I can't aim down sights anymore?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to choppaholic26's topic in New Player Discussion
Weird, are you sure you didn't mess with you key bindings? Might be worth double checking. -
Can I stop my server at night when none of my moderators are playing?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to commandercaleb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Your getting mixed opinions because theres no simple solution, it's your call. I don't think that by closing your server over night will help the issue though, you might end up with the opposite problem. My home server is always populated day and night with the same players most of the time. It quickly becomes obvious to the admins when someone new and dodgy starts running scripts or cheating. you'll never manage to build a decent player base if you keep turning off your server so you may end up with the only people wanting to use it being hackers or exploiters. -
Can I stop my server at night when none of my moderators are playing?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to commandercaleb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I personally wouldn't want to play on a server that "closed" for the night. If I set up a camp on your server it means I can only access it while your online. I think the only answer is patience. Battleye have made some progress recently. Many people got kicked banned while I was playing last night (ON A NIGHT SERVER). Also, they've started dishing out warnings and bans to people carrying dodgy weapons. it's always going to be a problem with this mod because the Arma engine is heavily client sided and not really designed with a game like DayZ in mind. The the standalone will be a different story though. Nice. -
Can I stop my server at night when none of my moderators are playing?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to commandercaleb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
He said he wanted to turn it off, not lock it. Locked servers are open to admin abuse. I see your point about turning off the server but it's a legitimate concern given the hacking issues at the moment. -
It wouldn't be an issue if the duping didn't make them so common. If they were extremely rare as they are suppose to be then I can't see an issue with them being in game.

Can i get banned for making a custom skin?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to JaackZee's topic in New Player Discussion
I know my way is legit because I checked first. I've seen that some people use third party software to create custom skins but I'm not sure I'd want to risk it unless it was officially given the all clear. -
Agreed, this thread adds nothing to the forums. Every one is very aware of the issues and as mentioned above Battleye have just stepped up a gear and released the ban hammer. On my server last night I saw a constant stream of people being kicked and banned and also 5 minute warnings being given to people with hacked guns. It's going to always be an issue with the mod because of it's nature, the standalone will be a different story though.

Can i get banned for making a custom skin?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to JaackZee's topic in New Player Discussion
I use a camo face and Delta goggles which looks pretty cool. All the files are already located within Arma OA so know that this is legit. I would like to know other ways to create or use a custom skin that is viewable by all and is legit though. -
Whats the best place just to kill random zombies without attracting bandits?

Small villages away from the south coast. It's good for practising with different weapons. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The military artifacts are sorted here (no more glithching around the military corpses). No graphical issues at all now! Thanks for all the effort going into this. There's thousands of people that appreciate it. Now to watch the flood of posts asking random questions not even slightly related to this thread. -
You know you're playing too much DayZ when...

Lol, it's good thread, the replies have been making me laugh. I shout at my boss all of the time, I've yet to resort to shooting him in the face though. -

The Solution to Hacking
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How did I know when I clicked on this I wouldn't actually see a solution to hacking? Your thread title is wrong Sir. Also, if you've been playing recently you'll have noticed that Battleye have been making some progress recently. Last night I was playing and a message came up "several players are using the AS50 with thermal sight, you have 5 minutes to put them down or you will be banned". Also, over 11,000 people have been banned so far. Yes hacking is a problem, you just need to be patient in waiting for the solution. It's because DayZ has grown so quickly that this has become such an issue. Battleye, BI and so on just need time to catch up, which they will. With regards to DayZ becoming the "hacked game" and WarZ becoming the game of choice I highly doubt it. WarZ as it stands have promised everything and delivered nothing. DayZ have promised nothing, asked for nothing and delivered one of the most unique gaming experiences I've yet had. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing what happens when the inevitable comparisons between Dayz (standalone) and WarZ (if it ever makes it past fairyland concept stage) happens. I have no doubt in my mind which game will win hands down. -
Please god no!!!!!!!!!! One of the reasons DayZ has that "real" feel to it is because because the map is based on a real location using topographical data. If you start randomising areas or towns you'll lose that instantly. I would like the loot areas to be more random though.

Technically I think there is a portable generator in the DayZ files. Someone found one a while back. There's been many threads about this already and I'm sure it's something they'll work on for the standalone game.

So to discourage PvP the only way people can improve their aim is to kill other players? I don't follow your logic. Also, someone that has been practicing more in game will have better aim than a noob so I don't see the need for a mechanic to try and force a style of play. Noobs will frequently sprint everywhere, which means their aim is already handicapped because of heavy breathing. Various other mechanics that already exist make it harder for new people than it is for experienced ones.

Brilliant. What the F*ck do I do now?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to jaggardos's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
has anyone ever tried DC'ing in mid air on a jump like this? I was just wondering if it was possible to jump, DC and then log in again to see where you'd been placed. -

Yeh! Do it in low res! -
I don't find those figures surprising or discouraging. Firslty 170.000 players a day or more for a buggy alpha mod is actually pretty impressive. Also I would have expected those figures to have risen sharply and then dropped of. The initial media hype surrounding DayZ pieced together with some glossy (ish) fan made vids would have tempted many different types of gamers to commit to buying Arma. The fact is that back then (and still now, although things are improving) DayZ is a buggy mod running on a buggy engine. People who didn't do their homework bought Arma expecting the best gaming experience of their lives (for many it is). At this stage DayZ requires a lot of patience to play, partly because it's supposed to and partly because of bugs and hackers. If you read those figures and interpret them as the death of DayZ then I suggest you go and read a few more articles or recent interviews with Rocket. This mod will be kept running as a side project now while they commit to producing the standalone game on a new engine with modern anti-hacking support. Edit* - Also I don't follow your logic looking at the numbers like that. As people have already said, not everybody plays every day. Your using a mid week figure so if over Saturday night the figure rises to 300k people playing does that mean DayZ is reborn again and is back on the rise? No. It means more people are able to play at once because it's a weekend.

Can you post a vid of your leap of faith? I want to see what happens! -
I started running north 2 month ago and I'm still going. I'm mainly living of grass and the tears of hackers as Battleye finally leaps into action.
