  1. Yup, it's not ready. However much we hate waiting and however much we say we're willing to accept bugs etc (rest assured there'll be rivers of tears flowing through the forum due to bugs) there's still certain elements that simply have to be in place both logistically and technically. That's just a fact and no level of frustration on our part will change that. I disagree that intrest is fading. When the devs are quiet for a while so is the community. The recent explosion of hype and activity following E3 and Rezzed shows that the interest is still very much there.

    Yes it does need to be elaborated on because people seem to increasingly use the word "arcadey" or "Consoley" as a lazy way of making their point. For example i've seen people saying that the new UI is "Arcadey" simply because it's easier to use. Anyhoo, regarding the zeds I'll wait and see as with everything else. We've only really seen it in a semi-broken state and have no idea how it's going to play out.

    As well as performance issues there's also the issue of maps just becoming littered with player created structures.

  6. Yes, lot's of things. It's all in the devblogs and recent E3 info. The most recent thing I heard mentioned was a prison, we've seen the ship already and there's more to follow that. Currently they're working on the north of the map as I understand it. BTW the Seattle map from TOH needs more than fleshing out. It was designed for a flight sim. It's mainly just lot's of square blocks on a flat sattelite image.

    Why is the player counter stuck?

    There's a long-winded technical answer that i can't remember but basically it's stuck. TBH even if it was working we'd have no idea how many people play. There's no way of recording player numbers for private hives so we'll never know.

  11. I haven't heard of that issue before which makes me think it's an issue with your hardware rather than Arma/DayZ. Are your GFX drivers and so on up to date? Does this happen in Arma or just DayZ or both?

    Hmmm, this may sound rude but I'm glad you're having a hard time with the new changes. Server hopping for loot in Electro isn't really the playstyle I think the devs are trying to encourage or DayZ in general is any better for. Have you tried Arma 2 or even the new Arma 3? They're awesome games and pvp is very much a priority within them. Action all the way, I highly recommend it for people finding the mod too slow. Just my thoughts Edit - That wasn't sarcasm btw, it's an honest suggestion. I recently introduced a friend to Arma 3, he's been playing DayZ for a while and loves the pvp elements but finds the scavenging for loot a "chore" and death "too frustrating". DayZ is quite a slow game and takes patience and time, Arma is much more action packed.

    Flight stick support in standalone

    I'd imagine it will be a while before we see helis in the SA but I did ask Matt Lightfoot about it quite a while ago and he said they were considering using the flight mechanics from TOH (a heli flight-sim from BIS) so yes, if that's done it will be supported. The flight models in TOH are much better than Arma 2 so you should have a lot to look forward to. As a note of caution though this was a few months ago, so far I haven't seen any news of heli's being confirmed at all for the SA

    I think almost every popular multiplayer game released has had some sort of issue. I just hope they're prepared for it and deal with any issues quickly and communicate to us what the issues are. If it get's released without 1 single hickup I'll be truly amazed. I'm hoping that the way Arma 3 is being rolled out is a sign of what we can expect with DayZ. It's methodical and they're communicating well. They're also making pretty quick progress.

    It depends on the server admins and what they allow. I've used it on several servers.

    Don't worry, I agree with you. I think some of the people that are creaming their pants are the people currently playing with low res models and graphics options turned down. They think the SA is the answer to their prayers but the reality is although (in my experience through testing) performance is somewhat improved if they can't run Arma 2 at a decent rate then they're gonna have a bad time.
  22. The best thing to do after a break is to check the announcements and info sections of the forum. In there you will see a lot of E3 presentations and the new Rezzed stuff showing the latest SA build, all of it was released after Rocket returned from Everest. The devblogs can be handy too. Locked.

    I didn't say they were special and as I said before Arma 2 can look amazing. In reality though not many people get to experience that due to famously bad optimisation. The SA is being optimised so that many more players can experience those levels of detail. Both games are using the RV3 engine at their core, the SA is managing to get a lot more out of it.

    I do take your points, there does have to be balance and optimisation though, that's just a fact and it's something every game company wrestles with, especially when it comes to multiplayer gaming. I certainly don't have the answers, I'm just providing facts.

    There's thousands of servers out there, if you've found one you're happy with that's actively adminned I'd stick with it. There are many good servers with good admin teams out there but there are many more badly run ones so if you like what you see enjoy.
