  1. I'd like to see the original quotes from Rocket talking about Kickstarters/pledges ect. Not because I doubt it, I've just been a bit out of touch recently so I'm not sure where this stuff is getting quoted from (I'm guessing PAX as I haven't seen all the Q&A's yet). Like I say, I'm not doubting your quotes or info, I just like to know we're dealing with first hand info and not quotes by another dodgy game journo paraphrasing Rocket and getting it wrong (which has happened before). I'll try and get some solid info on this at my end tomorrow.

    Because a guy wanting me shot because he's upset isn't really ban worthy tbh (or worth a warning), he's just angry. He seems to have an agenda (I'm guessing it's butthurt based on some past events) but rather than being open about it he'd rather dig away at Razor (or the mods) whenever he get's the chance, this isn't the first time. It's better to just let him get on with it. Like anyone else he'll get warned if he's abusive but this doesn't offend me so it's all good, if he insults or abuses other members though that's a different story. He's just raging as usual nothing new.
  3. Rocket did want to call it a Foundation Build and explained at length why. Unfortunatly another Zombie game stole that term within a week and used it for their Steam release which didn't go very well so now that term is now tainted. Call it what you like, they've been completely open about their intentions.

    I was thinking the same TBH. That's all that's needed as a visual indication for the player.

    A lootable streamer or something simple like that can be crafted to show wind direction is a pretty sweet idea. The sound combined with the leaves works well IMO but something extra for the serious snipers would be a nice touch.

    I agree that Arma does look a bit too washed out sometimes. It's a fine balance between the way most games look now days which is fine for some (eg: the colours and bloom suit the setting for Bioshock Infinite) and the other end of the scale in which everything just looks grey and overcast. If they get it right (which with that engine I think they can) you can have the best of both worlds, so bright sunny day's will make you want to skip through the fields catching butterflies and overcast weather can provide that oppressive feel of an incoming storm or the bleakness of a post appocolyptic world. Because it's a persistent online game that people will hopefully play for many hours they can't just choose a pallete that suits the setting like you can with other more linear games. It has to look right at all times of day and night and reflect the weather which is a tall order for any developer, for a game like DayZ though I think the importance can't be over-stated. I know the Arma engine gets a lot of flack but I think the lighting ect. is one of it's strong points.

    Np. I'm the same. I think that's one of the first things that drew me to Arma years ago and then DayZ. I'm pretty sure they'll nail it but I'm a biased fanboy so fingers crossed i guess.

    Bore off mate. You're simply looking for an argument now and you're not going to get one from me. Bias has nothing to do with it, I'm not even sure what you mean by that. Anyone with eyes can see that you've made your point and are now just being antagonistic. This forum has many other users, some of them may want to post on this thread regarding the update so let them have a go. You have dominated this thread for ages now and have nothing original to post, it seems you're now just being argumentative for the sake of it.

Whatever you say it's becoming very apparent via your posts (on this and other threads) that you have a personal problem with Razor. That's none of my business but can you keep the thread clear for others to post what they want now. We are all now well aware of you issues so no need to keep banging on about it. Cheers.

    I work with colours and I understand what you mean (so does my Brother and we've discussed this a few times). To my eyes it just looks like the overall saturation levels are higher (and the contrast) in the devblog vids then we are used to seeing in Arma 2. Not to mention that it looks like in the vids they simply have the weather turned off which due to the volumetric clouds and lighting effects the colours and hue of the whole scene. I think there's 2 reasons for this. I've used the TOH engine that is used as a base for the DAYZ engine and the colours do look richer and less washed out than they do in Arma2 which looks great when flying around Seattle on a typically sunny day, not so great for a zombie appocolypse. Regarding the contrast I think that's just a case of how Rocket/Matt have their displays set up (or the recording software ect) because in testing on my screen the contrast is no different to Arma 2 or Arma 3 and looks great, it's also very easily changed to your own preference via in-game settings or by adjusting your monitor so it's of no concern to me. What looks great on one monitor can look dodgy on another. The colour issue is slightly more of a concern though. As you say it can affect the whole feel of a game. Hopefully, once everything is integrated into DayZ the balance will be sorted. In testing the colours don't look as rich as they do in the blogs but they still don't have that overall realistic feel that we've become used to in Arma (IMO). As I say I think the weather will play a big part in this once implimented as the cloud levels will efffect the overall scene greatly. Also, in the blogs it looks like the sky is just a default blue colour and the time of day is roughly when the sun's at it's highest. Throughout the day the lighting starts to look very different especially combined with those oppressive (and impressive) clouds I mentioned earlier. Once these thing have been fully integrated and the devs have given it some attention I'm sure it'll look great and we have nothing to worry about. Don't forget some of the guy's working on DayZ have worked on both Arma games so if anyone can get it right, they can.

    Well on topic, yes, I think the saturation level of the blueness is too much at times although on a clear sunny day it looks great. They still have much to work on (including a weather system unique to DayZ) so I'd expect that to be on their list of things to do.

    Lol, no not teasing. I'd love to make a massive post explaining why I think the SA will be awesome but they'll kick me out of testing and Rocket won't let me share baths with him anymore so I won't risk it. TBH most of the details have been covered in devblogs but there's the little details (like the clouds ect) that make a big difference that it's hard to get a feel for by watching the blogs, especially as the blog vids are made with many of the new things turned off and the annoying PPE turned on.

    Lol, no pics but I can confirm the clouds look amazing and they get really oppressive when it starts to get dark and stormy looking, way better than anything we have at the moment, very atmospheric That's all you're getting from me though :)

    Whenever there's an update to the mod you should read the changelog on our forum's so that you know what has changed with each update. Thermals were removed months ago.

    Arma 2 or Arma 3?

    Mate, just because you seem a tad butthurt don't try and ruin other peoples fun. You've added nothing to this thread apart from telling us you're pissed of. Cool, we understand now. Cheers. Regarding finding somewhere safe to play (free from hackers) we can help with that too when the OP is ready. If you jump into random servers without doing a quick bit of research it'll end in tears (as above).

    Well, you still haven't posted the ban message as i asked for earlier. How can we help you if you don't post that. I can only assume it's a global ban issued by BE in which case they are the only ones that can help you. Edit - Wow - a triple ninja post situation :thumbsup:
