If the flashlight is on your toolbelt in the inventory then right click it. Then choose "remove from toolbelt". This equips it. Then use "L" to turn it on/off. Also, I reassigned the "L" key to the Spacebar. Makes life much easier.

For a noob, I would definatley suggest waiting for daylight/twilight. It'll be easier to get you head around it. Also, some nights are darker than others depending on the moon/weather ect. Good luck.

When you log on you'll get a hint (bottom right) of your location. Use that combined with your map to figure it out. If you need to know which way is north use your watch and the position of the sun. Also, the clouds always move from West to East.

No hating from me. It's not a way of playing that I'd find fun but I like the fact there's snipers like you out there, it keeps me on my toes. To be honest, if you stand on top of a building when you can hear sniper fire then you deserve a bullet in the head. Oh, and well done for not disconnecting when you came under fire. If all snipers were like you there'd be much less hate for this style of play. I think people at the moment just associate snipers with DC'ers. After a while it should have been pretty obvious to those dudes where you were and they should have either taken cover or tried to flank you.

I tried to crawl through the doorway of the first house saw. I got stuck and in my attempts to get up, broke both of my legs. I crawled back outside, through some gardens and got shot in the head by a silent bandit. Bastard.

You need Arma II:Combined operations. Operation Arrowhead is an Add-onn for Arma II.

Part of the game is that it's harsh and can reflect peoples attitudes in the real world. At least here if someone upsets you or is rude you can break their legs and watch them try and crawl away from you. That's usually a good moment to explain to them why you find their views offensive.

Yesterday I got my head stuck in a tree. I wasn't even really interested in that particular tree. I just stood next to it and "BAM!" it had hold of my head and wouldn't let go. I fought with everything I had but the tree just wouldn't quit. My bones broke one by one and blood spilled from every orifice. To cut a long story short, I died with my head in that tree. Before I was scared of Cherno, now I'm scared of forests.

I'm no expert but in my opinion that's not going to be powerful enough. DayZ use the Arma engine which is pretty well known for being resource hungry. To play any modern games nowadays you'll need a decent amount of RAM (at least 2 GIGS), a decent processor (multi-core if you can) and a decent graphics card. I may be wrong so it's worth getting some other opinions. Do you know what the other specs. of your PC are? Edit* I just found this quote on a review for that card : "When I added the graphics card it allowed me to play most games at medium settings. I was able to run battlefield 3 at medium settings and that is a graphically demanding game. Other than for improving the gaming capabilities of the computer the graphics card isn't all that much better than my built in graphics. It's cheap and works well though. It did lower my windows index experience on the performance for windows areo. It lowered it from 5.6 down to 4.5." Like I say it depends on a few other things. If you go to Start Menu/Computer/System properties and take a look at you specs it'll give you an idea what you have. Post it up here if you want and we'll see if it's enough. If not just be really nice to your Dad.
