Bad_mojo except a couple of people have said its an exploit. I can say looking over walls is cheap and the looking through walls is an exploit, but using third person view is not an exploit in itself. The ladder issue could be fixed by forced first person perspective while climbing, everything else besides looking through a buildings wall are part of third person. Overall what I was saying is those of you who enjoy first person only seem to think you are playing the real game and anything else is unacceptable. I am saying good for you finding your preferred niche, but for the love of god stop acting like you are superior for enjoying the game in a different manner. I don't think you were one of the people calling for third person to be disabled so I wasn't really talking about you in the first place. FYI, the only "exploit" in third person is looking through walls, every other issue you guys bring up is just part of third person view. On a map this large who has tome to check over every wall on the first place. It shouldn't be in the same category because duping and hacking are cheating while looking over walls is just cheap, big difference.

I am fine with a small cost for new content because a new map will be a huge undertaking that should be rewarded if it is done correctly. I also think this standalone will eventually be open for mods but we all understand (hopefully) the reason it will be locked in the beginning (scum of the earth script kiddies). Companies look to make money and as long as they follow a balanced non gouging course I am fine with that concept. So a few cheap high quality maps from the development team that also allows user generated content sounds awesome.

I never said I felt third person was more "pure" or was a better playstyle, I was saying nobody gives a shit when someone comes on the forums claiming that only one playstyle is legit. Look up the definition of a word before using it next time because my earlier post was devoid of irony. This thread is full of pretentious morons who think they are special and know how everyone else should play. Lets start off by saying both playstyles are legitimate and if you can't agree to that then you are just a douchebag. If you prefer FP guess what, they have servers with 3rd person locked. If you whine that they are low population it sounds like you understand that many people do not enjoy FP only, yet your brilliant solution to this issue is drive players off the game by forcing your viewpoint. I enjoy both and if I log into a FP only server ill play and enjoy the added challenge, but it is not that realistic. Echo location sucks, FOV is narrow, and no way to peek over ledges or corners easily (which we can realistically do IRL im not saying the hover look of 3rd person). You guys are role playing which is cool, but stop acting as though your playstyle is the "pure" play style and all others are cheating newbs with zero skill. Also it is NOT AN EXPLOIT. If you are on a 3rd person server it is available for everyone so no one has an advantage. Get over yourselves you self righteous asshats, nobody gives a shit about your feeling of self importance.

Play War Z (no do not do that it looks terrible, go on the website and click on subscribe to Youtube page and find around 10,000 subscribers without a single piece of content). Seriously it will be fine, the game is being built on the PC platform and since he is following the Minecraft model he is just copying how they pushed the game. If he delivers a terrible console port of the game then I will be right there bitching with everyone else, until that day calm down and hope for the best. Also it might be a console game for next generation consoles which might be able to handle a similar type of game, but who knows since we still do not know what engine will run the stand alone in the first place.

I lost two tents on a server then on the next restart the tents were back minus gear. For a player who never dupes I was a little annoyed but I do follow the first rule of Dayz and was over it fairly quickly. Maybe I am lucky with the graphics issue since my computer is somewhat new with good hardware, but I get how the game would be hard to play with those glitches. People get mad when I ask this so realize I am honestly just checking to see if you know how to use the flush command. If not hold left shift and press - on the number pad and then type flush and press enter. The screen will go black for a second and if it does not work the first time sometimes it takes another. If you already know and it does not help sorry for making someone read the tip for the hundredth time (I had good luck with this fix when I had the graphics bug but I know many others were not so lucky).

This right here is exactly what I was trying to say in my rambling posts earlier. There is way more than one thing wrong with the game and that is what is driving people away. A few of these issues (not scripters) are acceptable in an alpha, but when you add all of these issues on top of the huge script kiddie issue you will have quite a few players who just do not see the point in playing at all. I was an effective bandit at one point, now I resemble some hopeless care bear wandering the map in search of loot and easy zombie kills because going on a populated server means death by scripter.

Blomquist, which tent bug, the duping or the disappearing tents? My graphical bugs have gotten much better since the latest patch, they still happen but not nearly as much as they used to and I actually drove the whole length of the NWAF zombie punting last night without a single bug (although hackers had definitely been there as evidenced by the 6 burning Huey's on the ground). Like you said I have patience with bugs, it is an alpha, but the hacker issue is really starting to get old. I guess at his point I am a survivor since I am forced to play on low population night servers and have been unable to see anyone in the last three plus days. I logged onto a server I used to frequent with 30 players and within minutes start seeing frequent deaths, then surprise surprise her comes the Halloween song and some God Mode script kiddie running at me from the tree line with a hatchet and a jason mask. I hate combat logging, but at this point I refuse to be killed by these idiots and when it is obvious that they are not legit players what else can you do (especially when you hit them with 10 to 15 rounds of a M240, that would kill a group of 7).

I believe it is partly due to all three factors, some are just flat out bored with the game, some people who might have bought Arma II for Dayz will wait for standalone, and in my group hackers are the reason many have not played. I play with 7 people and this week I have been the only one willing to play. I even found a fully functional helicopter and three people online said the same thing, awesome but you will die from a hacker within thirty minutes so I am going to sit this out. I have decent luck with the scum of the Earth script kiddies and have managed to get out of some situations, but the game is starting to suck due to these morons. Why play a game where it can take a week to get fully geared (high level is how I role) just to be ax murdered by some child in a jason mask with God mode on (most recent death). I have not been killed legit in over a month now, but I have still died three times. I hang out on night servers and low population servers and still run into these idiots, I love this game but the cancer is spreading and I might have to hang it up until a fix is made. This is on top of dupers, combat loggers, and ghosters. Man this game is broken but for some reason I still love playing it.

Of course it is hackers, who would leave that many vehicles on the coast. I found something similar next to Solinchiny (sp. too lazy to look it up) the other day minus the heli and hacked gun. I still instantly knew it was hackers, why else would there be six boats (on the shore no less), 8 ATV's, a couple of trucks, and too many bicycles to count on an area people spawn. I watched the area for a little and when I felt safe I grabbed an ATV and headed for the hills. Was watching the coast for sniper kills when I see a hacker transport in with Jason mask and murder a new spawn and I got off that server after hitting him twice with no response. Script kiddies gotta script.

I will trade a GPS, NVG, and M240 or M9 SD for MK Mod O. I love light machine guns and have been rolling with the M240 for over two weeks now and it is a beast against other players (terrible for zombies though since it is loud as all hell).

You need Morphine not an Epi Pen (which I assume is the stim pack) and yes you are screwed without morphine. Next time you are in a big city find a hospital and grab some morphine and a blood bag or two (if you are lucky always grab antibiotics but you will most likely not see those) so you can be self reliant. I never leave without at least one morphine pen (usually three in case a buddy or survivor needs one) considering how many stupid ways there are to break your leg by falling, zombie hits, opening a door, and my personal favorite lying down in a hallway. Find the medic thread and ask for help there, if you are in the Southern half of the map you will get assistance quickly but if you are North you might be SOL. Do not have time to hop on myself but asking in an independent thread is a good way to get killed.

Mr. Pineapple, funniest part of your post was the "Rocket said" moment where you claim he wanted a safe game full of tents. If he wanted that game why did he allow PKing? Now on to your assessment of what this game is, this game is whatever people want it to be and nothing else. I will not sit here and criticize your choice to be a survivor who does not kill people, but why should I have to follow that lead and only kill extremely easy zombies (I have not been killed by a zombie since my first week, they are beyond easy even without bullets). Killing others is what keeps everyone on their toes, otherwise it would be a server full of top geared people playing a bad version of left 4 dead (good game, but it is different). If you can not take the PVP aspect, then maybe this game is not for you. If the standalone has a server system that restricts where you can go I would be fine with a PVE set of servers that NEVER allowed those people onto PVP servers (they would have a huge advantage in gear because once again ZOMBIES ARE EASY). Until that day get used to the drama and suspense of walking around knowing a bandit might PK you any second. PS your camp in Elektro was doomed from the start, get over it. Even if they had not come in the server to grief you then someone would have destroyed that camp on accident, or was your plan to PK every player you did not know in a high traffic area and then whine about PK.

Yea, this here is a bandit forum so nobody is going to care about your "hope to Dayz" nonsense. When you run an event like this expect chaos to ensue, just be glad some script kiddie did not ruin the whole thing in a sissy way, at least it sounds like they ruined it legit (if they used scripted guns or any hacker nonsense then they should die a long horrible death, but otherwise sounds funny).

I found a helicopter with two dead people next to it yesterday and while flying the server lost connection for around 20 seconds, I synced back in but I was terrified that some server admin was mad that he lost the heli and was going to bring me down for flying it. Still can not figure out what to do with the thing, right now I have it parked (hopefully) up north.

I should not join this discussion but I just have to due to the severe lack of logic in your statements. One, you have no idea what items are duped in this game, you can guess in obvious situations where you find a tent with five M4A1 CCO SD's or ten NVG's, but on a player you have no idea if he got all of his high end gear legit. I was running with four people and we got almost every single item legit and we all had rare primary with silenced M9's or 1911 with a tent with another six rare primaries. We had full tool belts (except one was missing NVG, only one range finder in the group, and no one had radios but who does) and ghillie suits that I personally found in grocery store/school raids over the course of a week. When we were killed I am sure the person looking might have suspected duping, but beyond the one AS50 (that we found on someone we killed so we are unsure if it was duped) they would have been wrong. Comparing the two does not make sense, one is obvious while the other is an exploit that should be fixed. The second problem with your position is you trying to defend using obviously hacked items as legit, it is not. If you have no idea that the item was hacked then fine, but you know better. I am not saying you are as bad as hackers (script kiddies), but you are using an exploit because you have gear that you know does not exist in Dayz. Stop trying to rationalize it, sack up and admit that it is somewhat cheap and move on. I am not even saying you are ruining the game, the original scripter and the dupers are the ones ruining this game, but you are definitely not helping. I am also not saying I would be the perfect Dayz citizen and not pick up that AS50 TWS for my Enfield, but I sure as hell would not come on the forums trying to defend using cheap ass weapons that are not supposed to be in the game. Essentially your argument is other people are doing it so why should I not be on an equal playing field. I get what you are saying, but that does not mean using these weapons is not an exploit.

I just found a chopper near the grocery store in Zelonogorsk with two dead bodies next to it but fully functional with fuel. Watched a Youtube video on how to fly and then took off to test it out. It is fun to drive, but with just one person and all of the people I play with over the game due to hackers (aka punk ass script kiddies with no skills) it is boring. Without gunners on a night server (for now) no less I just can't find anything worthwhile to do with this beast. It stands out like a sore thumb so do I pull the dick move and just blow it up or chance a server restart or another player taking the chopper to save it until I convince friends to come back to the game. I am down for other suggestions but lets be real this is the bandit forum so 99% of people offering to ride as a gunner will shoot me in the face.

I did check it for loot and nothing. I might just wait to get the group together so we can all die after I am shot while driving or we can kill some people on the coast. If I had the satchel I might have just gone with that plan though, I am aware that most vehicles end up getting destroyed and it would be funny to fraps blowing up some happy person or group who walked up on a helicopter.

I was thinking of doing that since it took me a good ten minutes to even chance walking up to the chopper in the first place for fear of someone doing exactly what you described. Suggestions like that are why I came to the bandit forum in the first place.

Well I kill people so that makes it relevant right? I am looking for fun ways to mess with people so I thought bandits would be the best people to ask since asking survivors would result in a bunch of people wanting rides or run medic missions. I am also aware that they are sniper magnets, but who cares it will be fun to mess with people at the very least. Best idea so far is put it in Electro.
