    Maybe that is indeed what the tools are for hmmmm? I don't think they're adding items for just for eye candy. You can be pretty sure at this point that any new items you see added to the SA will serve a purpose.

    I think he's referring to a dodgy exe. that was doing the rounds a while ago. It promised DayZ single player and then stole your key. Anyoo OP, you won't find a non-BE server without hackers, that's what they're for.
  3. It's literally the format that does my eyes in. It's not a competition or ego thing. I've got to know the Reddit mods well over the last couple of months and they're all great guys, in their defence with the devblog thing, it was jumped on them without any notice and really Rocket shouldn't have gone about it that way or released it after watching it back, he did appologise to them personally afterwards because they got a lot of stick for that. I think people just get confused with where to look for info and that's the main issue.

    Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

    Until the bodies start piling up and the cities become too risky to visit due to disease unless you have the right gear, that'll mix things up a bit and induce many a tear from people that just want to do the whole Cherno/Electro PVP thing, it should at least break their cycle of play. That Enfield you just grabbed off a noob will probably kill you.

    A question for my fellow uploaders.

    Hmm, weird. I start with raw avi. files and then convert them to WMV files. When I upload the quality stays the same. I'd double check your encoding settings, a 15 min HD vid I uploaded recently was only 591mb in size so if you have 20Gig files it sounds like somethings wrong unless they're extremely long vids.

    Yes, but BE needs to know which scripts are cheats and which are allowed, hence needing to update the filters.

    Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

    I disagree but I beaned you because it made me chuckle. BTW I don't disagree about KOS bieng better or worse, I think it'll be much the same, maybe initially it'll drop while people figure things out but over time KOS will still be a major way people play. I think spawn campng and people sitting on sniper hill popping heads for no reason will be largely dealt with because in theory players just won't have the vast amount of ammo they do now so will have to use it a bit more wisely. It really doesn't bother me, it just adds to the paranoia and keeps me sharp which is why I love DayZ anyway.
  12. It's not just security that the engine overhaul allows although of course that's a major reason. It's the reason they will now be able to introduce weapon degradation, customisable weapons and cars, a new loot spawn system, a new Zed spawn system, global loot tables and many other aspects that will differentiate the SA from the mod. If they hadn't done it and done it properly we would literally just be paying for a polished up mod.

    Rezzed - June 2013 - Developer Session

    I kind of agree :/ I think it would be nice to see Rocket and Co. making nice organised progress reports on this (the official) DayZ forum. It would certainly solve a lot of confusion if there was one locked thread where they could post status reports, however small. Having said that, the recent presentations at both Rezzed and E3 reached out to a much larger audience than this forum ever will and by watching one or 2 vids including the Q&A sessions from those events you can get the most recent info and state of the game there is so far and with that in mind if people are genuinely interested in the games progress that should be thier port of call for now, as with most games that presented there. Rocket used Twitter to address some of the concerns about zeds etc after those events and that info was then discussed at length both here and on Reddit. tldr; Yes it would be nice to see Rocket making organised status updates on these forums but there is really no excuse to not be informed about the game at this point in time if you're genuinely interested in it.

Radios were relatively very easy and didn't take many resources or time to add, they take advantage of the VOIP system already widely used within the Arma engine, it's the engine overhaul for security that's taken the time, without that there is no game, or at least not one people will want to spend money on. There really is only so many times this can be said before I start facepalming too.

    Rezzed - June 2013 - Developer Session

    I have to ask, did you actually watch any of the vids or absorb any of the information within them? The zombie spawning system has been completely overhauled, zeds will now all spawn together on server start up and wander around the map, if you clear an area, it's clear unless other zeds wander in. I'm not even giong to bother addressing your concerns about the zeds hit detection etc, Rocket has made many posts explaining that it's basically broken and using placeholder animations and not synched up in the DEVELOPMENT BUILD they showed at E3 and Rezzed. It'll look like crap until everything is in place, thus is the nature of development builds. Sorry if I sound a bit snappy, it's just getting frustrating seeing so many posts made by people that clearly haven't watched the vids in full, they just see a broken animation or a radio playing 80's music FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES and then switch their brains off.

    Players who are global banned

    I don't personally know a single person that's been globally banned since I started playing. I do have an Uncle in prison that gets bored though and he'd really appreciate a pen-pal if you're one of those types of guys.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

    It is a standalone game, completely separate from the mod and you'll download it like any other normal game. What we are playing at the moment is a mod for Arma2, hence all of the messing around needed to play it.

    It should be relaesed anytime between now and 2 months time according to latest information. The mod that we play now will continue to be free and developed by the community, I'd expect it to still have a relatively healthy playerbase as people like the variation it can offer. We don't know how much it will cost but it will be cheap to reflect the fact that it will be released in development. You will purchase and download it via Steam. It will not require Arma to run, hence the term "Standalone". All of this info is available in the "information" section of the forums and the devblogs found here: Devblogs . Have a read it will answer most of your questions in detail.

    Hmmm, but still no sources. Why? because it was just speculation, largely based on the fact Rocket said there would be a review in June.
