  1. Cheers. Well, TBH you don't have anymore info than I do. Obviously before the public alpha release the servers will have to be stress tested as will the engine/game so maybe streamers/YT'ers will be a part of the larger tests whilst also allowing them to make the gameplay public as they do so. So far our testing has all taken place using relatively small amounts of people so it would make sense. Who knows? Not me.
  2. WHY U BREAK FORMAT PEOPLE? One sentence, he said one sentence! I could have written an essay about it but I refrained due to the request for ONE SENTENCE. Just sayin, carry on.
  3. Did "Frankie" cite a source for this info? It's just we've become used to speculation, sadly many people read speculation as facts now days.

New patch coming soon to dayz

I think it's literally just as simple as the people that are responsible for it aren't in the office due to E3. I'm pretty sure a DayZ patch is extremely far down the list of priorities in the world of Steam. It does suck though for the people that've been waiting, oh well.
  5. I believe the plan is for different bags and clothing to have different amounts of slots, meaning that when playing you'll be forced to choose between wearing something like a tactical vest that could allow you to store more vs something that offers more protection against people/weapons/environment for example. As with anything you see at this point it's always worth remembering that it's WIP and is subject to change as it continues to be developed.
  6. It makes you think about every action you take and gives you a feeling of reward for accomplishing even the smallest things.

    Standalone to Mod

The SA will be a game in it's own right. You will purchase it once and that is it, there will be no charges for updates etc and no microtransactions. If you buy it early whilst it's still in development (alpha/beta) then it will be cheaper at that time and you will only pay the once. It won't be compatible with the mod in any way as they are two separate things so you will only be playing with people who also own the standalone. Click the devblog link in my sig if you want to know more about the progress of the game as they're developing it. Ninja'd by mZLY.... AGAIN.

    Creepy stuff

It is something we never speak of here on the forums for he is always watching.
  15. I do find it amusing that people will complain that the mod is boring/frustrating or lacks end game, usually after they've played it for 800 hours or so. ANY game will get boring after a certain amount of time.
  16. The pants are a work in progress. I'm sure over time we will see the pants evolve until they reach their true potential.
  17. This is probably the most discussed topic on the forums. Just sayin.
  18. I think the point of it at the moment is to be purely functional. It's going to be constantly tweaked/changed/edited ect (literally every few hours at this point) and until they're happy with a final set-up I don't think they believe it's worth wasting time on prettying it up. It could be months before they decide they are finally happy with the layout/functionality etc. and I guess at that point it'll be time to see what can be done in terms of adding a satisfying look to it. Using what they've shown I could easily jump into PS right now and make it look infinitely better in an hour or two. However there could be two problems with that, one is that it may not fall into the strict criteria that is needed to literally be functional within the engine and the other is that tomorrow it could all need doing again depending on what changes the devs make to the base UI. I would be wasting my time as would any other artist at this point. That's how I read the situation anyway.
  19. It's off topic for this thread so not ideal. My initial instinct would be to allow a thread where it can be discussed although it's tricky because I don't think it's something we'd like to promote or draw attention to regardless of how many people have seen it. For us it's not a case of any legalities etc it's just a case of respecting the devs work and this is their forum. It's not really my call TBH so I'll discuss it with the other mods and admins to see how we all feel about it. I would worry that a thread dedicated to the discussion of it would be promoting it and people that may not have been inclined to check it out may then actively search for it and for that reason it doesn't sit well with me. Having said that censorship is not something we support here, we try hard to allow all things within reason to be discussed. Tricky, very tricky indeed... For now though lets discuss other matters.
  20. @ Triggy - That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the whole situation. Whilst I don't agree with much of the criticism (certain parts I do) I can understand why some/many are skeptical. I forget sometimes that being lucky enough to be a tester at this stage gives me an insight into some of their progress (not all of it), the way they work and how hard they work. When I step back and look at it from the outside I can certainly see why some people are either frustrated or not willing to just take the devs word for things based on a few screenies. I think in the near future though we will be seeing a lot more in terms of both content and general progress and hopefully then people will understand. I think the biggest issue the devs have faced in terms of showing progress is that much of the early work has been on the engine itself to give them a solid base, people get sick of hearing "we're working on client/server architecture" etc but the importance of it can't be overstated if in the future we want to see a solid game. Over the next few months as they continue to add content and things that we the gamer can actually look at or play we will start to see the fruits of their labours and hopefully many that have lost faith in them over the last few months may start to remember what bought them here in the first place and why they initially supported Rockets project. It will take time though.
  21. No idea lol. I guess E3 is on Monday so we should be getting lots of info from that. It's not so much a devblog but it could be a better source of info, as well as demonstrating certain features the devs will also be interviewed (relentlessly) so we should have more to talk about then. Maybe even an update on the font for the UI if we're lucky.
  22. Everyone has been really helpful and it's appreciated by all of us. In future people are free to PM us if they are concerned or would like to report anything. The devs and us are aware of the full situation but now it's out there there is only so much that can be done, tis the way of the interwebz. Lets discuss the devblog .
  23. i apologise for being so blunt and appreciate your help. I just thought it had been really clearly stated many times already.
  24. Yes, and for the last time the files being downloaded and then played/streamed/filmed/viewed are an old build. That is instantly very clear to any of the people involved in testing and the devs Back on topic please.
