    Wilderness Survival Aspects

I made a thread on the animals running away because of smell, sight and hearing so yes I do agree with OP
  2. I am a guy who appreciates the smallest things in the game. I appreciate your feedback guys I don't fully understand how this makes it into more of a fantasy game Like I said I want to feel more 'me' when I look at my avatar, instead of bog standard survivor, but I'm not going to ram my opinions down your throat! :D
  3. AHAHA! Made me ROFL! Would love to hear more people's views on my suggestion!
  4. Like I said guys, I don't want a skill tree but i would like a small class trait to help people show their own individual playstyle. I agree that people are pretty much the same nowadays but i feel that if we could do something that adds one thing but takes another aspect for each class, we could make survival harder for each role as they could not do everything like we can now ingame. But as Ive seen in the past people don't want classes so i suggested a small dumbed down version which gives people the same ingame experience but also allows people their own little creative twist to their avatar.
  5. As I said first off rant and I know this isn't the place to do it but if I don't i'll forget, but it really REALLY does my nut in when I see people make daft suggestions like (all of these over-exaggerated, but you get the point): Lets add Tanks into Dayz!!!! TAZERS TO STUN PEEPS! Handcuffs to take down people?! please can we try to make it as 'basic' as possible, it is the Apocolypse. Anyone agree with me? Everyone must have seen one of these kind of posts. Another one is adding pooping to dayz. *shudders* we want realism, yes, but not THAT much realism. Rant over. Anyhoo my suggestions... and a story to explain. When I first tried to sell this game to my best friend I was like... OMG and you skin animals for meat and it gives great health. So he was like 'isn't that hunting then', but i thought about it but it isn't. My first suggestion: Make animals scared of you. I hate the fact that if you find any animal that isn't a rabbit and you can skip merrily towards it and all they do is practically stare at you with their mouth open before you gun it in the face. You don't see crossbow dude (I love crossbow in game) from walking dead sprint at a deer laugh at it's face and then shoot it with a bolt. I would like to see some sort of feature where you literally would have to stalk (for example) a boar, hiding in bushes to avoid line of sight, keeping low and crawl to get closer just incase it hears you. Maybe add some sort of smell meter for the animals? I would like to have a person who is in desperate need of blood to get frustrated because he keeps scaring away the wild life. This leads on to my next suggestion. Second Suggestion: Maybe adding some use for the bear trap or adding some other traps to help aid in hunting animals. HOWEVER I would like to see this idea ingame but I don't want to see a very good zombie survival game turn into deer hunter 2012 soon to be 2013. However I'll leave this suggestion to lie with your minds. Third Suggestion: I would like to see some sort of character skill trait of some sort. I know Rocket said he didn't want one but hear this one out. I'm not looking for a talent tree... I'm not looking for some over powered - i'll be a soldier class +50 % reload speed + 50% accuracy and that sort of crap. The problem with dayz is that everyone is the SAME, everyone can operate a .50 cal, to do complex blood transfusion, and with that in mind I feel like a sheep in a field with everyone else. But I would be able to CONNECT more with my avatar if I had some sort of play style that would actually be represented ingame. E.g. Athelete - 5% speed increase whilst running, tkaes longer to get out of breath maybe, 15-20 seconds Medic - 5% healing speed, whatever some sort of healing mechanics are implemented in standalone that healing is more effective (heals more, does more) 5% Soldier - 5% more accuracy whilst standing up Mechanic - Maybe can fix cars with less or something along the lines. Now like I said these figures are examples but what I'm trying to show is that these small example could help people express their true play style. Why do you think people spend time being 'chernarus medics', because they want to be seen as useful and helpful in a team or to the public. Now I understand that not everyone wants this, and yes you could argue that some skills could be void/ useless unless in certain circustances (but that can be changed to help people with that play style to be incorporated into the game without being OP) and that everyone needs to be on an even field, but hey, that just my suggestion to you lovely folks. Now my final suggestion: (should have been suggestion 3 just because its more relevant to suggestion 1+2) Make wooded areas more foresty, so people can hide more and animals can hide in the wilderness, it just makes for a more suspensed filled cat-and-mouse firefight in the woods instead of hiding behind a tree and seeing through a almost bare wood/forest. I would love to hear you opinions and maybe suggestions on expanding my suggestions and whether you would like to see any of these ingame or not for standalone. Peace out people! Wolfy
  6. Me and a friend attacked a clan, stole their car in 'prig' and then made a camp after finding quite a number of vehicles throughout the map on our journey. This consisted of 2 atvs, a motorbike, 2 cars (one is the stolen one), a little speedboat dinghy, 2 tractors and a fishing boat (God knows why i saw it and wanted it). At this stage the longest time we had a car was about 30 mins before the server crashed and the car disappeared into a cyber blackhole I logged on today and decided to see if my little brother had managed to get back to camp with one of the ATVs safely I stumble across a HUGE cloud of dust, so my first instinct is to sweep round and see if it is a smoke grenade or something more sinister... Turns out it was a group of hackers (one by the name Leo) and it was a landing helicopter. Now at the time we didn't know it was hackers, but as usual I engage them unseen and they all disconnect... Fair enough I have the cars parked in front of the helicopter and a empty helicopter which i quickly seize. I then locate another helicopter landed just across from camp so I pick a clan member up form green mountain and try to quickly seize a second helicopter... We then spot the hackers (still don't know) and engage them from the air... 1 disconnects and the other couple return fire so I flee. I then land and tell my clan member to try and get a car or something and we'll hide again. Just as I lift off I get teleported to the southern coast and what happens to be in my flight path... A forest... we both die and spawn to the merry INFERNO of cherno and electro and all other villages... At this point we were a bit miffed we had some laffs and giggles but really? What the hell is the point in spawning helicopters in the game. Also I think they may have hacked the helicopter radar cause there was no way on earh they could have located all of our spread out vehicles... A good mile between them. Hackers... destroyed my camp bubble today. :'D

    Suggestion for new city

I do like the idea of having more CQC like tightly packed hallways and streets and I think that an expansion for the map is a swell idea as well. However I believe that rocket doesn't want any other type of zombie e.g. 'special infected' but good idea none-the-less. :D

    Making looting more realistic!

To Razzi - I didn't say it was broken nor does it need fixing. I said that I felt it was a good idea to make the survivors actually LOOT the building instead of walking in and picking up a can or bandage off the floor. I feel the loot is practically handed to you.

    game modes?

Guys what I said was that I would like to see people trying to do what I said in-game, I didn't mean it as a new 'game mode' cause I agree with you all that it would ruin the game and plus there are more than plenty of pvp lobbies on the multiplayer.

    game modes?

What I would like to see, maybe not so much of a game mode in itself but... I would like to see a squad deathmatch server, (or servers that are admin'd to only let certain people in after the sign up their squad) where all the squads would meet up at a certain point of their choice and then are let loose on the world of chernarus where they have 2 hours to loot for everything they need (importance to medic characters and such) and then they have to hunt down and fight each other in a specified area of the map ranging from one city to maybe 3 small villages. What do you think?

    Making looting more realistic!

Can I please ask that you guys keep the comments relevant to the OP? I don't want half of the comments complaining that the same idea has been spoken for. To be quite frank I would rather have 100 of the same comments instead of 1 person. I want to see if people actually like this idea or not. Thanks!

    Making looting more realistic!

To Deviant I agree with this completely, although I do see some loot spawning on the ground as 'mess' to be quite atmospheric to the game, of course with my idea I did not specify how much loot where. I don't want people to think that I picture completely clean houses that have nicely packed wardrobes that have a chance to spawn skins.. Maybe a couple of empty tins on the floor where the last 'survivor' came and looted but most of the items to be in ideal storages. (if that makes sense)

    Making looting more realistic!

To LOGIN - Of course I understand the servers and ARMA 2 doesn't support fridges and shelfs and god knows what else you find in the supermarket and shizzle but I hope that if the game becomes stand alone that this idea would be implemented. I do like your idea of someone else already having looted the building and leaving a mess. Maybe some loot spawns on the floor e.g. empty cans, whisky bottles, and maybe some water bottles. I just don't understand why someone would leave a revolver in one room then you go into the other and theres a makarov as well. :P

    Making looting more realistic!

To prkrsr - You have a fair point but in my mind, yes it is more time consuming but I don't like the fact that all you have to do is go into a house look at the contents and then choose if you need anything then leave... I feel that if this idea was implemented into the game you would have to actually 'loot' the house until you found what you needed. Plus if you think of the long term it would also slow down the rate of people getting to the metagame stages of the game, which would also mean slowing down the rate that the majority of people run north -> scan loot spawns -> gets epic loot -> has nothing else to do apart from survive, gets bored and camps out popular areas for pvping.
  15. Hey fellow survivors! So I'm walking down the road with my girlfriend and BAM! Suddenly hits me! Why on 'Gods-Green-Earth' does the loot spawn on the ground for you to simply walk over to and pick up. I mean who walks into a house and then finds 20 cans of coke on the floor. So my suggestion is (probably not possible though) add some sort of loot 'box/storage' that the loot spawns in, e.g. You walk into a house looking for some ammo maybe a cool drink of coke, you walk over to a cupboard or a shelf and then loot the shelf to see if the loot has spawned there. That means the specified house doesn't look like a Coke truck has poured its contents on the floor and you would have to actually search around more instead of looking around the floor seeing if you need anything and leaving again without sparing a second thought. (Hope this is making sense :P) As always your feedback would be appreciated to see if I'm not the only one who feels like this! Thanks for spending time to read this!
