    This site will be used for the SA when it's released. It may migrate to that address but this is the place you should come for all info currently. It's where the devs post any announcements and where lots of community discussion takes place. If you're still skeptical about progress after absorbing all of the info I've given you well, I can't help you with that :)

    There's actually tons of info on the dev tumblre here: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ Also, check out this thread where a kind user has conolidated all of the info available including most of the recent E3 interviews: http://dayzmod.com/f...s/#entry1373458 That should keep you amused for a few hours and if your questions aren't answered within all of that info than there is no answer :) The "official" website you're refferring to is not active yet and is just a placeholder for the future. The DevTumblre is where all previous "devblogs" are kept but each time there is a new devblog you can find it on this forum in the announcement section. As you can see, there is actually a vast amount of info regarding progress of the SA.

  5. For me it's important that the mil-sim "feel" is always there along with the gunplay. That's why I was so happy when they decided to use the RV engine and go with BIS because it's something they do better than most and provides a good backbone for the game. Once the game becomes more "balanced" and the gameplay shifts away from being purely a shooter with survival elements then I think we'll really start to enjoy the potential of a game like DayZ. There's already LOADS of games trying to emulate the survival theme but if the devs carry on down the path they've started I don't see anyone able to come close to what they're doing in the near future.
  6. I think guns and weaponry have become the main focus in the mod because the survival element is VERY limited. My hope is that in the SA guns and PVP will of course still play a major role but the survival element becomes much more of a day to day priority for the player and becomes the main focus. With thousands of new objects and crafting recipies people should now have a lot more to focus on in order to stay alive than just worrying about being shot. Really, the whole concept is an experiment because the devs are trying things that we've never seen in a game before, I think people forget that sometimes. Interesting times ahead...

    Agreed, keeping your playerbase happy is an almost impossible balancing act so I feel your pain. Sometimes though you do have to put your foot down otherwise you'll just be another server with hundreds of cars etc because "that's what people want".

    That's kind of the point of the SA, the mod is always going to have issues because it's a mod. Don't expect the SA to be easy though, survival-wise expect more of a challenge.

    KOS will never stop. It's an important part of the game. Maybe with some of the new mechanics in the SA there will be a small dip in numbers of people that KOS but anyone expecting it to be a nirvana, where we all band together for the greater good is going to be sorely dissapointed. It's not the game's fault, it's human nature that's to blame, good luck changing that.

    Never give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing how at first the game seems impossible and over time you learn to master it. The zeds are particularly challenging at the moment due to the recent patch, but it is possible to survive and thrive. You're at the very hardest moment in your DayZ history, learning the very basics. It get's a lot easier but it takes time and patience to learn.

  14. I'm not sure he is limiting what's available? The focus may change slightly but are you referring to the alpha release or the final product because if you mean the initial release then that's not a design decision that's just what will be ready in time. Weapons will be constantly added to the game along with various attachments as they are developed for many months to come, in fact it's likely that the end result will actually be a much larger and more varied range of weapons and gear, including the high-end military stuff. Maybe I'm missing your point though :/

    Your character is stored on the hive so even if you completely remove dayZ and then add it later your character will be safe.

    ^^Yup, what he said. In your main menu>expansions you can enable and disable any mods you want without having to mess around with files.
  17. Hmmm. I've got mixed views on meta-gaming and trading using the forums etc. Now in the perfect world (or game) we would conduct ourselves entirely within the game "world". We would use our radios to contact others or leave notes etc to try and trade. Now we all know that people will resort to using the forums etc to arrange meets and trade, I simply cannot think of a way of avoiding that and actually IMO it can add to the game so it seems better to embrace it. Many months ago before private hives became the norm, this forum was bustling with trade. I personally arranged a few trades and they all went very well. In fact I found that instead of detracting from the game it enhanced it. I would log in, arrange to meet with a couple of friends and then cautiously journey towards the meeting point. It would always be a tense affair and afterwards the sense of relief and achievment was like nothing else I've experienced in any other game. If we consider that the DayZ "economy" is going to have hundreds if not thousands of items and crafting recipies added over the next few months I'm truly looking forward to seeing what happens in terms of people setting up shops, trading dens and so on. The part of meta-gaming I truly hate though is loot-maps and so on. I really do hope that with the new system there will simply be no way of generating loot maps. Of course some areas should be better known for getting certain types of loot but nothing saddens me more when I see discussions of percentages etc, for me that ruins the game.

    You are aware that it's going to be tweaked aren't you? This happens with every patch. It get's released, the devs listen to the feedback and then tweak it it, it's been like that since day #1. Also, I have to say it's hard to take anyone seriously that suggests the mod has been broken to help SA sales, that's beyond stupid and doesn't deserve a reply. I'm not trying to patronise you but Razor has responded to the criticisms and you make it sound like nothing's going to change and it's the nail in the coffin for DayZ.

    Swiftkilla. Calm down with the bumping, it doesn't encourage people to join you, in fact it pisses everyone off. Bump ONCE a day, no more than that. You have also been reported by several members for posting your clan ad in their clan threads, again, this just pisses people off, it does not make them want to join you. Please accept this as a friendly warning, if it continues I WILL be placing restrictions on your ability to post. Please go and read the forum rules to refresh your memory.

  24. I kind of understand. There could be a legendary Enfield, made famous at the slaughter of Vybor and cherished by it's owner for many months. I dunno, my sentence is getting weirder than yours. We can dream can't we? I'm surprised no one has been discussing the newest addition, being able to actually pick up large objects in the game world to form barricades, that has potential for some interesting scenarios.
  25. Yup, although don't forget you risk ruining that gear because it will take damage if shot. Then you have to worry about disease.
