I would like to see a player easily be able to express their intentions from a distance.
StickyNote replied to gangrenetvp's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I had a similar idea posted here for identifying intent from a distance. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30706-neutral-and-agressive-stances/page__hl__stances Does not include flags though, and was more realisticly oriented. -
I would like some sort of recognition thing like this. Realistically, people you meet, and group up with, you'd be able to remember their faces. Instead you have to identify them by their skin which is rather hazy since we have repeating skins and they all look similar, the gear they're carrying, or properly identifying themselves via voice which is also spotty. I don't like it when I group up with someone, get separated temporarily, then get shot in the face thinking some other person's the same guy I was just with.

Its an M1911!!! -minirant

Part of the reason I don't like Colt. They slap their name onto designs and pretend it's theirs, when Colt has had very few successful original designs. Just like with the m1911 designed by the glorious John Moses Browning, and the M16 which is the militarized version of the AR-15 based off the designs of Eugene Stoner from ArmaLite. Just for those who don't know, the AR-15 is NOT a sporterized version of the M16. The AR-15 came first, militarized, then designated the M16 by Colt after the rights were sold to them. -
When I have fists and you have an Assault Rifle
StickyNote replied to Keylime314's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You'd be right about him wasting ammo if ammo wasn't all easy as hell to find. Like it's been said, the mod has devolved to the point where for a large number of people, socializing has been limited to shooting on sight, and the thrill of survival means nothing more than hunting down every player you see. -
Can someone explain the point of ALT-F4
StickyNote replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Arma II wasn't built with this kind of stored character data in mind but more along the lines of traditional FPS's where you have your battle performance logged in the instance when you're playing in a server. Thus alt+f4 was never an issue, just like in games like battlefield, quake, or CoD. Whether or not the engine is capable of leaving a character in the game world and continue recording the status of that character after after the player disconnects, or if the DayZ team has yet to figure out how to do it is unknown to me. -
[Suggestion] Zombie Movement
StickyNote replied to lordshiding@hotmail.nl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agree once again. There seems to be a a large number of people who agree on how the zombies should be to make them challenging, rather than the simple annoyance they are now. Hopefully we see some of these suggestions be put into effect soon as zombies are the root of this game, and the cause for many problems as it is. I'd add to your suggestions that zombies also slow the player down on hit though, as to reduce the ability to simply flee while tracking a horde of zombies, and forcing more player v zombie combat. The current unwillingness of people to fight zombies right now, despite having tons of ammo and supplies to do so is weird. -
A couple of suggestions
StickyNote replied to legendaryfish12@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Please no chainsaws and swords. IRL I'd wield a fence post or a kitchen knife before I start swinging a chainsaw. Swords are just silly. Also I think the morphine injectors are fine as it is. We just need to be able to cobble together a splint so we can hobble to a hospital for morphine. -
Put the 'player disconnected' message back in game
StickyNote replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Witnesses. Or even seeing them before they die should be acceptable. You'll respawn, and so will the bandit after someone kills him. The whole anonymity thing really lets people let loose without worries. No one will know of their crime so they can really do whatever they want without fear of retribution. Also it makes teamwork difficult as it's hard to recognize each other. -
Put the 'player disconnected' message back in game
StickyNote replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The whole preserving anonymity thing is BS. IRL you'd be able to recognize faces, and if you disconnect enough, you should gain notoriety for doing so. Same with banditry in my opinion. -
I think the problem was they were made more annoying, not challenging. Zombies that ran straight at you upon detection, ran roughly the same speed as you, could hit on the run, swarmed, and slow you down on hit would be so much better and challenging, and support zombie combat, versus running 25 miles an hour, not being able to hit you on the move, and doing very little damage. Never disconnected myself, and hid in a corner when I had like 10 minutes of this guy stalking me while i was holed up in a control tower. Had 6 1911 rounds and died fighting. Worst I experienced was this terrible terrible shot of a sniper on the roof of the NW airfield control tower. Missed me really bad, I ran off to some trees, located him, stalked him, popped a m203 smoke, and he disconnects. Didn't even fire on him yet. Decide to check out what the guy was sitting on in the control tower, and snuck up. He reconnects across the airfield, and starts missing me like crazy again. I run back to the trees once again to reassess, and once again he had disappeared by disconnecting.

I'm pretty sure those are just integral parts of the map from Arma II . I find it highly unlikely US soldiers will be deployed to a foreign country to deal with a zombie outbreak, and much more likely they'll remain on home soil to protect the nation. Regardless, weapons like antimateriel rifles are rarely deployed, and probably would not ever be deployed against zombies. Plus, due to their weight, size, need for extra equipment, these are usually deployed in 2-3 man teams to fully support the weapon.

Stop complaining about 'hackers'
StickyNote replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think that the amounts of complaints is proportional to how much a problem needs to be fixed. It's not that hard to avoid reading topics that talk about hackers and does not affect your forum browsing at all. -
"Increased rare spawn chance" incentive to not be a bandit
StickyNote replied to JPgator96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nightvision probably wasn't the best example. More along the lines of the top of the line sniper rifle in this game, or a ghille suit. Completely unnecessary with dealing with zombies, yet we all hunt them down, and their only real benefit is towards PvP. Regardless, by the time you find nightvision, you're probably already decked out well enough to not need to rely on it. -

StickyNote replied to JPgator96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's kind of a penalty for killing people. Regardless the better gear is for PvP anyways. I think that's part of the problem. Who needs nightvision to kill zombies
