Dayz standalone has been reported on Steam database in the early access!!
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to BlackDalia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Please use this topic where it's been discussed at length already for many days: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/149280-october-round-up-dayzdaily/page-71#entry1505844 Locked. -
He didn't. He said the administration of a release is time consuming. That could mean anything from legal matters to paying the right people I guess.

My attempt at a DIY 'Can I run it?'
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to dulix11's topic in New Player Discussion
I agree with the above. This is a really nice attempt at creating something for people to refer to but even with my very poor technical knowledge of PC's I know that there's just too many variables (especially when concerning Arma) to create something definitive. That's why the "Can I run It?" thread works so well because people can ask questions regarding specific rigs and people like Rossums etc can answer based on the info given. Keep going though, maybe edit your topic as you get feedback on this thread and eventually you may end up with something useful to other players, or not:/ -
Quick Tips For Starter (Submit a tip if you have one)
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Practice the basic controls in Arma first if you've never played before =) -
SORRY ABOUT THAT.

BECAUSE IT'S A DEVELOPMENT BUILD. Everything has 6 slots in the foortage you've seen. That will change to reflect the different clothes, as talked about in the actual devblogs.

[SA] A power station that could be kept running to supply power
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Owain1122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Moved to suggestions >>>>>> It has been discussed a lot before but to make it a decent suggestion imo you'll need to elaborate a bit by explaining what the payers would need to do to get the power station running and keep it going. -
I think what they're intending to do to stop people ghosting/sever hopping etc is to use algorythms of some sort to spot patterns. So if you're playing legitimately and occasionally lose your connection or change servers to join friends etc then everything will be cool. If they detect a pattern in your playstyle that shows a certain behaviour (eg: loot farming) then they'll start to punish you by giving you a delayed log-in that increases in time the more you abuse the system. That's what Dean said about it quite a while ago, sounds good in practice. Like everything else we'll see I guess. Ghosting was a bit of a gamebreaker for me when everyone played on public hives along with combat logging so if they can eventually deal with those two things I'll be a happy bunny. Edit - I think they've got a fairly simple fix for combat logging. When you log-out, your character stays on the server for 20 seconds (for example) so if you try to avoid getting killed by logging you'll still get killed, happy days!

Yeh exactly. It's like people that follow bands when they're all underground and cool but call them sell-outs when they finally make it and everyone else finds out about them. I love their rage.
-
No not really, in fact the least we say the better tbh. Regarding dogs though I think they were dropped way down the list of priorities a long time ago. The amount of work required to make them functional just isn't worth it at this point when they're just interested in building a solid foundation for the game. I think Dean posted something to that effect anyway. I'd like to see them added at some point further down the road though.

Sadly though it just fuels their hatred. I've been an Arma fan since OFP and DayZ reinvigorated my interest in it along with becoming a fan of DayZ itself. Imo the Arma fanbase liked that Arma was a glitchy/buggy hard to access game, it made them feel superior to the average gamer because you had to be fairly computer literate and have the patience of a saint just to get the most out of it. Well they can't have their cake and eat it, they need to accept that BIS NEED a certain level of success/popularity to keep the franchise going and DayZ has given them just that. I'm looking forward to the day that Arma starts taking from DayZ. I honestly think that if they ever consider making Arma 4 in the future that they'll be looking to Dean and much of the work being done on the DayZ engine and using their work. There's going to be some very awkward meetings at BIS and the Arma fans will throw a fit even if it's in the interest of making Arma a better game, I can't wait =)
-
I'm pretty sure the increased funding BIS received from the surprise sales of A2 also helped them towards releasing A3 too. Before DayZ came along A2 was on it's last legs and only being played by the hardcore fans.

I'm fairly certain that encumberance linked to an inventory weight system is confirmed for the SA although it will will be added at a later date.

Complain about stuff I guess, it'll be like the good old days.

Yes but I see that as a good thing tbh. Instead of having to torture yourselves watching the "chosen ones" play while you wait, everyone will get access at the same time.
-
Oh don't worry we'll leave tons for you guys to pull your hair out over.

Once it's released, that's it. As far as I know the current small testing group is the only part of the process that will be carried out behind closed doors.

Nope, that was just trapped wind, the silence continues.....

Will the SA be better optimized than Arma 2?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to King of kong's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd be extremely surprised if there isn't a good improvement. As I keep saying in these kinds of topics though, remember that true optimisation takes place further on in development. I still think/hope people will be pleasantly surprised though, we will see... -
Stay on topic please. Only kidding, keep harassing them for a release date.

But you're fully torqued dammit! Anyhoo, soz OP, back on topic.

Welcome back. You are a true ambassador for the USA, scary as that is.
