  1. Yeh, their track record for optimisation isn't great, Arma 2 sucked in that department. I have to say though, maybe they've turned over a new leaf. Arma 3 runs great for me so far and it still has lots of work to be done on it.
  2. I only have an HD5770 but have always managed to get fairly good performance from Arma 2, DayZ and now Arma 3. As you say there's many other factors that need to be considered, in the case of the RV engine BIS games use processing power is equally if not more important.

  4. I have a similar issue with Arma 3. "G" is now the grenade button, not the "gear" button. I keep fragging myself. If it becomes an issue just re-map the "v" key. It's not often you need it anyway IMO.

  6. Mainly that it will be too quick and easy to pull a gun on someone or "insta-heal" etc. I know there will be anims eventually with the appropriate delay but I'm just gonna have to see it when it's fully working with everything else until I'm convined it's a good idea.
  7. The quick-bar is one of the things I'm most skeptical about ATM. Just gonna have to see how it all pans out I think. There's gonna be a LOT more potential loot to sort through plus the crafting system so maybe a quickbar is needed. At this point I'm undecided. Edit - @Kra, that'd be my dream too. Having the QB items visible on the person would make my day.
  8. I think because the SA is a result of it being a mod it has more critisism/feedback than many. People have already played the basic concept of it so they have pretty rigid views of what they want/expect. Also because many love it or least can see it's potential they don't want to see it messed up. That's the way I look at it anyway. Some of the recent big games hardly show any development if any at all (GTA 5 for example). It just depends on the dev/publishers I guess. Smaller dev teams seem to prefer keeping the communities more informed than the larger ones, or at least have a more laid-back approach. Some see that as unproffesional others see that as being open. Either way it's never going to please everyone.

  10. Font-gate lol. Don't let the whole community get tarred with one brush. Any community has it's fair share of tools, this one is no different I guess.

Even if people are dissapointed with the initial SA release (which I'm sure many will be as they seem to be expecting a lot more than is planned for the early stages) the fact is it will be supported and continue to evolve into something pretty special (hopefully) without restraints (apart from money/time ect.). The mod, will always be wrestling with the fact that it is a mod and has many limits that hold it back, fundamentally the modders can't access the engine. I'll certainly keep my eye on the mod and I may not play the SA straight away (I haven't played the mod for months) depending on how much content there is on initial release but the fact is that in the long-run the mod just won't be able to compete.

    I've heard loads of great stuff about TracIR, I've also heard from many people it will shatter into a million tiny pieces if you even look at it, that pretty much put's me off.

Anyhoo, now I've just realised the OP is only 14 and I don't want to get arrested or be responsible for mentally scarring him I think it's best to lock this thread. Sorry OP but as you can see, requests for girl gamers on the interwebz are always met with suspicion so please accept our appologies and may you find your playing partner one day. Good luck.

    OP - If you think playing DayZ with other guys is a "gayfest" I suggest you don't join a football team. You will not enjoy the showers, it's like a sausage factory in there.

  22. Yeh frequently, that's in alpha development too. Like I said, regarding the animations, assets are frequently being added/removed from the test build and it has a long way to go yet, as does Arma 3.
  23. I think the thing to focus on with the inventory screen is the new funcionality, not so much the appearance at this point, as stated it's a work-in-progress. Regarding that leaked footage the build being shown is already old. The test server get's updated 5-6 times a day sometimes to test different things. Assets get added/removed frequently so it's not really the best reflection of the current development.
  24. Same here. For me, the main issue in the mod is that you can't walk/run with your torch held in front. That's the result of it being a mod, in Arma as a soldier you always have the gear you need to make nights playable. AFAIK this won't be an issue in the SA for various reasons. I like the really pitch black nights, but would be good if they were only that dark occasionally on nights in the lunar-cycle when there is no moon.
