DayZ Developer Blog 3rd August 2013
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yeh, Rockets talked about that in the past, it's not something I know much about or can pretend to understand though, all I do know is that they're very aware of it. -

No probs, don't worry, the devs are very aware of the potential threats to the security of the SA. It's probably the no.1 reason it hasn't been released yet. The client/server architecture as well as many other elements are all things that will go a long way to making the SA secure. -

Hi , please don't link to potential hacks. Quite often these things are posted in order to dupe people into downloading malware such as keystealers or worse. To answer your quesion though, yes, the hacking industry is a mulimillion dollar business so it's always a threat, as said in previous blogs (and this one) making the SA secure is the no. 1 priority although not 1 MP game in the world is 100% secure. -

Wrong. We will see in time I guess. Anyhoo, I was only pointing out some facts. You are right to say that you're not happy with them though as it's feedback like this that'll keep pushing the devs forward to improve things. -

You shouldn't expect anything to be complete in a pre-alpha development build. If you do you will always be dissapointed with what you see. -

As Rocket said, nothing is final, it's still very early on in development. As a tester (and a bias fanboy so take it or leave it) I have to say it's impressive how much progress gets made and how quickly issues/bugs are addressed. Every week I see very noticable improvements to almost every aspect of the game so it's really important to be aware that what you see here is just a (very early) work in progress. Every time we see a new blog some people think that it's representative of final gameplay, it isn't, it's representative of what they have implemented at the time of the devblog and will only be improved on greatly over time. If you go and watch some pre-alpha or even early alpha gameplay of some other games you will appreciate how much progress is being made. Very often at this stage of development a game is barely functional and missing many critical features and content. By any standards what we see here for this stage of development is impressive and with each patch the devs release I get more confident that it's shaping up into the game I was hoping it would be. -
Same. Remember tomorrow is devblog day. (maybe)

Yeh, there's always a catch QQ
-
Agreed. I don't mind people dishing out a bit of abuse about their development decisions but when it gets personal it's a tad much.
-
Even I get stalkers and I haven't got a clue what's going on. They must have a really bad time. Why are stalkers never hot single women? Maybe I'm moderating the wrong site. I just get neckbeards.

1000 pages of speculation and nobodies mentioned the SA being held back to drive Arma 2 sales yet. I am dissapoint.
-
Wrong thread dude.
-
Not recently enough...

I like it. I didn't think they were self sufficient though, I thought they had helis to supply them. Anyhoo it'd be nice to have one a way off the coast.
-
it's 8pm in Rocketland.
-
I daren't look. People rage hard over there and then upvote themselves to magnify their anger. I understand frustration and even the occasional bit of anger but some of the shit that get's posted is just stupid. Literally.
-
Double yay! Anyhoo, on topic, it sounds from that post by Rocket as if they're making the devblog now. History tells us that they take an incredibly long time so I'm gonna check back at midnight.
-
Yay we're still posting about that.
-
Offs, can you PM me about it if you're still concerned as I suggested before (twice now). It was a post asking about Take on Mars on a thread about a DayZ devblog, it got removed, the end.

Nope.

DayZ SA.... Mod or game?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The inventory is constantly changing so it'll probably end up being fairly different to what you saw at E3. Early days... early days..... -
Nope, just the worse. It's not unique to DayZ though, it's just a gaming thing.

DayZ SA.... Mod or game?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't understand the question :/ Are we talking about the actual mod now? In that case then yes that's very much a mod, it requires CO to run and that's why it's called a mod. Maybe I misunderstand you. Edit - oh I think I know what you mean now, do you mean if they charged for the mod then it wouldn't be a mod any more? No. Being called a mod has nothing to do with money, it means it's a game that uses modified game files to run and can;t run without that game. It's literally a hacked version of the original game, in this case Arma 2. The SA is using content specifically made for DayZ, in your first post you said most of the game is taken from Arma 2 and 3, that is simply untrue in every way. -
DayZ SA.... Mod or game?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hardly any games use a new engine. Excluding the map all content is new and it it does not rely on another game to run. By anyones definitions it can only be called a game. -
As I said there's is supposed to be a system in place that notifies the poster automatically, it seems to be having some issues. Should be fixed soon.
