    Character has been reset?

Quite a few patches ago there was a bug where you would end up on the beach completely fresh (possibly following a new patch or having to force and exit when frozen on a load). I found that going and getting yourself killed on the fresh character tended to fix the issue, finding yourself back on the old character when you re-logged. I haven't experienced that joy in months, but if you haven't achieved too much on the new character it may be worth a try in order to recover your previous progress. Though since it doesn't really bother you, I guess it's no harm - no foul.

Looking for people in NZ to team up.

I could be interested. My current partner is going to be a little busy for the next few months, so I'll add you and maybe we can meet up and have some adventures. My steam should be the same as this account name, so feel free to add me if you find this before I find you.

    DayZ Stories

I awoke on the coast, just west of Cherno. I made my way into the city, and looted the supermarket, the church and headed into the fire station and eventually settled on the roof and logged with some food, a Czech pack and an M911. I rejoin a few hours later, and immediately hear gunfire. It seems that the shots only ring out as I approach one corner of the roof, so I assume someone has sights on me. I continue to crouch on the roof trying to figure out if I am safe to move, and then I see a survivor running at the fire station with an assault rifle and an ALICE pack. It appears that he has come to get me, so I climb up the tower to position myself so that I can get an advantage if it comes to a fire fight. I prone and wait. Thump. Thump. Thump. A zombie is hitting somone.... Thump. Thump.. this goes on for awhile, and then the flies begin. Confused I climb down from my perch, leave the roof and sneak into the fire station to find two zombies and my survivor friend, two of them are dead and one is feeding on a corpse. I kill the remaining zombie and begin looting. I get a full basic kit, AKS-74 Kobra,4 full magazines and a nicer bag. I make my way back to the roof, thank the Zombie God and log out again. After about 4 hours I decide to come see where things lie. As I log in I notice two things. The first is that it is raining, the second that it is near pitch black. I figure that I need to get to shelter, so I climb from the roof and move back into the fire station. I move towards the tower and find a MP5A5. I decide to see if I can clear my bag to put the gun in, so I climb to the top of the tower to get out of the open. I begin eating cans of food, drinking soda and dropping the surplus, while listening out and hearing rain occasionally punctuated by a groan or screech of a zombie... just as I get comfortable with the darkness and rain.. an eerie sound begins playing over the direct comms.. "To the windoooooooooooooooooow, to the wallll". All praise Zombie God! (Was a bit confusing. Fixed)

What gun did you find the first time?

Makarov PM, before the starting gear was changed.

    Gutting Animals recieves no Meat.

I think this is pretty much the answer. The past 3 animals I have found weren't wanting to give me the option to take the meat, however moving around and circling the corpse eventually found the tiny magic spot which brought the option up.

Not everyone is a potential enemy.

I'm in the same position. I find that once I get an effective primary weapon I tend to gravitate towards the wilderness and raid barns/small towns to avoid the pressure of those situations.

Are like half the houses inaccessible?

Nah, not all buildings are enter-able.

Not everyone is a potential enemy.

It would be nice to have more friendly people about so that these kinds of encounters were more common. Today I was approaching the elektro market and saw a player with a pistol at the back entrance. I was unarmed and prone so went in the other direction to avoid the confrontation. He followed which I assumed meant I was about to die. however, we exchanged a "friendly" and he tried to give me an axe (which glitched out). I really appreciated the gesture, he could easily have put a bullet in my head and been on his way. Its nice that there are some people who give up their resources for no other reason than just being friendly.

Billy restored my faith in players

All praise Billy, the patron saint of friendlies. It's nice to hear there are some kind souls wandering these zombie ridden lands.

    Would this PC be enough?

Yeah, I'd suggest buying the components and building it yourself/having a friend who knows their stuff help you build it. You can make quite a powerful machine for a fraction of what those guys charge you, and once you understand how to put it together, it's quite simple to open it up and upgrade components. Ah - in the case I won't be much help... I am utterly clueless in the buying of pre-built PCs ><

My First Newbie Kill in 30 Minutes

I was on the receiving end of something similar... It was when I still thought heading towards Cherno/Elektro was a good way of surviving. I spawned, and quite quickly aggro'd a zed. I figured I would just sprint along the coast and take care of him later. To my surprise another player was in the area and asked if I needed help in chat. I was preoccupied with sprinting from the zed, so he assumed I needed the assistance and put a bullet in my skull. He began to drag me up the beach before I died, too. I have always wondered whether he meant to kill me, or whether he was trying to take the shot and caught me instead...

My first murder and now I feel guilty

Mama.... just killed a man.... put a gun against his head... well, actually I shot him through a window. So yeah, I just committed my first murder in Elektro half an hour ago. I was unarmed and scavenging near the fire station, I met a friendly who decided to go into the station with me. I was lucky and found a G18 in the tower. A minute or two later a guy with an AK wandered in and wasn't shooting so things were going well. For some reason my sound died out (..cat mauled the keyboard and hit the mute) so I hid in a shed near the station and closed the game to try fix it. When I rejoined the server I saw the first guy that had helped me had been killed.. and there was gunfire somewhere near me. I stood up from where I had hidden and saw Mr. AK through the window, shooting a few rounds into a players corpse. Assuming it had been my buddy from earlier, I emptied my G18 clip into him. He was bleeding and ran up the tower to hide, but then carefully climbed back down and tried to get a shot at me through the main doors of the station. I emptied a few more rounds into him and he died. I then looted both corpses and climbed onto the roof, just in time to see a horde of zombies following someone making a b-line for my station. After about 20 minutes it seemed he had scouted around and cleared off so I moved to a higher position on the roof and logged off to recall my traumatic tale. I feel slightly guilty but I feel my actions were justified given the information I had available to me... R.I.P guy who tried to give me an axe but had it glitch out and vanish.
