So, now tents are bugged and do not save any gear

All of my group's gear from pre 1.7.2.5 constantly respawns in tents, and we can't seem to get any new tents to save anything. Luckily, we had a stupid amount of gear pre-patch, but its a bummer we can't move our campsite (been raided numerous times). We've tried, but there's nothing we can do. We're not intentionally duping by any means, but the game has become too easy just knowing we can gear up after a restart if need be. Honestly, I'm for a complete hive wipe of all tents, would do the entire community some good, and get rid of the majority of duped weapons. I'm sure everyone on our server knows exactly where our campsites are at now, and everyone constantly raids them for gear. No hacked weapons, but we have NVGs/SVDs/5+ AS 50s, Ghillies, etc, all there were found legitimately off of players or crash sites. The duping is out of control, we really need a Hive wipe and force everyone to use what they got, and a fix for the tents and vehicles in general. -
Potential Graphical Artifacting Fixes

Im not touching Tray Tools after my last fiasco with the Tray Tools driver/ATI drivers/ my XFX HD6970 2GB card. Having it installed caused multiple artifacting problems across many games, including all three Mass Effects and Battlefield 3. Any time an explosion occurred i received a burst of pixelated smoke, and the BF3 sun on one map constantly tweaked out. I completely forgot it was installed, and had worked fine with my old 4870, so I actually RMAed the card....and got a brand new one in return, which did the same thing. I then went into Device manager, saw that it was there, and uninstalled.... which fixed my problem. If anyone else that had a recent model card (6000 or 7000 series)that plays any of the games I mentioned above could check and see if they are having the same problems I described, it would be great. I WANT to fix it, but I don't want to break my computer again. I've tried the PBO editing, and I can say it 100% removes dead body artifacting, but screws up the checksums the server is looking for and most will kick you for it. After failing with the Proxy man object, I tried it with the Dog object.... Still got kicked every 10-20 mins, but here is a picture... http://i.imgur.com/1dbRE.jpg All the dead soldiers turned to dogs! Alas, I have reverted back to the original PBO and will probably sit tight until the next patch comes out. EDIT: Editing YOUR PBOs only changes what YOU see in game, not what other people see. Editing the Dayz.pbo file will NOT cause a BattlEye ban as you are NOT injecting anything into the server, but you are kicked because the checksum generated from the new DAYZ.PBO file is not the same as the checksum the server is looking for. At least, thats my understanding of it all. -
Will Green Mountain be in the standalone?

I believe it adds to the already edgy atmosphere; There's already zombies, whats to say that Ghosts can't appear? The Green Mountain mythology has already been played upon (successfully) by hackers; imitating dead bodies, then rolling their heads, that sort of thing. Normal players have scared the hell out of people too, using small .mp3 files, like this guy does here: I honestly believe Ghosts/hauntings would compliment the zombie threat very nicely. As a side note, I also want Tractors to be able to stack/build haybale walls, horses on farms that are rideable, faster boats (PBX is fine, the rest are garbage),helicopters that don't despawn, and many more which I won't list. -
Bumping again. 2,000 views but no official comments :(. I created another post on General Discussion linking to this, may have been good for a few hits, but still no official comments. Everyone just keep bumping and maybe it will succeed, I'm tired of artifacting.

I am reposting Combos solution to dead body artifacting here, along with the thread he created in the troubleshooting forum to garner more attention. I take no credit, and we are simply looking for official mod/Dev team comments on this fix. I recommend CPBO instead of PBO Viewer, as I couldn't figure the latter out. Any official comments on this fix would be greatly appreciated!

Dead Body Artifacting SOLVED

I have an I7 920 Nehalem, ASROCK SUPERCOMPUTER mobo, XFX ATI 6970 2GB, Win 7 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, and same resolution, and I artifact HORRIBLY around dead bodies, and this solution solved it. I believe this could be an official fix, but the Devs would have to implement a new checksum for servers to look for, as modifying the PBOs results in non-approved checksums, which results in kicks... at least that is my understanding based on the other thread. Honestly, this fix takes 5 minutes to do on the user end, and saves hours of troubleshooting to figure out what is causing the artifacting for each client, as everyone seems to have a slightly different cause, but the same problem. It doesn't fix the barbed wire, but barbed wire doesn't cause nearly as much artifacting as the bodies do on my end. -

I'd like to see the Green Mountain mythology continued and expanded on in the standalone, going as far as actually implementing ghosts and other weird stuff there. I'd actually like to see hauntings occur in other places too; theres a hilarious video on youtube of the "Slenderman hacker", heres the vid: I'm not endorsing hacking, but some of the non-thunderdome/teleport stuff they've done is kinda cool, lol. -

Check out the Graphics Artifacts fix a few posts below yours; its a widespread issue and hundreds of thousands of players have it. -
Bumping. BTW, use CPBO to unpack/pack the PBO files. PBO View doesn't seem to allow the repacking. For CPBO, after installing, simply right click the dayz.pbo file, highlight all files under it, and click extract/unpack. It will create a folder called dayz inside of the addons folder, and you can modify the files there. When done copy/pasting the 3 proxy mans, rename them to what the the solider names were, per the initial post. When done, right click and repack the whole folder, and it will ask you to replace the current PBO (make sure to save the original PBO somewhere else first!) Select copy and replace and you are done. :) Edit: This does not fix the barbed wire artifacting, but it is much less game-crippling than the dead body artifacting. You can actually look at an airfield without having a seizure.

I'm bumping. I can 100% confirm that this works, and have been kicked every ~10-20 mins from my home server... I also varied the steps up a bit when "Proxy man" kept getting me kicked, so I used the Dog object instead. Same result, but funny picture: http://imgur.com/1dbRE Just going to revert back to the original unmodified version for now until a Dev team or someone can comment on this.

I manually *updated* which didnt do any good... eventually I stop getting kicked when BattlEye decided the master server was running and finally updated.... I actually did NOT get the global ban message, however. Lol. Probably got kicked 4-5 times in the meantime though. -

Np, I wouldn't post it if it was still there :) We've actually lost both motorcycles, Russian 4x4, and both trucks to various bugs/ponds/ raids already. It was from a while ago. Most of those we found in spawn locations, others from we acquired from campsites or random road encounters. Hoarding is a semi-issue, depending on how bad the hoarding is. For giggles, I stuck the bus in the Cherno fire station and stuck a tank trap behind it... 24 hours later it hadn't made it past the train tracks. EDIT: Bottom line is, vehicles aren't that rare when you know where to look. ATVs are commonly found at Solinichy bridges, campsites are fairly easy to predict, and you may happen on vehicles on the northern dirt roads looking for choppers. Bring an AS50 and shoot the car; note where its at, and come back after server restart. Voila. -

I think i did it right using CPBO... alas, I got kicked after a few minutes in game. :(. I'll try again as I see the logic behind why this would work. EDIT: Still getting kicked after about 10 mins or so... Guess I gotta use the artifacting version :( EDIT 2: Still getting kicked, but I was able to make it to Green Mountain. Artifacting is gone! I'm wondering if the script that looks for people who turn their grass/trees off is kicking me... I'll try a different server and see what happens, i guess. -

With school starting back up, a lot of them won't be on as much. I myself will be starting college at the ripe old age of 23, and won't be on as much either. Someone suggested on another thread that the daily player count going down rapidly was because of school, and I agree. Like it or not Age restrictions on video games do almost nothing; my brother in law plays Gears of War with my 3 year old niece :/. I don't agree with that, but there' nothing I can do as he is on the other side of the country. Kids nowadays, boys and girls, grow up with constant online media exposure, which I personally didn't have before I was 16. They play Wii, Call of Duty, Iphone games, and Facebook when they're not doing the previous things. Like it or not, younger and younger gamers will invade the "mature" market for ANY FPS, and to an extent, RPGs. Certain games like The Witcher 2 will always have a primarily mature market, as its content just isn't desirable to 13 year olds, even if there are boobs. Any and all FPS' have a strong immature community because of the social media barrage they grew up on; they love multiplayer and playing with friends, and CoD. BF3, Gears of War, and many more cater to that fact. ARMA II's non hacking community is fairly mature to most FPS overall, even for the younger folks. And lets face it, we all do stupid shit in game.... I stuck a bus in the Cherno Fire station, blocked it with a tank trap, and watched the carnage. 24 hours later the Bus had made it to the train tracks and was immobile. I wonder how many people died trying to get that damn bus.... -
Hey man, same thing h Hey man, same thing happened to me the other day. Login, *you were killed*, spawn in Debug plains. Logout, then back in, and i'm on the coast with nothing but my ghille I was wearing. Also had an L85 on me :/. Murders, Bandit kills, and zombie kills all remained the same, however.

Between my group of 4, we have a stupid amount of gear that was not duped. Vehicles+crashed helis is the easiest way to gear up, period. Granted, my on-foot learning curve was ~ 1 week, vehicles/ tents ~1 week, and crashed choppers ~ 3 days. After about 2 1/2 weeks of play on a home server gearing up is easy, and once you memorize the map you can easily predict where choppers might be, vehicle spawns, and even campsites. After about a month of mod play you know how/where vehicles respawn when blown up, see the signs of a hacker, and to stash things in multiple sites across the map. I learned everything the *hard way*, server hopping the Elektro/Cherno Sniper hills is just as bad as doing it for the NWAF or intentionally duping items. -

Find a zombie, stick it on the body, hide body. You will die and it will get spread around like the plague. Many servers ban on sight of an AS 50 TWS, because its ridiculous. The L85 is a great spotter, shitty weapon, and is the best counter to Elktro/Cherno/Stary SVD+Ghillie snipers. The L85 balances the game, the AS 50 TWS owns every other weapon. -

Get a group of friends (3-4), get the Russian 4x4, and drive around Stary/Vybor/Dirt roads looking for Heli spawns. It really helps if you can have a home server, make friends with the admins, that kind of thing. ATVs are common, check the bridges around Solinichy, as they flip on them. Check vehicle spawns repeatedly using the DayZDB map. Run around the northern and western boundaries looking for tent cities Tents are borderline permanent right now, whats in them doesn't ever disappear, taking stuff out and flattening them doesn't do anything. We currently have a boatload (5-7) AS 50s, 107s, a few SVDs, 1 L85, 240, 249, NVGs, DMRs and M4 Holos. We do not intentionally dupe anything, all of the AS50s were accumulated from helis or survivors. When moving campsites, we've taken all of our stuff out, moved it, only to have it eaten/respawn in old tents on restarts. We are not exploiting the game. The last campsite we raided was east of Stary. Were just running and found the red UAZ in a tree and campsite nearby. As we were looting it, 4 guys in a Russian 4x4 rolled up, and met their deaths by an SVD and L85, and we got both of their vehicles. Gearing up is easy, you just have to know where to look, and AS50/NVG/107 people are NOT hackers, they're probably just better than you. -
It seems to be working now, at least kind of. I was able to pick up items with a 15 second delay :/. Oh well, Ill try again tomorrow, no biggie.
