Head to Berizino, hit some deerstands on the way and Rog Pur if you fancy it. When in Berizino hit the military camp and then head west for Heli sites. or you could do the Obvious Starry/Airfield thing.

Yeah sorry for being blunt. It should be today but sometimes they run late. Fingers crossed. I nearly spazzed out earlier while trying to raid the NW airfield.

the main reason it was removed was to stop the massive lag caused by people constantly respawning to get to a good spot.

Since the last update, the game has started logging players behaviour. Once they establish a pattern that rules out legit play they will implement an algorythm that will start dishing out warnings and bans for DC'ing to avoid death and server hopping. That's the plan anyway, fingers crossed. In the mean time there are some good servers where the admins keep on top of that kind of thing and issue bans. It's far too rare though at the moment. -

Are you always on the same server? I honestly have no problems finding vehicles. It's rare to see them in the spawn locations. I go looking for camps. Usually on a server you'll find there's a main group hoarding them. If you dedicate a couple hours to searching you'll find them. If you find several together then destroy the ones you don't take, that'll really piss them off. If you still have trouble finding them, PM me and I'll give you the COORDS of some of my favourite spots. I bet you a tin of beans I can get you a vehicle within the hour. -

Theres people doing exactly that on various servers, just search the threads. Fort friendly managed to keep a camp defended on the edge of Cherno for a few days and are currently working on a more secure location. I've seen other similar projects too. Also, theres nothing stopping you from doing it yourself. Start a thread, tell everyone the location and off you go. -

There's loads of side projects you can get involved with if you get bored waiting for the finished game. I'm setting up a medical supply route for the Wasteland Meds at the moment. There's "Fort Friendly" the "Freeloaders" or if slaughtering people is more your cup of tea then there mercenary groups you can join. Until we have more tools (bases/electricity ect.) it's just a case of making the most of what is here already. -

This testing phase is being used to try different mechanics and ideas. Things will come, things will go. Just because respawning has been removed doesn't mean it'll stay that way. They want to see what effect it has on player behaviour. Sandbags and wire fences were put in purely to see how people acted with them and what patterns emerged. Also, you do know that vehicles can't be stored off the map any more right? If I want one I just go and find one of their camps. It's easier than fixing it up yourself and is usually full of top end gear. -

I reckon once all of the tools are in place (possibly in the standalone) this kind of thing will naturally evolve. To try and force it doesn't seem in keeping with the type of game I want DayZ to be.
