Yup, as above. The Arma 2 missions are good fun too.
-
No.
-
Agreed. I did dabble with Reddit but it's just not the same. Then I started getting cold sweats so I set up a Twitter account but spamming my thoughts to my two weird porn-bot followers just wasn't doing it for me either.
-
Well at least we can confirm you as a troll and move on now.

^^what was your name again? I jest, welcome back.

Hurragh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried posting on Reddit but it hurt my eyes.

WTF! I'm gettin rusty :/

Yeh, it's becoming pretty common now (KSP, Prison Arhitect, Don't Starve etc). Anyhoo, I'm locking this (no offence OP) because it's been asked and answered a lot elsewhere. JIMI FTW!

I hope they add this to DayZ SA

Yeh, some of us old gits have wives, kids girlfriends etc. that enjoy sleeping. It can be hard enough to find some precious gaming time as it is, when I disappear to my man-cave sanctuary it's to escape the world for a bit. If I have to start screaming into my mic at 2 in the morning it's never gonna go down well. -

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yes it can be frustrating but Rockets explained why they haven't publicly declared a release date (they do have an internal one). We're just going to have to accept that. -
Well we haven't really ever had a weekly devbog, only a couple of times did they actually manage it and it's been that way for months. Here's what Rocket had to say about it yesterday: "I am getting an increasing amount of contact from people who do seem rather desperate to play DayZ. Also those who wonder why there has been no devblogs and such. Few simple reasons: 1. We are really busy making the game, and the pace is such that by the time we'd finish a decent video blog it was so out of date that it would give the wrong impression. 2. There is enough "PR" already coming from pre-committed engagements like E3, gamescom, pax, etc... without adding to any hype that had already been generated. 3. We want to make a great game, we don't want to rush. I think there are some who are thinking "I really want the alpha to be released!" who should actually be saying "I really want the alpha to be GOOD" I do realize that the majority of those waiting, and also the majority of reddit, want the alpha to be good and not simply released. My purpose here is to try and succinctly explain why we should all want it to good rather than just released. What we don't need: - To rush the release because we are "losing hype" or because people are losing interest. That's fine, it won't damage the experience on release unless less than about 1000 people buy the alpha. the mod was still very fun with just 1000 players. - To fill the world will devblogs, updates, and trade shows. I feel like I am now doing the bare minimum. I'm going to the shows largely because I believe that interfacing directly with people in the industry (such as E3) and the players (gamescom, pax, rezzed, eurogamer) is something that I wish game designers did more of. I just don't have time to do any more interfacing than this bare minimum. So hopefully that gives people some perspective on what my thoughts are on where we are at."

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The fundamental difference between the mod and the SA is that people will be paying money for the SA, with that comes certain expectations and consumer rights. People are/were happy (mostly) to accept the flaws of the mod because it's a free mod and most understand the limitations modding entails. Even if they weren't happy with it they had no path of recourse and Dean could just say "deal with it, I owe you nothing, take it or leave it." When you're dealing with paying customers that is not the case. Anyhoo, as stated frequently by Dean himself, he's not making us wait due to a sadistic nature, he's clearly said he wants it released for public feedback ASAP but the fact remains certain things have to be taken care of and put in place first, that's just how it is. If that's not done we'll literally have nothing to play or offer our feedback on. -
I hope they add this to DayZ SA

I'm not sure how it would work. You could set up your mike levels and speak directly into it to have a booming God voice and annoy the hell out of everyone within 500m, without shouting. If it wan't volume related then it'd have to rely on speech recognition or vocal tones etc and that seems a bit of a way off. -
It's July, where is the Standalone?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Odahviing's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi, as Tactic said there was never a date set for June. Progress is good though so if all goes well it'll be here in time for your new PC :) I'm gonna lock this because we get a few of these a day and it clutters the boards. -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I was refering to the fact you said it would be released without vehicles. Nothing has been confirmed. The latest info was that they may port the vehicles in as they are now and then remove/swap them later when they get overhauled to allow for customisation etc. If you're expecting them to handle like they do in GTA then you're setting yourself up for disapointment. That's one of the biggest games in the world with a massive focus on driving :/. The carpets for the new interiors probably won't look as good as The Sims either. -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
And did you listen to the Q&A's too or the commentary? Most of the zombie stuff was out of synch or using place-holders. That's what happens with development builds and it's why most game companies don't allow the public to view them. Most games at this stage look pretty shit, in fact most pre-alpha games look at lot worse than what we saw at Rezzed or E3. -
July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
That's the whole reason they're making an SA instead of perservering with the mod, to address the fundamental flaws, bugs and security issues. It can't be done with the mod because it's a mod. -
I'd recommend After Effects over Flash any day tbh, I've worked with both. There are many similarities but with AE there's just so much more you can do. As an animation tool it's pretty flawless. There's some really good plug-ins you can use for inversed kinematics etc that makes character animation much easier, it has a great puppet tool so you can rig up characters etc easily. When you add to that all of the actual "effects" that are part of the package it becomes pretty awesome.
