We did used to have a guy posting on here called "the Friendly Hacker". He made some very long-winded posts justifying his actions and blaming the the community or the mod itself for making him resort to hacking. It didn't end well for him.
-
It's never OK to cheat. Next time you're wondering about why games are so expensive, well blame hackers and pirates. Your friend should have done his research. Hacking on any servers, private or not that have BE enabled will eventually result in a global ban.

And that's it? The mod has always been buggy and always will be. Every new update will always introduce new bugs, that's the unfortunate nature of this being a mod. It's a pain in the ass and always has been. I still fail to see why you continually attack the community devs and their approach. As I said, if it wasn't for them you wouldn't have any servers at all or the the income it provides you with. Anyway, I've said my piece. I won't continue to add fuel to the fire, I'm sure as a responsible server admin that only does this for the love of the players and has nothing personal to gain by keeping your server at the top you'll take a look at the legitimate issues raised in this thread and address them (or not). -

Well, they were gonna release it tonight but people demanded more quality so it's gonna be in post-editing for the next 2 weeks now just to make sure. I hear Morgan Freeman will be narrating too. -
Probably best to read the changelogs for the patches in the announcement section, there's been quite a lot since October, too many to list here.

Cool. I'm sure you don't play any more. The problem seems to be that your admins do, and they play on the very servers that you've equipped them with tools to abuse their position. I don't care how much you trust them, a situation like that will be abused eventually. As for this being a one off for the admins to test their new hacks, well, I don't buy it. You've given them too much power and this is the result. I'm sure your servers won't take a hit for this as most of the players there probably don't follow the forums so you have nothing to worry about. I still don't see a logical reason for your admins needing those tools, I used to admin well run hack free server and managed to so so without any of that. I've read your excuses for needing them but for me it just doesn't stack up. You seem to blame the community devs for everything, well guess what, it's those guy's keeping the mod going which allows you to keep lining your pockets. As for not needing the money, well, I guess people just have to take your word for that. Charging people for starting load-outs (pay-to-win, which is against the spirit of DayZ) would suggest otherwise, most admins (including the ones I know personally) seem to do just fine with voluntary donations and if you can't run them without that then maybe you shouldn't be running servers at all. You're main defense seems to "well no-one complained before they saw the vids". Well that's because they weren't aware of it. You claim to only run these servers because people enjoy the game, very charitable. I'm sure it's all about them. -
If it's an admin ban then you'll have to speak to the server admin to sort it out. Just so you know, you were probably banned for "combat logging". That means disconnecting whilst in combat, most servers will warn or ban for that because it's not a very fair way to play and is against the spirit of the game. Good luck.

Well, power and money corrupts people every time. This is just another shameful example (of the many) of admins not being able to control themselves. If the admins have those tools then they shouldn't be playing on the servers, it's as simple as that. I don't care how much you trust them, as we can see your trust is mis-placed and it will be again. I've read the entire thread and can't see one decent reason why anyone would want to continue playing on these servers when there are so many more out there run by admins that do that do it for the love of the game and nothing else (money, ego, power ect.). -
Well, use Google or the BIS forums for more info if you have questions regarding Arma. This is the DayZ forum. Locked.

You know why you were banned, you admitted you hacking in your last thread. You are now banned from playing on servers that have BE enabled, which are most of them. There are some that don't have BE enabled, they are full of hackers.

Hmmm, usually by this time we have a hint that ones on the way. Hmmmm. -
That number is the first 6 digits of your GUID. That is your own unique ID meaning that the global ban is unique to you, it has nothing to do with theft.
-
If when you try to connect it say "global ban" then it's a global ban. What ban message do you get when you try to connect? Also, the SA is separate from the mod so no, you will not be banned from that unless you try and cheat there too.

The switch from console to PC

Welcome, welcome. I haven't upgraded a single thing on my PC for 2 years now and still play new games on high settings. Just sayin. -
Quiver, adding it to your tool belt and having it appearing on your back.

Nice idea. I prefer you to Orlok now. -
You have been globally banned. It has nothing to do with server admins or us. Read the stickies in the ban appeal area and contact BE if you want to dispute it. As you have admitted to hacking though I wouldn't bother wasting their time, they won't reverse it.

Nope, not aimed at you at all. I was making a point that being a programmer doesn't mean you can make a game (at least a good one) as I said in my post, although I do know some professional programmers that would be offended seeing it described as a basic task. It's the same reason programmers hire web-designers, they need someone that understands the principles of good design. -

Changing numbers would be easy I agree. Actually changing numbers in a meaningful way is something else entirely and can break the balance of a game. I don't need to be a programmer to understand that. Also, being a programmer doesn't mean you have a deep insight into how every game works, or why they are popular. I've played games made by pure programmers and for the most part they suck because making a good game requires a whole heap of talents including innovation. Being a programmer just means you're a programmer, nothing else. -

As I said it's a tad more than tweaking a map. Anyoo, let's face it none of us really have a clue how long it would take. I blame Rocket for this by making us wait for the next devblog for too long, we know he's a perfectionist when it comes to the devblogs so I'm sure the next one will be release in 3d. -
So...How long until a DayZ ARMA 3 port?

Don't forget the game mechanics would have to be changed too, otherwise what's the point? The whole reason I would like to see winter in the game is because of all of the new challenges it would bring in terms of survival (less meat, water freezing, requiring warm clothes ect.) that's not a quick job. Also, it isn't just a case of textures, snow on buildings ect would require a model, it's not as easy as just painting stuff white, snow has volume. And then there's all the complexities involved with implementing all of this authentically so it adds to the game and isn't just a gimmick. Like I say, it's all possible, and hopefully it's something we'll see at some point but don't underestimate what would need to be done to make it happen. -

I didn't say they're not capable of doing it, I for one would love nothing more than to see Chernarus+ during the winter but it DOES take a hell of a lot of work and for now they have way too much else to do. In the future though, who knows, I'd certainly love to see it.
