a silent majority that do not have friends that play DayZ, but would like to group up with people on the fly (Without living in the co-op isolation bubble of teamspeak/vent) yet they seemingly can't. The line between forming a group is drawn by who you know. Isn't that the anti-thesis of zombie survival lore? PvP isn't a problem. It's quite integral to the game actually, but the scales have tipped heavily in its favour and the game risks stagnation. We're in a sandbox, but all we're doing is throwing sand in eachothers eyes. Screams wasted potential to me.

    DayZ Build 1.6.0 Rolling Update

thanks rocket! you deserve lots of beer. Now. Time to switch to female, change name to 'Aileen Wuornos' and do what I was born to do. Because the only good man is a dead man.
  20. I think there already is incentive to team up. It would be nice if there was a better way to team up with people ingame though. Meeting strangers adds a cool unpredictable element, but they're hard to find at the moment. Specifically in reference to people who don't have friends who play DayZ, or who want to jump straight into the action without having to plan a week in advance around peoples personal lives. (also I generally play video games to get the fuck away from my friends and family) Enhanced communication would help basically. A more diverse lobby system etc., that doesn't interfere with the ingamers.

    these are awesome. Bongripper92 :D
  22. I think there definitely still is a 'bandit'. As sandbox as we'd like the game to be, it still has it's restrictions. A sandbox provides options. Whereas most 'games' provide a fairly linear experience which developers have gotten rather good at disguising. The bandit situation tends to stand out like dogs balls because there really is a lack of other options. Our gear and environment are abundant with choice (mostly due to it being a focus of ArmA and something that has had years of work put into it) but when it comes to morality or anything that deviates from self-defense, it's quite underdeveloped. Hence why we have an overly simplified system that feels like it doesn't measure up. It's fight or flight, black and white. (look at me, i'm flying a kite!) It'll take time and work to evolve, but I definitely wouldn't call the current situation a sandbox. That's a bit of an illusion brought about by the fact that your experience is being highly influenced by others, not by underlying game mechanics that cater to human psychology.

Want to know why player cooperation is broken?

You know what's strange, after 1.5.7 dropped.. pretty much every thread was "OMFG I LOVE THE NEW ZOMBIE NUMBERS SO GODDAMN MUCH I PEE'D MYSELF" I don't think I actually saw one thread where people were complaining about the numbers? just the respawn rate. Anyway, it's debatable as to whether more zombies = cooperation. More people means more chance of aggro and a painful death for all. Player coop is broken because we don't have the ability to hand out cupcakes and icecream, metaphorically speaking.
