You are doing it wrong, if you want to die you stay on the Norther Hill, if you want to snipe people stay on the Western Hill (granted you will need a .50 cal to pull off sniping at this range).

I have been waiting for this map to release for so long now, when they did Fallujah I remember raging that they went with that map first (I actually enjoy Fallujah so not mad just really wanted to play this map first). I love playing maps before the masses get them on Dayz commander so I am looking forward to seeing some servers running this.

Semantically you are correct, bravo. Maybe I should have said that is called being a dick and just left out the the PvP part. Although the spirit of PvP is player versus player where both players would have the ability to hurt each other (hence the versus part implying that they both are able to engage in combat), instead this is a dick versus a guy who has no way to defend himself. I just hate when people who snipe newspawns call themselves bandits or claim they are participating in PvP, the correct name for this activity is douchebaggery not banditry. Edit: Not really trying to insult you in general just pointing out that most of us would consider what you are talking about a subsection of PvP and most of us would not label that section with a flattering term. In team deathmatch spawn campers are regarded as scumbags even though technically they are playing the game within the rules, same concept here you might not be cheating but you are being an asshole for no gain whatsoever.

Man I have seen first hand a one hit knockout in a fight, so yea someone can knock you out in one hit. Zombies are easy so the knock out mechanic makes them somewhat dangerous, not really a bad deal just try not to get hit by zombies (I only get hit when I am being stupid, otherwise infected are far too simple to evade even without a gun). If you are getting hit more than once by a zombie you are doing it wrong.

The military loot spawns are low value and every other spawn site can be found elsewhere on the map. It is very far away from what most players view as good placed to go (personally have not been to stary in months and the only reason I go to Cherno or Elektro is when I am a new spawn trying to grab some basic loot). I love Berezino and when I am hunting for vehicles or parts that is my first stop, but it is a ghost town and if you want to PvP it is not a great location. The NEAF is a lost cause since it has almost nothing of value and is such a long trip without a vehicle. The standalone will hopefully encourage people to spread out on the map by giving places like the NEAF some decent loot, otherwise people will go off to the NWAF and stary. I voted Stary because military loot is out in the open for a couple of hills, that large warehouse (not really sure what that building is called tbh), or can be camped in one of the buildings in the town. When people were just camping the hill north of the military tents it was easy to clear out, but the last couple of times I went there I was sniped from a far off hill, the warehouse, and my overwatch caught a guy running up from a house right after I had to drop a zombie.

Yea that is not really PvP that is called being a dick. Shooting a new spawn is stupid and is neither fun or tactical (I have seen the completely stupid I am eliminating a future threat argument and since they just respawn with the same gear you do not achieve that goal). I actually do not care about dying as a new spawn because those painkillers and bandage will replace themselves, but I get why people find it frustrating. Not saying I do not kill people just because I am bored because I do this all the time, just saying some standards on what targets you select. Guy has an Enfield and a patrol pack, he is fair game. Guy is running around with only a flashlight and no weapon on his back, maybe try not being a douchebag and wait until he gets that sweet makarov.

Man that is a long logout timer but I have to say this will most likely be the fix for this problem (maybe not that long though). People will complain about the legitimate disconnections that happen but how likely is it that this disconnection happens when you are in the middle of combat. Considering a great deal of dayz play time is devoted to running through relatively safe areas I am not sure it would even put you at risk for zombie damage, but I would be willing to take a death over my internet connection failing than see so many people be blatant sissies about losing their loot. In reality the benefits of a logout timer far outweigh the rare problems. Imposing a kill function on alt F4 might kill your character for the sudden loss of internet connection, plus there are different ways to quickly log out. When I logout due to blatant hacking I alt Tab and then close the game in Dayz commander or I escape abort, same end result as an alt F4 so that would solve absolutely nothing.

It is not nearly as bad as it used to be though, I have been practicing sniping lately with a SVD camo and when I tried to use this gun last time I could never score a kill because once I got a hit the person would combat log. Now they at least have the decency to run to cover first if they even end up logging and a slim majority seem to take their death like a man (but every single one has quit after which sinks the body, that is a BS feature). Everyone agrees that something needs to be done to stop this abuse and I think the best option is a time out period, there should be a fix at some point since it is a huge pain. If I am on my regular server I will flat out report the person to the server admin and many private hive servers will issue penalties to those who combat log (hard to prove, who the hell is always running fraps). As far as hackers it has been much better but I am sure some of the map hacks are still active which is a more subtle way to cheat and almost impossible for another player to realize it is being used.

If by everywhere you mean the airfield then yes. You can find UAZ offroad dksh ringing the city and one on a freeway

Alright that was officially awesome and now I can give myself a laugh whenever I have a big copy job. I am seriously thinking I could get away with this on Halloween, would love it if I had to give a presentation to top it off.

Nice to see most are not completely ruined by this game (except Yeni who hopefully is kidding) because this is one of the reasons I stopped being ultra friendly in the game. I would say at least 90% of the people I have saved turn out to be very thankful and I have even got some decent gear that I did not ask for, but that 10% who pop up and try to get a murder are what ruins it for everyone else. Even when I am playing as a huge bandit looking to up my murder count I still would be nothing but nice after receiving help from another player. Hell I will typically not shoot you if you see me and call friendly before I see you (you will die if I had been stalking you though, no respect for noticing me far too late in the game) because it shows a level of respect for the friendly playstyle. I play as a bandit quite often on non Chernarus maps but I would say I have too much dignity to lower myself to outright dick moves just to add a murder, although I guess you could argue that sniping people just for the practice (found an SVD camo and have to become proficient and screw the armory I need real situations) is a dick move in itself.

Yea I hate these decisions because I really enjoy certain guns even though the stats might not back up my personal preference. Say I have an AS50 and a MK Mod, do I drop one for a M14 Aim? Since the M14 and MK are two of my favorite guns I will drop the AS50 every time, but this decision would be viewed as stupid by other players. It all matters on what your personal preference is when it comes to these weapons, this is why I started using tents again so I would have less decisions to make since I can dump my second primary and find a new one when looting.

I would say yes but would be nervous to leave gear I really wanted stashed away some where like this. We picked up a buddy on the road out of Cherno one day and gave him an Alice pack and he left his patrol pack on the road and three hours later we drive up to the same part of the road and freak out thinking someone left a satchel charge in the road, so I know it will save. That being said leaving stuff anywhere in Dayz is a crapshoot since I have had tents eat all gear within minutes of placing them, so always know that your gear is temporary.

While I am rarely in favor of removing items I would not cry if the L85 thermal was removed from the game (I have it on two maps right now and will only drop it when forced), but I agree with the sentiment that NVG should stay if night is as terrible as it is currently. I know use flashlights, flares, and chemlights but all of those come with drawbacks and if NVG were rare it would be a nice reward for finding rare equipment to have better vision without giving up your position, also if you suspect the person you are fighting has NVG and/or a thermal scope you should throw flares to take away that advantage. Since we are talking about standalone (at least I am assuming that is the point since the mod will probably not get a ton of developer attention in the coming months) lets stop discussing the obvious problem of gear inflation through duping and hacking. If NVG were rare and had durability issues (been discussed at length by developers) then they would not be all that common nor would people use them as frequently as they do now, problem solved. The L85 is not OP besides the optics, otherwise it is a run of the mill STANAG gun that is very difficult to use in close quarters if crosshairs are turned off and tends to give the person tunnel vision. You might be smart enough to do a 360 scan, but most only do that once or twice and if you see the guy turning around just start firing before he even has a chance to lock in with the thermal. The AS50 TWS (or AWS too lazy to look it up) is insanely OP since the scope gives a wider FOV, is easier on the eyes, and is a one shot kill, but that gun is not supposed to be in Dayz in the first place so lets not even discuss it as part of a legitimate discussion. If you see a sniper team drop the guy with the thermal first and then take on the sniper since he will no longer have a spotter helping him locate where the shots are coming from. The instant hostility toward different opinions is most likely uncalled for but this has been discussed to death over the last four months, but then again so has every topic so I will not fault you too much there.

I was mostly joking but I was curious as well, given your post history you know about 95% of the response are going to be flames and to tell you the truth most of you guys are hackers(key word most, you were already banned so I will refrain from flaming you since if you are a hacker you already have been punished and if you are telling the truth it would be a dick move), but I have been falsely accused as well (not by battleye just by an incompetent admin) and was also not too happy. False positives are not supposed to happen but I am wondering if they ever got back to you about the original action or if you had sent in more information to them. I doubt you are going to find a server without Battleye since every private server I have ever been on has battleye running. Go steam begging to your friends if you can not afford the second copy or just wait until standalone. Or you could keep asking questions that make it look like you are a hacker in a forum full of people who have been attacked by these people and expect a positive response, your choice.

Well, that was a hacker for sure. Others have suggested well run private hives but at the same time a well run private hive usually has a core group that most likely has the chopper already. I usually accept that the Chopper will be stolen or destroyed and just try to have as much fun as possible while I still have the thing. Nothing better than a chopper battle with two crews, but you could still drive around griefing people or helping them (whatever suits your play style). My favorite thing to do in a helicopter is cause people to combat log, you fly up on someone and see zombies everywhere and as soon as they hear you hovering over or even killing a few infected there is a good chance all the zombies will suddenly disappear. TL;DR yea that was a hacker, also have fun while you have it.

It might not always be hackers, you know to go to Skalisty island and server hop and so do many other players. While you are sitting there fixing up the Chopper people doing the exact same thing could be server hopping to your position. If you want to save it you could always find another main rotary assembly and break the one on the helicopter when you park it so anyone who finds it will have to go searching for a part before take off, but then you run the risk of the person just destroying the heli so you can not have it either. You could land it on a roof of a building in a small low traffic Northern town, like Petro or Gvozdno, but once again players unable to get to it might just destroy the helicopter for the fun of it. Whatever you do try not to park it in the Northern part of the map since that is where most of us check for vehicles being hidden.

For that to happen you would have to be relevant, boom. But seriously I am not trying to flame the country of Greece or the Greek people, some of us are just upset at the absurd fact that authorities in Greece can not tell the difference between espionage and tourists. Say what you will about the CIA or FBI but they would have just bounced these two out of the country after finding out rather quickly that it was a mistake and not a threat to national security.
