    Just saw Rocket again.

Yeh, sorry fella, I already got Brokeback covered.

A Ban That Dosent Make Sence

That was only gonna end in tears...

    Just saw Rocket again.

Don't worry Snow, I have a feeling that'll be one of his favs.
  5. I agree with you to a point but one of the main things missing from the mod as it stands is any type of endgame or any need to keep playing beyond learning the ropes and/or getting whatever loot you want/need, which as it stands isn't very much at all. It looks like in the SA even basic survival will be much more complex. Groups will have to worry about infections/viruses their team-mates have and seek the correct course of action to deal with these threats. Combine this with the new complex health system, crafting, hunting ect. and I can already see that life for groups will be much harder than just building a base and stockpiling, especially as Rocket has decribed that there will be the ability to take over these bases so although the bases may persist in the world, the group may not be able to maintain the strength to keep hold of it. If a member of a group dies from illness then his gear will also carry the risk of passing on that illness (depending on the illness), if he died in a firefight then his gear may be damaged from that fight, this should lower the rate at which groups can just hold onto their friends gear whilst they re-spawn and run back to grab their stuff. I guess groups will always have an advantage over lone-wolves, really that is the way it should be too. As long as playing as a lonewolf doesn't punish us to the point where there's no way to survive without joining a group I don't see it as an issue. There's going to be so many more levels of complexity in the SA (maybe not initially but by the time it's finished) that really only very well organised groups will be able to take advantage of being part of a team. If you have a team of weak, lazy, unorganised or basically bad players then their lives will probably be harder than surviving as a loner. Being part of a group in the SA may give you an immediate advantage over others hostile players in terms of pure fire-power but it will also present new challenges for the team in terms of basic surivial. This is all speculation really as there's so much we don't really know about or that may or may not be added to the game but from what I've read surviving as a group will present it's own challenges.

    Movement Post Mortom

Yeh it's pretty much the same idea we've heard a thousand times over but people are more inclined to discuss it when the poster has at least put some thought into it. The last time someone suggested this it read "I think players should become zombies when killed, the end".

Any idea how long my DayZ.st server will be down?

Here's their official thread on our forums, seems like there's been a lot of complaints about them recently although others say they're fine. If you post on it you may get an answer: http://dayzmod.com/f...yz st servers
  8. The moral is always eat your greens.
  9. I doubt it. I'm always wary of Reddit bandwagons, once their tin hats are on there's no stopping them. Sounds like the dev may be a bit of a douche for answering like that but I highly doubt there's some conspiracy to steal peeps keys. He's explained himself in the forum post he made and I believe him, others won't but that's life.
  10. Well here's the official response, looks like the offending code has been removed: http://www.thezombieinfection.com/index.php?/topic/1838-the-story-about-the-breaking-point-launcher/

Dayz Origins - Kicked by admin.

You should maybe try the Origins forum if it's a problem relating specifically to that mod. Post on this thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/119805-dayz-origins-released/page__st__60__hl__+dayz%20+origins#entry1307952 for help regarding Origins. Locked.

Realistic hunting in Dayz inspired by thehunter 2013

Agreed, maybe using salt to preserve it would be cool to: Boil seawater - get salt - salt meat - SHAZZAM! Your meat lasts longer.

    Movement Post Mortom

Ignoring the fact that we (survivors) might not be able to get infected because we're immune, as an actual gameplay mechanic I really like it.
  14. Same. The reason I like the idea is that it's another goal that you (or a group) can set yourself. Because there's no traditional goals in DayZ the fun for me comes from choosing a personal mission/goal to accomplish. If you don't have a goal that's when DayZ gets boring, for me anyway. If I'm just running around looting for the sake of it then I quickly get bored. If I have a long-term aim then it immedietly becomes more interesting. With crafting being added I can imagine building any sort of base will be a long-term goal, and for me that's what's missing from the mod.
  15. That's hoarding, people will always hoard. I don't find it fun either but it doesn't bother me that others do because it in no way affects my enjoyment of the game. That's the appeal of DayZ, you can play the game however you want. Also, the base building Rocket has described will involve a lot more than just setting up a tent to store stuff. It's all just ideas ATM but buiding a half decent base could potentially take months.
  16. Couldn't have put it better myself. IMO DayZ is all about giving people options and seeing what people do with those options. If the option to build yourself a base is there it doesn't mean you have to use it. For some I'd imagine their sole aim will be to build an epic base while others will ignore it completely. It doesn't have to be fair or balanced, it's just there.

Applejaxc Private Hive (now with AI!)

I look forward to see you adding 3000 vehicle spawns and a free DMR for every player.

    Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket

Hi. I'll lock this thread because it's a tad old now but in answer to your questions: No, initially it's unlikely that DayZ will be on Macs although in the future it may be. You should be able to use Bootcamp to play though, not sure really, never had a mac. The SA doesn't need Kickstarter support, it's being funded by BIS with Rocket as project lead. Locked.

New patch coming soon to dayz

Possibly the best edition in a long time. Looks amazing.
  20. Cool, I just wondered really. I've always liked the rain and thunder ect. for a bit of atmosphere. Anyhoo, good luck with your server.
  21. I'm one of the peeps that like the idea. I'm generally pretty nomadic too in my playstlye but I think there's something within many of us that just wants us to make a mark on the map and call it home. I think it'll fit with DayZ if done well. As survivors one of our first goals would be to set up some sort of base-camp and organised groups would definatly want to. For me it just hinges on how they go about implimenting it into the game. In the mod there's nothing that makes me want to have a base at all.
  22. Yeh, I agree TBH. i guess the new disease mechanic could help with this. Although you might not get "the INFECTION" I guess any sort of wound will carry much larger risks than it does now.

Arma 2 Dayz and Arma 3 Dayz

Same. I know many have had issues with optimisation ect but for me Arma 3 runs smoother than Arma 2 ever has for me.
  24. I think we'll have to agree to disagree then. I can handle players running around doing whatever they want but if a zed runs up to me and starts dancing then I'll give up I think.
