    Holy crap wow that video threw me back so hard. The nostalgia is real. On the aspect of those points, i do believe through out the development the devs have spoken about each point albeit not as in depth i guess. Most of them have been scattered or lost throughout the years and i really do hope they centralize all that info into something other than a status report. Perhaps they should put it on their roadmap page instead of what they currently have now which is 2 years outdated.
  2. Yea aggro range seems to be really short now iirc. Like zombies should be startled by the tiniest movement or noise tbh. Like running beside a wall with a zombie on the other side should make them aggro. (Not at you but aggro in general) Not to mention when they bring in the new zombie sounds coupled with the eden system like distant zombie screams (from aggroing) etc that'll be great.

    PREVIEW PROGRAM

    That would take too many man hours to do effectively cutting the amount of time they could use on working on .63 in half. I think i speak for most of the community that we would prefer them prioritize .63 than anything else. And i'm sure that's what they're doing right now.

    They probably don't want to state much about this as their current goals as of now is to get .63 and the new anim/player controller system implemented. And there seems to be no information regarding what will come after .63. (Hopefully they can do a sound overhaul) But i have no doubt that we'll eventually touch on this before 1.0 hits.
  5. AFAIK these features are the result of being in Alpha where features and systems are rudimentarily implemented to show concept or test in a live version. And the argument can be made to say "why did they spend the time on these useless features and work on more important ones like the player controller or renderer?". But were not entitled to know the answer to that. We should just be glad they're working on the major features now.

    That's true, but we gotta remember with this whole "wish more devs would discuss stuff on forums" is that there aren't that many fluid English speakers on the dev team. (AFAIK)

    Ahh i actually can't wait for when they decide to show a preview of the player controller. Like just a recording of one of their testers pressing the WASD keys and what it translates to on screen.

    In terms of the new tree models they look great. Something about the whole scene however looks off. I reckon its just the lighting.

    Natural dynamic indoor and outdoors sound

    They obviously plan on expanding on the sound update they did for guns but this is a matter for the programming team and they're currently extremely busy on preparing for .63 and the new player controller etc. I do however wish we heard more from the actual sound guy (forgot his name) that they hired (in 2015?) of any recent field recordings of environments or any samples he has ready for when they decide to update them.

    @Weyland Yutani (DayZ) It looks the same because of the lighting. Also because of just that scene consisting of very few bushes/clutter. (Similar to the birch trees up north of cherno) The game suffers from the lack of a more global lighting like darker shadows appearing in areas with little to no exposure to light. (Like indoors) This makes the scene look very flat which is what most people would feel when they see it. EDIT: Found something i saw on UE forums ages ago and finally found the vid. Obviously, its UE and i'm expecting too much from DayZ's engine in its stage but ONE CAN DREAM OK!? @Espa I don't think that's right. They move the same, even the trees swaying are moving as one rather than separate branches and leaves.

    SVD / GLOCK19 sounds

    Wow I just realized that you can't see the weapon's cocking animation when they're fire from another player. Hope they fix that. Bonus: Would be nice if they made it so there's visible recoil impact on the player model's wrist when firing. Would make it look so much more fluid rather than the player looking up a tiny bit after each shot. (From another player's perspective)

  13. The guy i replied to was talking about Arma 3 Exile mod. I know that the dev for exile quit awhile ago.
  14. wot Jokes aside i know what you mean, but you have to praise BI to allow such intricate modding opportunities to provide you with such satisfaction. (Exile)
  15. The general lighting in the game could use some tinkering. Like darker shadows, darker lighting during lots of cloud cover or even when indoors or in forests. One of my pet peeves is how bright forests are when in reality that amount of leaf coverage should make it fairly dark.
  16. Didn't Arma 3 alpha have a fix to this problem? I can't seem to find any threads relating to it but this picture was posted ages ago when it was introduced. I read that this was from a thread by SmashT on this forum ages ago. I'm sure the devs have something planned for this issue and it would be one of the things they will want to fix.

    Itens with highlight/border when very close

    Though i do sorta agree it just isn't viable when you need to give someone something really quickly ie bandages. If they add a direct exchange method like holding out an item and letting the other player take it directly then that'll be great. Otherwise this is really good.

    2016 In Review

    This entire year has been the best for DayZ so far. So many huge changes, they really outdid themselves. Bravo.
  21. I can imagine with the update on forest density it'l be harder to notice the "pop in to existence" but also what if they spawn in bushes/trees/houses and have them wander out?

    PKM Discussion Thread

    Only problem I see is how terrible it would be to shoot that weapon with the current weapon sway and huge recoil it might have. Would be nice to be able to deploy the bipod which would reduce recoil and sway. Also would be beast if we could hip fire it without the horrendous walking gun sway.

    .62 Chernarus Visual Update Wishlist

    Have they talked about whether they can implement volumetric lighting and global illumination to the new engine? Like atmospheric light scattering in that vbs3 video released awhile back. Or torch lights not just lighting up a circle on your screen.
