No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's not my experience but it does make me much more defensive. Bring on the radio's, it's the only answer. -
Couple of suggestions to make it less of a deathamtch
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to maracusarillius_irl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Go and read Rockets thoughts on the matter. He prefers to call them infected because of all of the suggetions he was getting to make it more of a Zombie game. He wants it to primarily be a survival game with the Infected as a backdrop to that narrative. I'm not sure about the arms and legs thing BTW. -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm pretty sure that people already use private servers. Any progress they make on that server is not saved. I'm not against that but I do think it defeats the object of the game. It's supposed to be dangerous, it's supposed to be tense and stressfull. If you want to lock down your own server so that you can skip through the fields high-fiving your family and friends then you should try another MOD. I'm not saying this to be an argumentative twat BTW. There's hundreds of other mods available to you now you have Arma installed. What makes DayZ unique is the persistent server system and the perma death. Changing these attributes by having your own playground breaks the concept entirely. -

No!!!!!! They're supposed to be infected people, not super-human! -
Anti-Aborting Suggestion.
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It needs to be dealt with but not like this. I still support the timer idea for the time being. -
Hacker gave me a Horn *honk honk*
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Soulside_Journey's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I'd use it to scare the shit out of noobs. Just sneak up behind them and away you go! I think the proper procedure for dealing with hacked stuff is to place it on a dead Zed and then hide the body. I had to do that with a nice shiny golden AKS I was given ;( -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well I've seen servers that allow 30 people and some that allow 100, so I think that that's already catered for. Password protecting servers is open to massive abuse. A group will lock a server, loot everything they want and then potentially use that to their advantage on another server. I think the options to slightly change the gameplay are already there. I'm not against severs being able to enable global chat BTW, it's just not mu cup of tea. *edit - read post above, put's it much better than me. -
Cool, I've yet to find one. When I do I'm gonna place it in a well known sniper spot. Anyone else who wants to combat snipers should do the same.

Realism vs. Dehydration and hunger
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to 7heButch3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I guess they're just trying to strike a balance between realism and making it a good game to play. Hunger and thirst degrade more quickly if you do more running around. Aslo, if you start with 12000 blood, actually dying from hunger takes a very long time. -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want to know what happens when you give people too much flexibility with severs go and read some articles on BF3. The server admins have basically destroyed the game by tweaking different attributes for their severs. The problem is that everyone thinks they know what is best and how to improve the experience. 99 times out of a hundred they don't. It breaks the game. -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wasn't referring to those indicators. I meant the really small little white dot's that appear right on the edge of you screen to show the vicinity of Zeds, peeps and even wildlife. If you haven't noticed them before, go take a look. -
Worst heli crash site loot ever?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Abreax's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like you were beaten to it. I had a similar experience apart from the only crash site I've ever found except that I saw a Bizon, NVG's and some other bits. The only problem was, I couldn't pick them up. Tried everything until I rage-quit. -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In the original development of Arma, they were trying to come up with ways that would simulate your peripheral vision and help you have a better awareness of the environment. Although First-person view looks more "realistic" you also lose that awareness of your surroundings that you would have in "real" life. It can be like looking through a tube. That' also why there's the little white indicators on the edge of your screen. I prefer playing in 1st person most of the time but 3rd person can be useful. -
This map will help you: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/Gmap/beta/gmap.html Basically, go where you want, discover it at your own pace, that's half the fun.

No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't feel encouraged to KOS. It makes me play more defensively, sure, but it doesn't make me run around gunning everyone down. Also, are we just talking about players who only play around Cherno and Electro because that'll probably never change. -

If your talking to me, I haven't said realism once. Read my posts. I mentioned immersion and I also said that radios would be more in keeping with the style of the game. -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to maracusarillius_irl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm undecided about making Zeds harder to kill. Until you get fairly good at the game the Zeds are a bloody nightmare in my opinion. Of course once you've figured it all out they become much less of an issue. The only problem I can see with making Zeds harder to kill is the danger of turning the game into a complete crawlathon. I wouldn't want to waste my rare ammo gunning down Zeds so I'd end up crawling everywhere more so than I do at the moment. I'd like to see a bit more random spawning from Zed's, maybe in the woods to give snipers something else to worry about. -
No starting weapon or global chat encourage player killing too much?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Of course they could, but others will still use it to gain an advantage. Look, basically the answer is Radios. They're on the way, although maybe not until a standalone game is released (fingers crossed). This will keep all of us happy. You can have your Global chat (until your batteries run out) and it's much more in keeping with the style of the game unlike a magical global chat/telekenises system like every other MMO out there. -

I definatley think military grade stuff should be MUCH rarer. The problem with this is that server admins would then abuse there positions even more than they do at the moment. They would hoard the good stuff and be able to run around the map like little Hitlers killing anyone who dares confront them. -
Hackers making game unplayable
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to OtterDerp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That sounds like one hacker having a field day. Would you have been happy if you had been banned from the server as in the case of the OP. -

Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the point of having radios will be that you will be able to infiltrate certain frequencies and find out enemy positions/ bandit activity and so on. Having your own number is more like a mobile phione than a radio. You seem determined to make it a happy fluffy world... -

They gave everyone on the server a Golden AKS with a full clip. -

Nice one! I did something similar with a noob and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. -
How to make a server day time all the time
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to todge2k (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I really hope not. Next thing you'll be wanting to change weapon loadouts on startup and everything else that happens when people are allowed too much control of their server. -
