To the two that KOS'd at NW last night.

Robbing people is not that easy and puts yourself at risk, I have successfully robbed people and then there are the times I have been murdered by the guy in their group I did not notice. Your post reads like the thousands of other people who have been frustrated by KoS, you will now KoS because someone else did it to you. Maybe the guys who killed you fell into the same frustration loop and now KoS since it has happened to them so many times. Chernarus has never been a friendly place, people who are still idealistic just think it still has a chance to be friendly.

    OH MY GOD-Check this!

BF4 has single handedly destroyed the brand for many longtime battlefield fans so I wouldn't use that as a good reference. Early Access titles are starting to get stale, by the time development is completed many customers have already moved on. Rust is doing a complete overhaul but I doubt it will ever be as popular as their bare bones early access product and as a fan of games it sucks to be over a concept before it is fully fleshed out. As an impatient hypocrite I also end up purchasing many of these games so I get that companies are going to try to cash in on that impulse. Loved the mod and still have hopes for the standalone, but I am tired of the early access model. One thing I don't get is the fans turning on Dean Hall, he has always seemed brutally honest about the shortcomings of this game and even actively tried to tell many customers to wait to pay money for the standalone. Not many developers would be willing to actively derail their own hype train so if people want to blame someone for buying a bare bones early access title look in the mirror.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Lol hackers suck and all but that guy 3rd person camping was an exploiting asshole himself. Oh no someone cheated to counter my cheat, that bastard. FYI I am not even 100% against 3rd person, but people like that guy make it hard to defend.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

One of the problems with BF4 and BF3 was the size of the maps coupled with the small server sizes on consoles. I built my computer right after BF3 released and I did enjoy it on Xbox but after playing it on PC I realized I had been playing BF3 lite edition. The current generation consoles can host larger servers (I think, I don't own one since I am no longer a broke college student) which could make it more appealing to the constant action crowd. But those are shooting games and if I am in the mood for an FPS I do want more action than the small servers on large maps BF3 offered on Xbox 360 and PS3. I think there is a market for a game like DayZ on PS4 even if it is just a niche market. I have buddies who only own consoles who have been interested in DayZ for quite some time. If the game comes out in a more complete state it might even enjoy mainstream success as it has on PC.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Good for Bohemia, I have been secretly critical of the SA (meaning I don't complain on the forums since I did get the game for free from the company) but I still think it can be something worth playing eventually. Those who did not sink tons of hours into the mod can even enjoy the bare bones experience of the early Alpha and find it very enjoyable. Even having said that I don't see how this is controversial, they have enough revenue to hire a team for porting over a console version and worst case scenario PC gamers get to feel smug (like we need any help in that department) that consoles get a bad PC port for once. From what I understand (which isn't that much) current generation consoles utilize a similar development process to PC's, but even if they did not they could justify hiring additional staff for the console version due to the revenue generated by Early Access and the prospect of opening up a new market to sell the game. I really do not see why so many people seem upset except some of the people (cough cough Gibonez) are perpetually upset at every stupid topic. So talking about how you dislike the pace of standalone development has nothing to do with the PS4 announcement. Discussing how you dislike the direction of the SA has nothing to do with PS4. Essentially if you have some huge problem with this announcement odds are you are a PC elitist (which I can be guilty of as well) and/or a hippy who doesn't understand how basic business works. If people want the product make the product.

    it's just ducking funny

I was surprised that made it into the standalone game. I have always hated the scroll menu and have died quite a few times due to having it open when combat starts and I end up drawing my pistol in a slow animation as my opponent laughs about pawning some noob.

Should admins have more options at hand?

Lol if you want to be a millionaire develop an anti hack program that catches everyone. If you think Bohemia is the only gaming company unable to get rid of hacking then you have not been a PC gamer for that long. I know Bohemia games are easier to hack than the average game, but almost every game suffers from cheaters.

    My SA experience.

The whole point of early access alpha is to get funding even if they say different or other people say different. That is not an evil goal either, there are too many people who do not understand that video games are a business and putting this game with a ton of hype out on Early Access was the best business decision to make and is better for the game as well since it allowed for additional hiring. But Early Access is not all about caring what the player base thinks they want in the game or even listening to all of the divergent opinions. It offers a great opportunity to stress test and test features, otherwise I doubt they care all that much about many individual opinions.

    My SA experience.

I am not mad about the pace of development but I am holding back on playing the standalone at this point. They have been pretty upfront with their timeline for many of the features people are wanting and while I hate to say this Bohemia has a track record of producing fun yet buggy games. I expect many of the issues to persist through Beta and full release especially the desync issue that is present in Arma 2 and Arma 3 although less pronounced. Other issues like zombie count and bugs will probably be resolved but I doubt at the speed many people hope for. I took a couple month break from the standalone and just recently fired it up again and was pleased with the progress but not to the point where I see myself playing it all that often. They were upfront about the amount of time this game needed to go into Beta and they have a track record that anyone interested in the game should have looked up (buggy fun games). If you are angry about that maybe it will convince some people to stop buying early access/Alpha titles.
  12. No gun should ever be regulated. Murica out
  13. It is the new Overpoch mod, pretty fun and mixes Overwatch weapons with Epoch base building and traders. I felt a twinge of Lingor nostalgia and actually reinstalled the mod a couple weeks ago and have been having some fun.

    Gas Stations

I think people either forget the mod or never played the mod when they think the person in the car is somehow the biggest threat. Cars have always been bullet magnets and when they were rare in the mod you were more worried about getting killed trying to get gas than people were of hearing a vehicle. Cars were insanely easy to damage/disable so I would be more concerned with people without vehicles camping gas sources than the people with vehicles dominating. I got my first car in dayz by camping a gas station and killing the previous owner.

It is possible future of DayZ?

I seriously doubt this retooled engine will ever get there, it might be more acceptable in the future but I just assume anything from Bohemia Interactive will come out rough around the edges. A better question is can the game release enough content and bug fixes to make it interesting again, only time will tell.

I HATE playing 3rd person servers.

Bohemia has spoiled me with the head turn, whenever I play DayZ or Arma 3 for an extended period and go back to another shooter I will attempt alt look at least once. As far as all the other stuff I could care less about realism. Both 1PP and 3PP have issues that make them very unrealistic but since we are playing a game that is to be expected. Until we have the Holodeck we can expect games to continue to be unrealistic. Having a realism argument is like arguing whose shit smells better, guess what they both stink.

    "Frankie" Hero mentality

Man this thread has everything. Digging up some old worn out hackusations (don't care if it is true or not) on a popular youtuber and a bunch of try hards attempting to say another player sucks. Then the icing on the cake is the guy claiming Hitler was "clever" while ignoring that Hitler was in fact one of the worst military tacticians in history and wrote a book that is heavy handed BS that even discounting for the fact that he was an awful person was still an awful piece of literature. As far as the OP is concerned people who are stupid while trying to play the hero quickly learn that running up shouting friendly is a good way to die. For all of his real or imagined faults Frankie normally starts a conversation like that from a position of power which is the correct way to play as a hero/friendly.

    Serverhopping mother-effers

That is weird because I was server hopping a server around 11:40ish with a low population and I killed some fully geared out guy with a fire ax.

Will my character save if I wipe my computer?

No you lose your character and all posts on this forum as well. You will also have to set up your netflix que again, buy all of your games on Steam again, and your facebook account will also be wiped.

    1. Loot respawning 2. Zombie improvements to both numbers, respawning, and movement 3. Vehicles 4. Storage 5. Pooping
  21. The games are different and Star Citizen is far more ambitious/complicated. DayZ had a map and a rough engine to provide a foundation. They did change up the engine in significant ways but they did not have to start from scratch and while the map has also been altered they once again had a solid foundation to start on. The amount of money brought in by a game is somewhat irrelevant to personnel decisions, Minecraft has made a ton of money that was not instantly poured into making a better Minecraft experience. Income makes the game a success for the company and there is nothing wrong with success unless you are a communist. So a game making a good amount of money will allow the company or team to expand but it does not mean they have to spend all of that income on extra developers. It is worse than a football analogy, it is a baseball analogy.
  22. Even though I think Tommes is a complete moron capable of comparing third person to the greatest evils perpetrated by mankind he has a point. As always he manages to devolve into extreme hyperbole and douches up his own argument but he does have a point at the core. The game does get boring after awhile. Most games get boring after awhile. Citing the exception to this rule and acting like a majority of games can actually achieve the status of longevity like Counter Strike is holding games to an absurd standard but I do get his point. I am tired of the DayZ grind and have mainly moved on to other games at this point. I will return once more content is added but I doubt it will ever be as fun as it was at the beginning which is fine. I was glad to be introduced to Arma through DayZ, but I have only put in 25 hours into the Standalone and I owned it before 99.9% of the people here and still have not devoted that much time to playing. I liked the new inventory, I like where the zombies could end up, I liked the emphasis on survival and eventually crafting, and I enjoyed the weapon attachment system. But after playing the mod for a year and a half very heavily it was not enough to really get me interested in playing the game again. To be honest I was tired of the Mod and the only thing that kept me going were the mods of the mod. I am not saying I want a return of the easy mode servers (although I played those for fun on occasion), but without much content the game does have a glaring flaw that many have started to notice, the grind is not worth the end result eventually. I still have hopes but for now I am taking a deserved DayZ break. It was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed the open world nature of DayZ but the freedom of that style of game is eventually it's own death kneel. With no objectives the player eventually runs out of things to do, places to explore, and items to find and even tires of KoS and griefing players.

    Duplicated items...

I remember in the mod seeing dupe bodies everywhere. I would kill crews that had the exact same gear set up down to the number of steaks and drinks (normally one since at the time you could get infinite consumables from another bug). Duping happens especially in an Alpha game.

So much for a "stable" update

I would like a system that as soon as you clicked log off it would let you watch for 30 seconds without the ability to abort the log off process. That way people will know why they died and learn from the mistake. Any system that allows you to attempt to abort the log out if in danger ruins the purpose of the system. People will just attempt to log and if they get in danger will abort. There is a consequence for combat logging. Also those who think they should code in a better system might not have played the mod, it usually created a host of secondary issues that were more trouble than they were worth. Plus if a player saw someone and aborted before the first shot there was no penalty.
