    FPS in DayZ -- HELP

But it's 2.2GHZ. Arma is different from many other games, it's very CPU intensive. Having said that I'd expect you to be getting more than 10fps.
  2. I agree, and for the mod they have VERY limited options so giving a player a new skin was pretty much the only option they had. For the SA though they aren't restricted like that so hopefully we will see something more elegant. Rocket has talked about player faces maybe changing over time as well as other ideas.

    Low FPS

Try getting your 3D resolution to match your interface resolution. Also, try a few different servers.
  4. I was having an identity crisis.
  5. I actually agree. I've never like the bandit/hero system it's just not elegant enough. I do like the idea of having blood on your clothes/hands if you've recently looted a dead body though. It's not an indicator of good or bad but in some situations could help you figure out someones intentions.
  6. Fraggle (DayZ)

    Low FPS

Sometimes having them set to the lowest possible put's more strain on your CPU to put some up a bit. Also do your 3D and screen resolutions match? Turn off the PPE too.

    Low FPS

Open the game and then open video settings. In there you'll see all of the usual options for tweaking your settings.
  8. Scripting literally won't be possible and that's the "hacking" that caused the most issues and nearly killed the mod at one point. I'd still expect to see some of the usual hacks we see in other games (Aimbot's etc) but measures are being taken to try to limit that too. The "client bubble" thing sounds interesting, I won't pretend I understand it though :/
  9. Fraggle (DayZ)

    Low FPS

Have you tried tweaking the video settings in-game yet?

Massive loot spawn and item overhaul

The loot system for the SA will be completely different. For the mod they're very restricted as to what can be done because of the nature of modding another game.
  11. The SA is being held back to increase sales of ANNO 2070. Fact.

    Make a war

Please use your other thread or use a report if you want to make a war. Cheers. Locked.
  13. Actually, that's a good point and something that hadn't crossed my mind. Can you imagine the tears if they had to wipe the database, Jesus Christ it doesn't bare thinking about.
  14. No we're fine thanks. I was just talking to gooOgle about making love.
  15. It's supposed to be shit now, not when it's released. Not sure how many times Dean needs to say it but the fact is it's not ready to be released. It needs to be secure and stable, when it is it will be released. Until then there's no harm using their other resources to add content etc.
  16. Make love not war gooOgle.
  17. Thou wilt fall backwards when thou hast more wit.
  18. A plague on your houses. The mod will always be in alpha, call it what you want really it doesn't matter, it'll never be considered complete. The SA will follow a traditional route, starting with alpha.

DayZ is no longer what it used to be...

Sorry dude they just do :/. If you read/watch the recent Q&A with Razor you can see what they have planned too. Like I said, you got bored of it and that's cool, you can only play so much of one thing until it's time to move on.

    Opinions on armed vehicles?

That is the plan. It won't be implemented to start with but further down the line vehicles and the way they work will be overhauled.

DayZ is no longer what it used to be...

It is possible to just get bored of a game and that goes for the mod too. I've seen these posts every so often for last year or so, you just got bored of it, that's it really. Don;t hate on the game because you got bored of it after a few hundred hours of gameplay.

What happened to the dayz mod ?

I don't honestly think we'll see ANY of the mods managing to turn what they have now into a true survival experience which many of us want to see. Because DayZ is a mod of Arma 2 it will always be stuck with the fact that it's primarily a mil-sim. Every time they try to change one simple thing it opens up a can of worms for them in terms of bugs., it's now so heavily modified that there's areas of the coding they don;t want to touch because it will rock the boat and potentially break things that work well for now. A good example was mentioned above, the zombie zig-zagging is the "soldier" AI trying to dodge bullets and flank, if anything could be done about that, it would have been done months ago. I stopped playing the mod a couple of months ago, there's only so much time you can play something with fairly limited content. Having said that DayZ is by far the game I've clocked up the most hours on in the past year and the fact that anyone still plays it at all is a miracle. Most mods last a few months at the most, DayZ is still going strong well over a year now since it was made public. For me the future is with the SA, over the next year or more the mods will become a thing of the past (at least even more niche than they are now) as the SA demonstrates what is possible once you move on from modding a game to having access to the core of the game itself, the engine.

    DayZ Development Twitter

Personally I find it quite encouraging to have a lead dev that's passionate about gaming in general. He's a gamer so likes to discuss and play other games at times. It's precisely because he's a passionate gamer that a game like DayZ is being made, he's talked a lot in the past about other games that have inspired some of the ideas for DayZ.
