DayZ Developer blog 26th April, Video from PAX and our latest "building"
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
In my opinion they're just going back to what DayZ used to be. When I first played finding military loot was like gold dust and seeing a vehicle was even rarer. I think I played for 2 months before I even saw a heli flying past. For me that's when DayZ is at it's best. You have to work hard for everything making it all the sweeter when you find that gun you've been looking for. -

Yeh, that'd be the perfect spot to put it I reckon. Don't worry about it being on the coast, I'm pretty sure other buildings are being worked on with the intention of spreading places of interest accross the map rather than the way it is now: Cherno/Electro/NWAF. With lot's of other interesting places to visit it should change the gameplay dynamics pretty substantially. -
Locked. I didn't see any flaming though :/. Just legitimate concerns over peeps using multiple GUIDs. Oh well.

I hope they add some ambient sounds like creaking and groaning metal. Walking around in there at night with just a torch would be truly scary. -

It'll be nice to see all of these new mechanics being worked on coming together complete with the new anims ect. IMO all of the small changes add up to one very big change in the way the game will play (for the better). Hopefully when we get to see it come together it'll put a lot of peoples fears to rest. At this stage it takes some imagination. -

Unlikely. It's massive. Think of it as a permenant fixture and don't forget other buildings/structures are likely to be added too. -

I understand some peoples disapointment when we get devblogs. TBH the only news that will keep most peeps happy is that it's ready to be released. When news is released about the devs working on new player animations ect. some say it's that's not needed. On the other hand others complain that the SA is just an Arma 2 port using old assets despite evidence to the contrary. Basically everyone has different expectations and ideas on what would make DayZ SA the perfect game for them and no matter what course the devs take there will be groups of people unhappy with their decisions. This leaves them with only one option, and that's to carry on making DayZ SA the game they want it to be and then hope we like it too. -

In short because it's been discussed a LOT: 1) It's not the Arma 2 engine 2) The Arma 3 engine is still under heavy development itself so unless you're happy to wait over 2 years for DayZ SA that wouldn't be a good choice. -
Looks awesome.

It's not all new. I guess there's only so many different ways of saying "this is what we're working on!". If you watch the vid through there is new content though and there is a lot of info to be had. -

Actually, that's a really good point and currently I'd only be able to look at the ship on the test map (the small island for test objects ect.) so it wouldn't really answer those questions. We'll probably have to wait until it's integrated into the full Chernarus map to see the results :/ . -

Yeh, possibly, which is a shame if that's the case. Although I can see some shadows near the openings but the rest looks really flat like the mod. Edit - Maybe it's because the ship is still only on the small test island and not integrated into the main map yet? Would make sense. Later on (gotta go out in a sec) I'll ask for some permission to take some more screenies of the ships interior under different conditions and see what happens, hopefully I'll be able to post them up here (I'll have to run them past the devs first). -

One of the main differences that I've noticed in testing is that interiors don't look flat like that as they do in the mod (outside lighting affects interior lighting/shadows ect) so I'm not sure what circumstances the pics were taken in. -

Well, lets put that dispute to bed for the sake of mankind. One sarcastic comment was responded to with another sarcastic comment, it's the internet, no need for fisticuffs. I like big boats and I cannot lie. -

Hmm, I detect sarcasm, sadly not the part about the ship. -

I'd like to see the ship placed halfway up the map (off the coast) or even further north and just far enough out to make it a dangerous swim or requiring a boat. -
Dumb Ways to Die in Day Z (featuring Balota Buddies)

Nice one chaps. Oh how I've missed that angelic voice. -
I'm pretty much going about it backwards. I played the Walking Dead game (not the new shitty Activision cash-grab one) and enjoyed the characters and have been getting into the TVseries. I love graphic novels so I'll be reading those too at some point.

I've literally just bought that one a week ago!!!!!! I can't recommend it enough. We were just discussing them on this thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68142-artist-alley/page__st__340 Have a look, it's a general thread where peeps post their artwork.

Labels for Keyboard (esp. for Lefties)
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to JeffDetroit's topic in New Player Discussion
Lovin your work! I'm a leftie although I use the mouse in my right hand and like the standard WASD layout but I'm sure some might find it useful. Maybe people new to the game could use it for the less common keys regardless of which hand they use, if not oh well, at least you tried. -
Well you can run a full virus scan but the malware is usually designed to hide itself very well so the only way to be sure is to do as I said and format your HD.
-
When you re-install your new game from Steam the new key will overwrite the old one (as I understand it) so you just have to re-purchase it. If your old key was stolen by malware you'll need to clean your machine first otherwise it may happen again. The best way is to format your HD and reinstall your OS. If you've been visiting hack sites and installing software from them then that's how your key got stolen.

Yours look great, I love that animation. Here's a couple I made ages ago when I was bored. Soz, moderators can't add spoilers for some reson which always makes me look like an attention whore :/
