Nametags won't exist, they are due to the current version being a mod of Arma. Having said that it's just a difficulty setting and many servers don;t have nametags. Regarding the crossshair, the last thing Rocket said about it that I read was that it's there as a placeholder for now because it makes it easier in the development build, for some things they need to know where the center of the screen is, he said they have a few ideas atm by nothing confirmed.

Exactly. No point tryng to please everyone, it can't be done. Just do what you gotta do to make DayZ the mod you think it can be, the people the end result appeals to will love it, the people that don't will QQ and leave, such is life. You owe them nothing.

Yeh, one I'd like to see that would take some skill and fit well would be when it comes to repairing cars. You could try different things from your inventory to start it up but would take actual knowledge to do it well or quickly. It wouldn;t have to be super complicated, it could be fairly basic but still need some knowledge. Having seen the tools that are being added to the SA I have a feeling we might see something like that too once they overhaul the vehicle system later on.

Agreed, i can be a pain in the ass if you don;t follow the steps correctly, if you do though it's pretty straight forward. If you run into trouble just post your issues up here somewhere and we'll get you up and running.

I only made it to be a bit of a dick but in truth that is how many people see it. I've got loads of mates that play DayZ and it's pretty much split down the middle in terms of who plays bandit/hero etc. For me it's just not black and white like that anyway. For example I used to play as a medic but if I was on the way to help someone I'd pretty much kill anyone that got in my way because I enjoy a good firefight and didn't want to die before I could help whoever I was on the way to helping. Tricky really. I think most players are in the grey area in-between tbh.

I'd like something like this. I think when you say "mini-games" in relation to DayZ people cringe and write it off before thinking about it because the words just sound too cutesy for the bleak world of DayZ. If done well however they could fit and add some extra interest to what would otherwise be potentially boring moments.

Yeh let's not be too harsh on the guy, his heart was in the right place, he's just a bit pissed. Edit - I forgot to teach him some manners: @KOS - In a group dining situation it is considered impolite to begin eating before all the group have been served their food and are ready to start. Also, the soup spoon should never be put into the mouth, and soup should be sipped from the side of the spoon, not the end. Sorted.

This game feels unplayable and to complicated to get into.
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to kealthkewk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi. Most of the issues you mention are a result of DayZ being a free mod for Arma 2 (It's Arma 2 that you purchased). It can be confusing for people not familiar with using mods but there's little that can be done about it due to it's nature. The SA will be a game that will be released in a more traditional way and will install using the traditional methods. Regarding falling in the air then dying, that sounds like hackers. The answer to that is to find a reputable server with good admins. -

Standalone and Xbox
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Lightvision (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed. I've got nothing against consoles either. Luckily Rocket has made it pretty clear that DayZ will be developed for the PC. If it is ported in the future they will outsource it to another company so it won;t really affect the SA or it's development at all. If it ends up being a shite port then it doesn't affect us (PC gamers) in any way. -
@Jason Don't link to sites that aren't official BIS key retailers. Unless you want more people to get scammed.

Buy a new CD Key or get ARMA3?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to B Allred's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
How are we supposed to help if we don't know how much money you have or what happened to your old key? If money's no object do both. If it is I'd get Arma 3 but then bare in mind it's in Beta and you won't be able to play DayZ until the SA'a out. -
As long as it's not OP. On grass it should be limited to 3mph.

Dayz Origins - DayZ of the future?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well the latest info suggests (not confirmed) that they will initially release the SA with the basic vehicles we know and love (hate) now. Then when they move onto giving them the full overhaul for customisation etc they will be removed and replaced with the new system/vehicles. Regarding the map, I kind of agree although so much work is going into the new Chernarus map that I reckon there'll be enough new stuff there to keep most of us entertained for a while, large areas of it will be completely different with many new structures etc. It's only a matter of time before we see new maps for the SA. Rocket has talked about giving the well known guys that have made some of the popular maps (Taviana, Namalsk ect) the resources and training they need to make professional quality maps that can be added to the SA further down the line. -
Dayz Origins - DayZ of the future?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup, even if ported into the RV4 engine Arma3 uses it'll still be a buggy mess, probably worse so than now, that's the number one issue all mods face and the reason Rocket moved on so quickly from the mod to the SA. In fact with every new addition to Origins (and DayZ Mod) the bug situation gets more complex because they're trying to bend another game (Arma 2) to their will. The SA will be able to tackle bugs head on and fix them, it's strength lies in the fact that they have access to the engine itself, when they're happy they have a solid base to build on the new content will come thick and fast. -
Dayz Origins - DayZ of the future?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Origins does have some nice touches that spice things up, in many peoples opinions though it strays too far from DayZ and the reasons they liked it to start with. That's not a bad thing in itself because modding is all about trying different ideas out but it's become something different now, again a good thing for them but not what a lot of DayZ players are looking for. Over time Origins will be left for dust by the SA though, that's my opinion and there's hundreds of reasons I've spoken about before as to why I think that. Eventually none of the mods will be able to compete although as I say that will take a bit of time, the SA will be a grower and as you see more and more content and ideas added over the next year Origins will be a pleasant (or not ) memory. The SA is DayZ of the future, due to many engine and coding restrictions the mods will always be stuck in the past.
