After hours of back breaking walking my friend and I were looping around the northern side of the north east airstrip before, for no reason at all, we died. Instantly. No gunshots. No explosions. One moment we were chatting amiably and planning our approach. Then we were dead. Any ideas people? We were in a heavily wooded area so I don't think it could be a sniper. Plus we died at exactly the same moment without hearing or seeing anything... It's a shame really, we were quite well equipped (1 ghillie, 1 nvg, 1 gps, 1 rangefinder) with a host of good weaponry. We'd made a lot of effort to get to that part of the map and had some fun adventures along the way. Its a shitty way for it to come to an end, and I'm not sure I can motivate myself to play again.

Hey all, I'm really sick of lone wolfing. Do any Brits want to partner up? I'm starting out with a brand spanking new character again so if anyone wants to work their way up from the bottom with me, that'd be great. Or better yet, use your veteran to give me free gear! My goal is to gear up, scope out the map for vehicles and hunt down bandits like the dirty dogs they are. I'm 23 so maturish (18+?) players only please. Microphone also. Hey guys, thanks for the all the responses and apologies to those of you I haven't been able to reply to yet. Annoyingly my frame rate is really stuttering and it gets worse when I'm on skype/near other players (particularly in town), which has temporarily killed off my hopes of playing with other people on a regular basis. If I iron out these issues hopefully I'll get to play with some more of you.

I loved the cynical silence that followed the "It lagged out" excuse.

There seems to be a lot of threads and a lot of complaining. I don't know what criteria the Day Z developers use to actually act on these criticisms, but I doubt they trawl through every thread of this forum trying to identify what to solve next. My suggestion is to nominate 5-10 of the biggest problems with the alpha, and then poll them to see what the vast majority of us think is the worst problem. For example, my three biggest problems with Day Z: 1) Zombie movement- Absurd unpredictable zigzagging except for when they enter a building and become meek kittens to be lined up and shot. 2) Lack of end game- Once you have the survival gear and a semi decent weapon, the remaining options to do with your time can be a little boring. 3) Loading times- Loading up a game takes ages, which is really annoying because it deters me from restarting the game when it glitches out/hackers strike etc Once I've seen enough nominations I'll make a poll and we'll see what problem annoys everyone the most. By the way there's nothing unusual about the level of whining. Anyone who played WOW and saw the state of that forum should know that. Official Nominations (so far): 1. Zombie Movement Unpredictability/Endless Sprint/Walking inside buildings 2. Hacking Teleportation/mass killing etc

I've added two nominations so far, willing to add more once people throw their weights behind new or previously mention problems. Hacking is an issue. It's something I've only experienced twice ( both mass teleportations) which is why it didn't make my own personal top 3, but its definitely annoying when it happens. I think I would throw Zombie movement in even if no-one agreed with me, it bothers me that much. If it didn't make the poll a little convoluted it could be widened to "Zombies In General", because...They suck. They feel more like nuisance than a challenge to my survival, which is a shame really.

I play alone generally. Once I gather the cooking gear together it's not so hard to find a cow. Getting matches can be a bitch though.

I don't think yelling "friendly" is faggoty or carebearish, unless you play the game in specifically in such a way that everyone else playing it is a moving target :/.

Is there a way to reinstall Day Z? The current state of the game is resulting in my inventory resetting every time I play...Which is really frustrating because between lives I've been on a crazy lucky streak finding items. I think there's files missing or broken (I'm getting regular ".cant find file blah blah" messages), I don't know, I'm not great with technology. Without going through the excruciating process of reinstalling ARMA2 completely can I just reset/reinstall all the day z files?

I think that would make the game too easy (if you got a crossbar I mean). A lot of the time I walk around with an assault rifle wishing I had the time and patience with the inventory system to use the hatchet instead. Silent death is too handy.

Is it me or do soda cans seem to spawn everywhere? And food cans are only slightly rarer. It's a bit silly, I thought survival was supposed to be a relatively major aspect of this Mod? I've never even come close to starving/dying of thirst. Likewise the animal a.i needs to be sorted for hunting. Fine, cows are just dumb and stand there (they should be rarer though) but what about the pigs/deer who do the same thing right upto the point I bury my hatchet in them? This needs to changed as well, though it needs to be combined with an alternative way of restoring blood other than blood bags/cooked meat.

Just having seasons in general might be quite cool. Heat issues in winter, thirst issues in Summer.
