Using DayZ For a Machinima -- Legal and Editor Issues
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to krytosss's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's great news. I'm working on a (slightly stupid) DayZ tutorial animation and it uses some of the pbo. sound files. I was wondering about this earlier today. -
Also check this thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38476-the-one-line-questions-for-rocket-thread/ It's not the one you're referring to but it's the latest info on the standalone.
-
That's in Arma, it's not enabled in DayZ (apart from vehicles and your profile).
-
Luckily all of the zed and spawn behaviour is being re-written for the standalone. If it wasn't for the fact that some people would act like dicks and break the immersion for everyone else I'd love your idea. Edit - Terror makes a good point also^^^.

83% of that graph is inaccurate at best. -
Private Hive DayZmod Integration Project
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Took the words right out of my mouth. -
It's been said that if you can run DayZ or Arma 2 you'll have no issues with the standalone.

Don't worry Rocket, it's a proven fact that 78% of statistics are inaccurate. -
"Some men just want to watch the world burn"
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to Wellseh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No offence Wellseh but we really don't need a new thread for every single hacker encounter. There are plenty of open threads already discussing this issue. More so than any other topic in fact. *Thread locked. -
Unfortunately this has pretty much been ruled out so far. Not because it's a bad idea but because having players controlling zombies will ruin the immersion for others. Expect to see much more info on the virus/infection and a far improved system for players so catch other illnesses and so on though.

Unconfirmed.

To be honest, you've been lucky to get the advice you have so far.

Like you said, we'll wait and see. Let's hug it out.

Why is everybody so satisfied with ARMA2 Engine?

Now that's how to make a first post. Have some beans and welcome to the forum. -

I need to pick your brains

Both are very loud, the M14 has a great scope but the FAL has burst fire. It's a tough call. I like them both. -

Is DayZ survival vs cheaters?

You just posted this 3 times in a row. Also, it serves no purpose. Check the recent posts made by Rocket for the answers you seek. -

Hackers can already script in dogs so I'm guessing not much will change there. -
Like you say Sula, it is a game and should be fun too. We're frequently chatting away and having a laugh but it's equally important to know when to shut up. Angels suggestion is great. I always wear the stupid oversized Delta Goggles. They look silly but there's no mistaking me. One of my mates always wears Aviators and another always plays as the old man with the grey beard. We can tell who is who just by looking.

I remember when I first played DayZ as part of a group I initially found it frustrating. I couldn't concentrate because of everyone talking bollocks over TS and I'd been playing on my own for quite a while. Now I've settled into it I prefer playing as part of a small group. 3 seems perfect for me or a maximum of 4 people works. Any more than that and you need to start getting strict about communication or just play with people that don't have verbal diarrhea. It takes a while to find a group of like minded people for you to enjoy it properly. I still enjoy playing on my own but now when I'm part of a group we usually have a quick chat about what it is we're doing and off we go! We've never had a clear leader but we have settled into specific roles that we're comfortable with naturally. Once you've played together for a while you start to move quickly and quietly and can lock down an area without even needing to decide how. Each member just knows instinctively what to do. It takes awhile to get to that point though so stick with it. It's also worth noting what your team members play style or favourite weapons are. I love the Mk48 and frags so I usually fill a support/suppression role. One of my mates is bloody great with a sniper rifle so that's another role sorted.

I generally like the game but I had my worst PC game experience ever today
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to TrangleC's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That was a great game and also insanely brutal if you didn't know what you where doing. If you coped with that then you'll have no issues once you get to grips with DayZ. -

I'm not sure you can argue that time has been wasted on trying to implement Dog's. It's been stated that as well as wanting to see how players interact with them they are also just testing the mechanics of NPC's. This information will be carried over into the standalone. Surely being able to monitor and gather information about player behaviour with certain game mechanics is an invaluable asset when developing a game. Also Rocket has stated that he's been doing it in his spare time. Suggesting that the Rocket is neither giving himself fully to one project or the other is a moot point in my opinion because the progress of the standalone development is relying heavily on the information gathered form the mod. It's the perfect testing ground.
