Defeating the Dew...Episode IV
Zombie Jesus replied to Hetstaine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Great as always man, only Hetstaine can make a story about shooting some animals and finding a backpack at a helicopter interesting. One of my all time favorites was your cautionary tale about drinking and driving with Steak. -
1.7.7 really punished stupidity
Zombie Jesus replied to JackWalsh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought a simple increase of antibiotic spawn rates would have been a great fix, otherwise I liked the new addition of zombie knockdowns. They also needed to fix the aggro, it was not hard it was just annoying. There has to be a middle ground between endless aggro with no hope of breaking it and the easy mode run through a few trees we have now. Anyone saying the zombies were bugged needs to realize they have always been bugged and will always be glitchy in the mod. A forum poll is not really representative of the overall consensus on DayZ even if I agree with the results (in this instance). If we asked the forum we would all be playing vanilla Chernarus servers and no additional mods or weapons would be available. Plus forumers hate new players and can not tolerate their simple questions without insulting them and are incapable of realizing that a mod that has been around a year would be stale without all of the variety available on private servers. -
Things About The Mod That Suck Thread
Zombie Jesus replied to Ghoul_Life's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bandit rocks and the scroll wheel menu. The debris on the roads and the tires that pop like balloons on the debris. Also Fraggle's hair, it looks like an 80's hair metal band mated with a mutant tie-dyed can of Heinz. I bet it is an exact replica of David Bowie's manscaping. -
Why don't people leave the coast?
Zombie Jesus replied to victusmortuus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Chernarus beach party, yea it is a sausage fest with almost no chance of surviving, but it is the Zombie apocalypse and Club Med is shut down. -
I imagine a game with content instead of a free mod that has probably been played for far too long (100% guilty there).

Some questions about this game....
Zombie Jesus replied to neozenha's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No one knows yet. It had been previously stated that it would be offered at a discounted rate during Alpha but the only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes. -
Some people will undoubtedly have that attitude toward the standalone but the world has always been filled with plenty of idiots so it should not surprise you that it would happen. For those that started DayZ later I feel bad that they never got the DayZ experience from last summer (well not completely we had to deal with artifacts and a shit ton of hackers) when it was difficult and a grind but fun at the same time. I can not speak for everyone but I know I have just played way too much DayZ and it started getting stale. I suspect some of the others in the servers have the same sentiment while others might never like the original concept. The one thing I will defend though is that the vanilla Chernarus map is not perfect. There was never a really good reason to head to the NE because there was no points of interest. It was good for industrial loot in Berezino but other than that the NEAF was boring and no one was ever around. One of the reasons I liked the addition of new maps was the additional points of interest most of them included instead of the stale Stary and NWAF.

It can lead you to eternal salvation my son. Or it leads to boring abstinence and being offended by everything, depends on your perspective.

You say you are not "insulting" them and then go on to use loaded terms like "proper DayZ" (the implication is that they are not playing it the right way) and ask why they even bother playing it in the first place. You focused on the wrong part though, Noobclearwarfare is a high pop server with everything you are asking for, was trying to be helpful before letting you know that you were using played out language to try to demean other players. I did enjoy "proper DayZ" aka vanilla for over nine months and I still do on occasion. My reasons for playing these servers is tied mostly to limited time to game with IRL buddies who no longer find vanilla DayZ fun after playing for so long. We know it is casual and we know it is easy mode, but it can be fun to drive up to the NWAF grab a plane and slam into a Mi-17 flying over Cherno just for the laugh. You would rarely pull something like that on a vanilla server because all of the loot was hard fought. I am not even trying to say you should enjoy it, I am just saying stop making it sound like everyone who does is somehow doing it wrong. Variety is the spice of life, nothing to hate on there.

One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
Zombie Jesus replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry just have to laugh that some people will miss the old inventory system and some of the more clunky elements of the mod. Sure we got used to them but they sucked, that was always one of the reasons a standalone was going to be better. Better UI and movement is a positive in my book. I have not played it yet but I doubt they will go full run and gun like other FPS titles so all they are really doing is fixing obviously flawed aspects from the mod. As far as the zombies, animations are going to change quite a bit over development so what you are seeing now is a rough draft. Anything will be better than the zombies in the mod so they really have nowhere to go but up. -
Open DayZ commander and hide all unofficial servers. Or Noobclearwarfare Seattle server is vanilla with a decent player population (meaning usually over 20). Or do a search for good Vanilla private servers running the patch. If you filter by player count you will find the casual servers. Using the term vanilla usually does not result in much so it can be a pain, make sure to add any server that meets your requirements to favorites so it is easy to find in the future. Apply to a private hive server with a decent population, although I understand they are hard to find. Balota Buddies used to have a decent sized community and still have close to 20 on most nights but they add some buildings and extras but nothing too extreme. I want to mock you since you started with the most played out insult on this forum, Call of Battlefield. I love (or loved) vanilla DayZ but at this point I often join easy mode PvP servers with a buddy to have fun (plus my IRL buddies refuse to play vanilla servers or go through Whitelisting). Just because it is not your cup o tea does not mean you should add a layer of pretentiousness to the conversation by acting like everyone who enjoys these servers is some CoD noob.

Thank you R4Z0R49 and rest of the dev team
Zombie Jesus replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Every patch needs a hotfix or two and this one is no different. Overall I like quite a bit about the new patch even the knockdowns everyone keeps complaining about add an element to PvP that I find interesting since players have to pay attention to the zombies. So overall I would say good job to the community development team and hope that other players are able to offer constructive feedback to fix some of the issues with the latest patch. Loot spawn rates need to be increased but not to pre patch levels since so many found that too easy (I never cared, I like loot). Maybe tweak infection rates or just add more antibiotics and fix hospital loot spawns and you have yourself a decent patch. -
What you guys think about the new update?
Zombie Jesus replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
At least you finally left a non flame post. The zombies are fine with a few tweaks since they do add an element that was needed in this game. I like the fact that firefights in cities have taken on a new tone where the players are unable to just sit in one spot until one zombie manages to hit them softly. If they keep the infection rate as high as it is now they really should increase antibiotic spawns. They did plenty of things right in this patch but there are a few areas that should be hotfixed. Hospital loot, sorry but there should be more loot in the hospital. I am even fine with it being reduced from before the patch but it is next to non existent at this point and that is lame. It is not fun, it does not add to gameplay, it is just a frustration mechanic. Industrial loot, finding a car and fixing it has always been a royal pain in the arse in this game in the first place so I do not see the need to drastically reduce industrial loot. If you are a realism type a world where the population was drastically reduced and business has halted industrial loot would be very common. If you could care less about realism (like myself) then it is just another grind mechanic that adds nothing to the experience. It was never easy to fix up a vehicle when you did not already have one, why make it take even longer. Other loot, needed a nerf but maybe went a tad too far. I could live with it since what I do not find is supplemented by the loot from PvP -

What you guys think about the new update?
Zombie Jesus replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Every post of yours in this thread is incredibly annoying. We get it, you are super leet and your opinion is the only one that matters. The Standalone is different and should go back to the roots with a better system, less glitches, better zombies, and hopefully more to do than just kill people. I played the patch last night for a couple of hours and while I did not hate it I do understand some of the complaints. Zombies have always been broken and that is not going to change in the mod and just adding more glitches is more annoying than difficult. I died once to them when I first started playing but after that is was not that difficult to deal with them, just annoying. I also am fine with lower levels of loot but like others have stated there has to be balance. In a full server things are picked clean to the point that it seems like the only way to get any items is to take them from zombies or other survivors. Having an honest discussion about loot availability does not make someone a noob, acting like a prick to anyone who mentions it makes some posters seem like douchebags though. Having said all of that those who are raging should calm down a little. Server owners will tweak loot tables or just stay at the last patch. They will add in things and remove others that their communities find annoying, it is a balancing act and that is what is cool about the mod. For someone like Trizzo he can feel super hard core in a server while others can go Battle of Dutyfield in other servers. -
Now both of the weapons on my official DayZ server character are no longer in game. Last time I logged in I still had an AS50 and L85 thermal. I would probably be kicked for being a hacker if I ever logged in again. Both were found the legit way, by duping (lol no at helicopter crash sites). People must really suck at using the other sniper rifles that will almost always knock you out or break your leg in a single shot. Well time to move on to complaining about DMR spam shots.

Surely you will deliver.

What you guys think about the new update?
Zombie Jesus replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To me it just seems like an attempt to recapture the original DayZ experience that will never be duplicated in the current mod for experienced players (hopefully standalone with added features can make the grind more interesting). Making loot harder to find just adds a frustration factor. I can kill someone with an Enfield especially if they are playing under the same conditions. Personal opinion, if it was not for the heavily modded servers I would play DayZ far less today. The thrill of running to the NWAF has been lost and no amount of nerfing loot or removing weapons will make it fun to grind out vanilla DayZ on a consistent basis. I had a great deal of fun last summer playing vanilla DayZ and I often end up going back and having fun in small doses with vanilla DayZ. But if I have an hour or two to kill and nothing else I feel like playing I will jump in an easy mode server with tons of guns and vehicles and just have fun. That is why I could really care less about the new patch, server owners will end up tweaking features anyways so both groups can have what they want. Oh yea, man up. -
Dayz SA only 150 People allowed in Open alpha? is it true?

I believe there should be some sort of Classification
Zombie Jesus replied to Jasmer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Holding people up usually results in one of two outcomes. You or the victim end up dead or the person being held up combat logs. I have only completed one successful robbery and the guy did not have anything I wanted in the first place. Out of five other attempts three attempts resulted in one side dying and the other two combat logged. When I am in a bandit mood I only have two rules, I do not lie to people about my intentions and I do not kill fresh spawns. Otherwise I am a KoS Call of Battlefied noob. -
Hide your tents better, it is cheap but you can glitch them into rocks and still access them (usually). Those rarely get found by other players. If you have a car keep a tire in your inventory and pop one of the tires before logging out, does not always work but deters the casual forest runner who does not have a wheel.

1. Taviana 2. Lingor 3. Namalsk Who knows about the rest. I have played most except for some of the newer ones but they have their deficiencies. As far as mods of the mod I think Breaking Point (Chernarus) and Origins (Taviana) are well done. People rage about Origins due to the makers being shady, but it is still a fun mod.
