I just did the worst thing you can do to someone..
Zombie Jesus replied to pr0phe7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is an awesome way to grief someone. I am normally unimaginative with my griefing and it always results in someone dying without much payoff. When they took out the respawn with broken leg option I used to break players legs hoping they did not have morphine, but usually I just try to make friends with a satchel charge or grenade in my inventory or knock people out and eject them from moving vehicles. Swimming in Dayz is one of the worst things in the world, I can not think of a worse punishment than being left to starve in the ocean. -
Edit: should really look at the date for posts I respond to. Good luck on the plan man.

A Gun You Never Found Before?
Zombie Jesus replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only gun I have never found in a legit spawn point is the SVD camo, I have found plenty on players, camps, and other assorted shady places but I have never found one in its natural habitat. The only item that still eludes me is the mountain dew. -
Share your /facepalm moments
Zombie Jesus replied to muse9191's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have done a variation of this facepalm moment several times but the funniest of the bunch was when I was fully geared at the warehouse firestation in Elektro waiting for a buddy to gear up in the city. I was providing overwatch from the roof and was crawling along a ledge. Looked around and instead of hitting w to move forward I hit e and rolled off the roof right in front of my entire group. Have also dived to prone off of roofs and rolled off before, this was the first time I had an audience though. -
Yes it is back up, we can all resume guessing about a release date and constantly be wrong. Score one for the little guy.

g000gle was funny, this imposter is failing to carry on his good name (sorry Inception, I did in fact find him funny).

ARMA 3 DAYZ VS STANDALONE
Zombie Jesus replied to The Jackall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They have more resources though and that is all that matters. Modders can come up with genius additions to games but lack the resources and ability to change the base architecture of the engine. Until they can do this they will always be modding Arma. -
Dayz Origins - DayZ of the future?
Zombie Jesus replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I see Origins as something the developers should look at to add other content. Base building is something that has been on the table prior to Origins releasing their take on base building. Being able to modify vehicles and strip vehicle parts is also something they are looking to add. The only thing Origins has that DayZ Standalone probably will never have is NPCs. Fraggle also points out the reason Origins will always be a step behind, it will always be limited by the Arma 2 engine. -
It's frustrating that Rocket pays more attention to reddit than anything else
Zombie Jesus replied to veristaya's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think Fraggle nailed the answer, he was a redditor before making this game in the first place and it is just his preferred medium. Plus this place is filled with shifty people like Steak and Potatoes and when coming here he always feels like he needs to be packing heat for protection. -
I get what you guys are saying about the Origins "creators" but some of their weirdness has paid off. I have seen countless posts complaining about the fact that so many servers go easy mode and allow server owners to spawn vehicles and guns. Origins servers have that locked down so server owners are not just paying for the privilege of hacking without consequences (joke, I really do not care that much it is their server and it is a mod). Overall Origins is a pretty cool mod despite the tactics used by the creators. I am a sucker for a righteous cause so I do not fault people for avoiding it due to these concerns, but I will say they are missing out.

One Thing People Aren't Excited About in the Standalone
Zombie Jesus replied to JustThatEpic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They would have to try very hard to match the poor UI from Arma II. Sure it was fine for Arma because you really did not have to interact with it that often but even a poorly overhauled UI is better than what is currently available. Have you ever played WarZ? Just like they would have to try extremely hard to make the UI worse than it is now they would have to attempt the impossible to match how terrible WarZ was/is. Sergey Titov is the Michelangelo of bad video games and WarZ was his Sistine Chapel. -
Well I can agree with you there, most developers want to maximize profits and make games capable of running on all platforms so at best PC will get better graphics and more players for multiplayer. PC will always lack big budget exclusive titles because the money is not there and console makers will continue to have long life spans because anything else would be economic suicide for the industry. I am fine with people lamenting reality as long as they realize there are very significant reasons this reality exists, essentially you are complaining about something that will never change.
-
Consoles are different and are better optimized, they are able to do more with less because they have a narrow focus. While the hardware lags behind the current slate of games should hint that consoles are going to be capable of running open world multiplayer games
-
Xbox 360 and PS3 would struggle to run a game like DayZ. It has to process a large map and a large number of assets, along with multiple other players on the same map. I find it hard to believe a system that could not properly run BF3 multiplayer (had a low player cap for a reason) would be able to run DayZ. The graphics of Arma II would not a be a problem it is more a problem of having a huge map and other players that would make it impossible on the current generation of consoles. While PC is better for a host of reasons (we do not have to wait 10 years for a hardware upgrade) the next generation consoles will be able to run a game like DayZ quite easily.

Does DayZ's player killing simulate real life authenticly?
Zombie Jesus replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
2002 called and wants their argument back. While Wikipedia is far from perfect it is no longer a repository of faulty sources it once was and links to scholarly sources in the footnotes (it links to this while discussing the evolutionary theories of guilt Pallanti S, Quercioli L. "Shame and psychopathology"). It is also a very reliable quick source for knowledge when looking into a subject. Sorry most of us do not want to respond to your freshman psychology course reading by going out to the library to compile the necessary research to complete a research paper, we are in fact on a game forum and not submitting a doctoral thesis. As far as your thesis goes you gloss over the fact that humans are also predisposed to forming groups. The "KoS" mentality would exist but in a far less aggressive fashion as the current game offers. People would be wary of outsiders and would treat those outside the group as a threat, but it would not rise to the levels seen in this game. Claiming the feeling of guilt is only present around peers is also absurd, if it was a cultural construct you would find cultures where guilt was non existent. Guilt pops up in every human culture so we can reason that it is not a cultural construct that requires peers but is hardwired part of our evolution that served a purpose in the past. So part of your argument is valid, humans do have a propensity for violence that is reflected in this mod. Where you lose people is by claiming other natural human instincts would all go out the window just because of an apocalypse scenario. You do not even touch on the fact that every single one of the people in this scenario would also have been influenced by their culture pre apocalypse. -
Why do you need 12000 blood?
Zombie Jesus replied to Imafighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pretty much what WBK said. If you lowered it to 4.5k blood you remove the need for medical items unless you are in a fierce makarov battle. Then again I once heard that someone took a helicopter down with a single makarov shot, surely the video is up by now. -

I know what you meant but I still had a laugh imagining Snorks from the cartoon fighting people in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. -

Standalone Release Predictions
Zombie Jesus replied to Jgut90's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol lets not get bogged down in what Rocket said because he has used the word imminent in the past and I am fairly certain he is using a different definition than the Oxford dictionary. I stay with his it will be released when it is ready and not expect anything else until an actual date is set. -
Magazine. Not clip.
Zombie Jesus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol don't get me started on people who love to correct grammar. I threw in the Game of Thrones reference because I did that to someone the other day and got a very deserved eye roll for being annoying. Give it time, I am sure people will find a way to inject a political discussion that never goes well into a video game forum. -

Who cares? Do you know everything about hobbies you do not care about? Would you laugh at a Game of Thrones nerd correcting you and saying the series is called a Song of Ice and Fire? Nobody gives a shit about your specific hobby, the asshatery of gun porn enthusiasts is just overwhelming at times. I love firearms and own a couple myself but the gun nuts are just too much to take sometimes. The only thing I agree with them on is the completely made up term Assault Rifle, otherwise I could really care less if someone calls a suppressor a silencer. We get it, you enjoy firearms try not to be pretentious about minor semantics. -
Standalone Zombie Jumping
Zombie Jesus replied to globalfriction's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Give it time they are attempting to make them more dangerous and compelling. Also lets face reality here anything will be an improvement on the zombies currently in the mod. Lets see what they can do over the coming months with animations and collision detection to clean up how they look and act. The zombies are in the 28 days later theme (or the World War Z movie theme) and are fast moving so I do not see a problem with a jumping attack. Resident Evil still has zombies, who knew. -
He just said tame and under that definition the dog would be very tame.

Cant understand KOS moaners :s
Zombie Jesus replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The reason banditry is fun (at least for myself) is the same reason people get mad when they die, it is a real consequence. You lose everything you worked for so firefights have real tension instead of thinking I will just respawn with my loadout after death. DayZ is one of the few games where you can feel actual guilt for killing someone and I think that is the draw, it is also why people get upset when they are killed "for no reason" (there is always a reason even if it is a bad one).
