Balota Buddies Whitelisted! AU/US(Public)/EU Servers Chernarus/Namalsk/Origins, Active Admins/No Abuse/JSRS/Custom AntiHack
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Kebab Remover's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey Inception. You should get rid of the other server adverts including my old UK46 one and make a sexy fresh new one including that info laid out as you have it there, maybe with a link to the JSRS mod. I don;t think I've seen any BB ads clearly listing features like that so it'd probably pull a few peeps in. I think although everyones heard of BB because we never shut up about it a lot of peeps are still confused about exactly whats on offer. -

Are Battleye filters needed/required?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Agreed lol. I guess what I'm saying is that really people don't give a shit about the admins as long as the server is hack-fee (as much as possible), it has the settings they want and they know you deal with issues quickly, maturely and can be trusted not to abuse your position. -

I've never understood why people need custom admin skins either TBH (just my personal opinion btw). People just want to play the game on a hack-free server, that really is all they want. As an admin you don't need to be in-game as a community support officer, running around checking everyone's ok and helping them out. Any advice/community support ect. should be done away from the game either here on our forums (you can start your own thread and chat to players there), your own forums or via TS etc. It's great that you want to be a helpful admin but those efforts should go towards building your playerbase, dealing with hackers and handling player issues/disputes like combat logging and so on. All of that can be done without you actually playing the game at all. When I used to admin initially I would play on the server as a regular guy but it didn't take long for me to figure out that by doing that your putting yourself in a awkward position. if you kill another player and they know it's you then you open yourself up to claims of admin abuse because to be an admin you'll need to be checking the admin map etc and you can't forget all of that information. I guess it really depends what you're looking for as an admin. If you want a server for you a and a few friends to enjoy then none of this really matters and you can do what you want but it will always be just you and your friends on there with the occassional person checking it out and the odd hacker passing through. If you want a popular server with a good community and a decent regular playerbase then there's a lot more to think about and it's a lot of hard work. Anyhoo, good luck whichever path you choose. Edit - I typed that ^ before i read your post about it being a PVE server although i guess some of it still applies. -

So far you've received some good advice from experienced admins, not bitching, you should be more grateful IMO and maybe even try saying thanks. If you really feel the need to make your admins identifiable then why not give them a custom skin? Giving them unique weapons is not the best way to identify somene and I have to agree with the guys above - if I started playing on a server and realised the Admins were giving themselves "special" weapons I wouldn't come back, for all I know you could also be giving yourselves helis and cars too, that's not the type of server a lot of people like to play on. I'm not saying you are doing that BTW I'm just saying that is the impression you'll give your playerbase. If you want your server to be popular you need people to trust you. This is not bitching, it is advice from people that have admined popular servers, myself included. -
Computer shuts off randomly?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to lesliehapablap's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Nice, I didn't know that. The reason I keep banging on about overheating is because by opening my case and cleaning everything with compressed air it solved so many issues I was having. I was getting similar temp readings to the OP. I've also heard that temp readings are not always accurate. Even if you're not sure I still HIGHlY recommend anyone cleans the inners of their rig occasionally. Seriously, when I opened mine up the amount of dust in there was embarrasing, i just had to look at it to know it must be causing issues. When I asked some of my mates it turns out hardly any of them regularly clean it out and some have had over-heating issues. It's a VERY cheap way of keeping things running nicely, it's at least worth trying before you start looking at new fans etc. and should be something every one does as basic maintanence along with the usual defragging etc. -
other map parts video of sa
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to itamar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's for a few reasons. Firstly much of the map is currently being worked on/changed still, secondly they don't want to show us everything before we actually play because it will ruin the fun/surprises. -
I might quote you in my sig to spread the word, so many "QQ Devs have caved in to popular demand" threads it's getting painful.

They're adding live streaming internet radio so that'll be cool. As long as you find a radio in game. Weather will be more important in the SA too. -

You're in the right place, there is no release date yet. It's been hinted that it may be in the next few weeks but they haven't commited to that yet. -

DayZ SA - Hosting & Security
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to gummy52's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now I'm in no way qualified, knowledgable enough or furnished with enough facts to really enter this debate so I'll leave you guys to it. All I would say is that it does strike me that they may have thought through the security implications thouroughly considering that is pretty much the number one issue in terms of the early development of DayZ SA. Carry on. -
Why not a new map for the SA instead of Arma Map....
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to supermarco's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed. I honestly think DayZ is something we're going to see evolve over years, it's not gonna be a one hit wonder IMO. That's why I just can't get stressed at this point in development when I see some buggy animations or tha fact they're using Chernarus. Once they've got to a point with the SA that they consider it complete, stable and bug-free then the new maps etc will open up a while new world of possibilities. -
Cheers Amber :) you can trust him on Teamviewer BTW he won't steal your key.

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to lesliehapablap's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just make sure that before you spend any money at least try giving the insides a good clean, even if you're getting good temperature readings because they can be inacurate sometimes. If the top of your rig is dusty it's probably much worse around your fan and the intakes etc. I clean mine every month or two now and it makes a massive difference. -
We have lot's of air-raid shelters left over from WW2 when Germany bombed the shit out of us. They're awesome. My nan had one in her garden and they're dotted all over the UK near schools, hospitals etc, mostly they've been sealed off though. I'm sure the rest of Europe has them to because most of it was bombed at some point. Regarding Doomsday prepping I do have a feeling that's pretty unique to the US. Don't get me wrong, Europe has lot's of survivalists etc and I'm sure some have built bunkers but it seems to have been taken to a whole new level in the US. I wonder if it stemmed from the cold war and the paranoia about a nuclear attack?
