    I think by white he means less saturated. I actually like the new grass color. Makes the world feel more lively and vivid. But i'd also like grass to have better ambient occlusion on it to give it a bit more depth.

    @libertine Yea games like those utilize the "beta" phase to generate more hype and publicity before it is fully released. Not to mention to get more people to pre-order the game. But i won't say its not ineffective ;) I preordered the new battlefront game.

    @pilgrim* That's a good point but at this point nobody can know for sure. I mean the devs have stated themselves that certain things WONT be in until AFTER 1.0. Not sure what specifically but I know they've said that for a few features. And given that modding tools will be released before 1.0 i'm sure people are going to add things in before hand. But sure your point can be made that you shouldn't depend on modding to be a "be all end all" situation. (I actually don't know if that's the proper phrase lol)

    Character turning

    On the matter of character turning. It says it's scaled with character speed which makes your turn radius larger the faster you're going right? Why not make it so turning sharply while moving staggers your character speed instead? I mean try it in real life you'll know what i mean. When you run and try turning 90+ degrees you automatically brace your body with your leg to prevent falling from inertia. Just throwing out them ideas. edit: just realized i described your regular inertia based movement.

    For most AAA games that utilize Beta/Early access systems as a marketing gimmick. But for games especially indie Beta can't really be a judge of how complete a game is. And to be honest it's neither because people have been throwing around beta/alpha words like its some judgement of development progress when it's not really. Like you think they'd stop adding more to the game once it's reached beta or full release? Look at games like Minecraft or League of Legends. Both were indie and are now fully released and yet it's content has expanded ten fold since then.

    @pilgrim* Remember when you had random fence or sticks snapping sounds play randomly and it would freak you out? That was good times... Anyway if something like this isn't implemented by 1.0 then it can easily be modded in.

    @Sqeezorz Although a good idea with gears letting you limit your speed I would probably prefer a keybind that lets you accelerate at a consistent speed you are at. Example: hold W to accelerate normally and when you reach say 43 km/h hold CTRL+W which will limit the speed to that. Also in regards to actual gear shifting my dream is to have a system similar to spintires (though i know a lot of people would dislike that lol)
  10. @libertine Hard to find binos? They spawn so frequently on deer stands its almost impossible NOT to find one during a regular session.

    @Sqeezorz This is quite right. Creating maps take a huge amount of time and if anything the tools for it should be released first. But hopefully previously made maps for arma 3 can be converted too.

    I personally don't care if eye-zoom gets removed from the game but i'd rather prefer if the devs figure out this LOD problem. Some how making seamless LOD changes and optimizations so it's less noticeable when scoping/flying towards the objects. At the moment it seems that many games do not really bother with the visual implementation of LOD and focus on its purpose of performance improvements (Which is good but also bad). I know its contradictory to have quality LOD (when LOD's function is to REDUCE the quality of objects the further the viewer is from it) but i just thought fixing or improving it to support these things would be a priority for a new future engine.

    I somehow forgot about the long wait time between changing servers because most of my play sessions involve one server for a few hours then a regular log off. I do remember now that I and a lot of others were fine with the wait time. It was just a consideration I brought up that I don't personally hate. So yeah you're both right.

    2-3 mins for your body to stay in the last server after you've logged out? That would mean you have to wait the remaining duration to spawn back in when you log into another server. (I can see people complaining about it) You can't have two instances of your character spawned in on two different servers or else you'll have to deal with conflicts. edit: But of course this issue is not a problem for private hives, probably another reason why the devs wanted characters to be single server only.

    @pilgrim* I've always been under the assumption that your body stays for 30 seconds after you've logged out. That's why they put a timer for when you change servers because you have to wait for your body on the previous server to disappear before entering a new one because what happens when your character dies after you logged out and you were in the middle of logging in to another server. Anyway gotta some tests to find out.

    This is an interesting statement because this raises the question... What is base building going to be like in DayZ? But the bigger question should be... Will it be fun and worth while? I see things like no item security, the volatile nature of your base, backstabbers and disorganization like in the Village and it makes me skeptical on the direction base building will go.

    With BETA comes modding

    I am sure this is 99% going to happen for modding. I believe the devs stated mods (addons) will be through steam workshop. However i'm wondering if people are getting confused with client side and server side modding. If you guys are worried about server owners doing x1000 loot, death match pvp balota and spawn with guns (server side) then there probably isn't a way to prevent that unless the devs come out and state servers like that are disallowed. We'll have to see.

    Source? Am a bit skeptical.But i'm all for it not being the case for .63. It just looks jarring to me.

    This is what DayZ needs.

    I do actually like how they do camo in that game where the player just doesn't end up rendering if they're hiding in a bush etc. The third person thing however doesn't look that great. I've seen modders do it in arma 3 and the fact that they just disappear on screen is a bit jarring.

    Trying to avoid heated discussions here but i think he's right. The true dayz experience (the one devs are striving towards) hasn't arrived yet. What we've been given is different designs of gameplay such as more loot/less loot, spreading of mil items, moved coastal spawns etc. If you can recall back into pre .60 the versions were never really the same. We'd have super cold weather on one patch, eternal night in another or the lootsplosion patch. Never concrete or defined.
