I'm not sure if you delete just one "bohemia interactive" or both :/ What you have done above looks correct though so give it a go :)

I agree. Maybe the vids aren't doing them justice or people just expected a lot more but when controlling the actual character it feels a lot nicer already, especially compared to Arma 2 or the mod.

Ok mate, don't rush it. You'll be playing DayZ before it get's dark. Depending on what country you're in.

I'll let PK Ritchie finish you off (ooh err missus) because it sounds like he had the exact same issue.

Ok, before you install Commander and DayZ, first run Arma 2 once until you get to the main menu and then do the same with OA. After you've run them both once they will join together to form "Combined Operations". Once that's done you can use Commander to install DayZ. You need to do that first in order to have the correct file structure for DayZ to use. If you run DayZ without combining them it won't work.

YT comments are the asshole of the internet. It's the stomping ground of confused kids with hormones they can't handle and nothing better to do. I literally never read them. If I wanted to hear that shit I'd just visit my local Tourettes counseling group.

    Money

I think maybe (hopefully) a natural currency could develop. It could be meds, bottletops, tin cans anything. If people started using that (maybe a trading clan would get things started) then others would slowly pick up on the idea and there's a chance it could become commonly accepted. All I do know is that it should be up to us as a player to sort out, not a game mechanic.

Hmmm, BAF is extra DLC for OA. Amber will know what to do. Hold tight.

    That's optimistic.

If you have BE installed already that's fine. When you first join a server it will (should) update to the latest version then. If you want to be sure though there's no harm in clicking yes and installing it again to make sure.

    Yup, keep going.

    Money

No. Money only works if we have banks to honour the fact that the piece of paper in your hand is worth something. No banks = useless money.

Hi. Have you tried using DayZ Commander yet? It's a free bit of software that will install and keep DayZ updated for you. You can use it to search for servers and join games too. Download it from here: http://www.dayzcommander.com/ and use it to install and update DayZ. Let us know what happens and we'll try to get you up and running.

I make a living as an artist (just about) so I do understand you. The thing is the mod has about 5 skins and that's it so it's very easy to use those skins to achieve an overall feel. if you consider that the SA is a survival game and looting/scavenging is an important part of that then having lots of variation is key for me. If they were to take the approach of having an overall pallette that the modelers had to use it would actually take away from the game IMO. I don't think DayZ will ever be a heavily styled game, it's just a sandbox with representations of real world items that we can choose to either ignore or use.

I guess the actual styling of the clothes is purely subjective. I think we'll just have to disagree about the actual textures, to me in game they look amazing and fit with the enviroment well. It's worth remembering though that what you've seen is a tiny example of what will be available. For example the green jeans are aslo available in dark blue, black and so on. For me it's all about variation. The more choice we have the better. The gear isn't supposed to look "cool" as we see in many games, it's just there to be used or not. Looting is a big part of DayZ so you'll be able to find clothes that suit the look you want or that suits your character.

so, dayz is infact mainly pve, not pvp as i thought.

This post is actually quite refreshing, usually it's the opposite: "DayZ is just a pvp game QQ" and so on. OP - It really is what you make of it, that's why it's become so popular, it's also popular because at first it's a very hard game to get the hang of and many people like that as opposed to the usual hand-holding we get in other games. It could be that it's just not the game for you. If PVP is your sole focus you may be dissapointed as at it's heart it's a survival game. Having said that, if you stick with it and learnthe basics, when you do have your first firefight you'll start to see why people like it so much, for many the combat in DayZ is more tense/exciting than any other game out there because if you die, it's game over.

All zombie sounds will be re-recorded later on in development as confirmed by Rocket. For now they're placeholders.

Yeh, I agree with a lot of that. Regarding the HDR lighting, bloom, saturation and PPE all of that is very much tweakable on your own system, for example I don't like the camera blur when you move your head so I have it turned off. I also have "bloom" at a much lower level than seen in the vid. I'd imagine it'll only be addressed in detail later on in development during the proper optimisation of the game. Regarding the colour pallete of the clothes, I agree, the new models/textures really do look good. I actually like the mish-mash of styles and colours, it represents the fact that you're just salvaging anything you can. If you think that eventually we will have hundreds of clothing items to choose from it'll always be a bit of a mix. In design terms I'd hate to see them try and add an overall "pallette" to try and force a certain feel. The gun handling is pretty basic atm. The M4 will be the gun they use as a benchmark. Once they are happy with it the other guns can be introduced. ATM it does feel/look a bit weird at times but that will be improved.
