So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anyone that thinks the game (SA) doesn't need to be profitable or that Rocket doesn't want it to make money is naive, that's what game companies do, the people working on these games don't do it for free (apart from the mod, those devs do work for free). Making a game for a mass market is however an entirely different thing. They are not mutually exclusive, you can appeal to a niche audience and make money, lots of it. Many game companies have existed for years doing this by appealing to their specific markets and doing it well. Anyhoo, it's all slightly off topic :/ -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh god, well this is going waaaaay off topic. Of course the SA is a result of the mod. My point is that the mod was not created with the intention of making the SA, it's just nice that things have worked out that way due to popularity and without ANY advertising. The mod will continue to be a mod and as I said the SA will succeed or fail based on it's own merits regardless of what happens with the mod. -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Being profitable and making a game for the masses are two very different things. There are many unique games aimed at niche markets that are profitable, Arma 2 was one of them, there are many more examples. Turnover and profit are separate things. A game with a small team working on it does not need to make many sales compared to a a game like COD that has many millions of pounds invested in it each year. A small indie game can be profitable whilst still catering to the relatively small player-base they want to impress. -

No, it's just a free mod that became popular. The SA will be it's own thing and will succeed or fail based on it's own merits. -

Well you seem to be talking about games that are developed for sales. This is a free mod made by devs that work for free. Also, it has never been advertised, not once. Because it's a mod it will never be finished, it will just be constantly patched and evolve. Apart from that I do see your point :/ -
Because Other Games are Fun: Change Inventory Before It's Too Late
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I share some of your concerns AJ. In fact it's probably one of my main concerns regarding the SA currently. People are worried about animations etc but for me it's WAY to early in development to start pulling those apart. They've made great progress regarding the way loot now spawns (much more realistic and dynamic) and being able to open your inventory to "scan" the local area does seem to undo all of that hard work. I know the the intention is to make so that you WILL still have to search properly under beds etc and they aim to do this by using the LOS and vicinity mechanic. It doesn't look like they've got it right yet and I'm crossing my fingers that they do. I'm a careful, patient player in DayZ and I want to be rewarded for taking the time to search areas properly whilst people in a hurry may miss valuable loot. It's heavily in development atm so it's probably too early to say they've failed yet. If it stays as is once the alpha goes public then I'm sure they will get a LOT of feedback asking for it to be sorted out so one way or another I think we will end up with the inventory working the way we want it to. -

I don't know the technicalities of it I was just following Razors responses here about the zeds being nerfed, looks like it may not be intentional which gives me hope :) -
Hi. Please use the Russian forums. Cheers.

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol, yeh, it must be the most annoying job in gaming. I did just read that there's a bug in the hotfix so maybe I've been too hasty and they haven't been nerfed, time will tell. -

I think they just have to accept (the devs that is) that whichever way they go regarding difficulty that some people won't be happy with it. Of course there were some things that needed addressing in the last patch and it looks like they've done that but nerfing things every time people kick up a fuss isn't the way to go about it IMO. People need time to adjust and develop new gameplay styles before major changes are made. If Dean listened to all of the criticism about how "DayZ is too infuriatingly hard" when he first launched the mod we wouldn't be where we are today. Having said that I think Razor and co. are doing an awesome job in an almost impossible situation so kudos to them for keeping the mod alive. -

Haha, he beat me too it, cheers for the screenie though, we have some proper gun nuts here (not me) so you'll have to do better than that :). Dat is one sexy bolt though. -
Locked, nothing can be done. OP needs to stop pirating. @ Acoman - This is your third thread on our forums. Your first thread showed leaked SA footage, your second thread linked to a hacking website. I have already warned you about this. If you make one more thread regarding pirating, hacking etc. you will be permanently banned from using our forums.

So, I broke down and bought the game...question
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to OneGunSalute's topic in New Player Discussion
Your welcome. As I say you may be able to find some PVE servers but practicing on those will just make you better at PVE. In my opinion DayZ is fun/challenging because of the tension that comes from knowing you may be being watched by another player, it's that paranoia that has made DayZ famous. But, each to their own, everyone likes different things so find what works for you and have fun. -
Yeh agreed but zeds are kinda wierd. I like having them just sitting there freaking me out. I also get the feeling there are plans for them in the future judging by Razors last comment "they do nothing for now".

So, I broke down and bought the game...question
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to OneGunSalute's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes, there's a few apparently. My personal opinion is that half the fun if not all of it is learning the game whilst knowing you are under threat from other players, it'll make you a much better player in the long run. Also, if you want some basic training to get used to the controls etc then Arma (that's tha game you're purchasing) has lot's of tutorials from basic movement to flying planes. You should try those first to get familiar with the controls, then you can just join a normal DayZ server when you feel comfortable. -
If they were roaming they wouldn't be idle

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to ghillieSniper1993's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Cheers. I don't use Commander so wasn't aware of that. Looks like it's too late and he's gone for the full reinstall now :/. BTW - OP, you didn't have to re-download everything but looks like you've done it now, hope it fixes your issue. -

Please help, im new.
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to ghillieSniper1993's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yup, in your case if something's corrupted it's best to do a fresh install. If you haven't played for a few months it could be that a file has been moved or something else. It's not as long winded as it sounds and should get you up and running. -
Will Dayz Standalone be easier to run/Crosshair
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to stewiesboys's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As confirmed by Rocket several times throughout E3, the crosshair is a placeholder because as they develop and test they need an easy way to identify the centre of the screen, it will be changing, as will many of the things you saw at E3. -
This game is PvP not PvE
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Eldo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you're safe, he posted that 9 months ago :/ Anyway, I think the main reason for people resorting to PVP is pure and simple: BOREDOM. People play this game for hundreds of hours and if you break it down the content is very limited. Once you've mastered surviving and collected what you want/need there really isn't much left for you to do, especially for those lacking imagination. -
E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
What would be lovely would be if it was posted here on the official forums and then if other forums (Reddit *cough*) are interested they can come and get it. Usually it's the other way around ;) Anyway, everythings shaping up well so dont let us keep you from your work, I was only trying my luck by asking. Personally I like not seeing too much until we play, it keeps things interesting. -
