    Get rid of chernarus.

    Yes, one thing I've not seen enough of in all my years of gaming has been America *yawn*. It's actually precisely because the game's not set in America and signs aren't in English that adds to the feeling of disorientation and sense of being lost. Regarding Cherno, well for the near future you're gonna have to accept that's where the game will be based. In the longer term though I have no doubt that we'll be seeing other maps.
  2. Agreed. I absolutely think there should be high-end military gear in the SA and I'm glad it's going to be there. I also think it should be very rare and it looks like that will be the case too so all in all at this point I'm a happy bunny.

    Please do not be upset. And please do not put words in my mouth. If you read what I said properly and calmly you will see that I said the new patch is not perfect, they never are. They get released and then they get "fixed" after reading critiscms and feedback. That is exactly what is happening with this one and it will forever be that way because that's the nature of modding.

    Nobody's saying the last patch was perfect. EVERY SINGLE TIME a patch is released it's the same. People cry about it for a bit and swear that they'll only play on servers offering the last patch. People don't like change, ever. It's been that way for ever and it was the same when Rocket used to patch it. Razor and the other community devs will be looking at the feedback and tweaking the patch via hotfixes, he's already posted on how he intends to adjust the infection system and the "knockdown" mechanic. Again, this happens every time so it shoudn't be a new process to layers that have been here for a while.

  7. I saw him talk about it the other day in an interview. The reason they haven't showed any nightime play atm is because in Deans opinion it currently looks like shit. Apparently they're working hard on it atm so we'll see. From testing I can say it's already an big improvement over the mod.

    I don't think the mod devs should ever worry about player numbers or being "popular", Dean certainly didn't when he created the mod. If it get's to the point where there's only 3 - 4 servers struggling to fill up then maybe it'll be time to give up and move on, in the mean time I think they need to just keep on keeping on, all the time remembering what made DayZ popular to begin with. Maybe player numbers will drop over the next few months, I'd be surprised if they didn't but thats no reason to start making concessions to appease the casual players. *runs away*

  10. I've got mixed views on making info like that publicly available. On the one hand it's be interesting to see just how much of everything there is in the world and what is rare but ideally it will be kept secret. That way rumours of "special" items can circulate on the forums and we'll only get to know what's rare by playing or reading others experiences.

  12. Agreed. As I said before I wasn't bashing on Jack, actually it was a really good interview and he asked good questions. I think the things he asked maybe represented what his viewers wanted to know, and it's his responsibility to ask on their behalf. Also it was nice to see Rocket able to address the high-end loot issue. Personally for me, I think having "Global" loot tables is a bit of a masterstroke and it's purely a result of them investing time early on in re-building the engine. Sure it means content-wise for now it's looking a bit thin but adding content is technically the easy bit. I can already imagine the trading we'll see here in a few months time with people looking for that ultra rare Hazmat suit, thermal undies, rare hunting rifles or anything else you can imagine. It's worth remembering that Dean plans to add "thousands" of items over the next few months and crafting will become a big part of the game. It's these new aspects of the game I'm genuinely looking forward to.

    Bounty Hunting (Suggestion Mainly for Standalone)

    This is a nice suggestion. However, something very similar will eventually be possible without actually having to mess with the game in order to contrive it. The strength of DayZ IMO is that it give people the freedom to use their imaginations and develop their own stories and play-styles. Of course in the MOD that's fairly limited but in the SA, as more content is added the world will open up. I see nothing stopping anybody setting up a bounty hunting business in the SA with what will already be available to them, the one thing that is missing is proof of the kill but maybe player diaries will solve that.
