The general view as far as I can tell is that people want these things removed completely. Many servers have already removed NVG's and thermals. IMO, DayZ is at it's best when people are running around with torches and flares crapping themselves.

Yup, Commander will pretty much keep you up to date with whatever you need. I haven't played there in a couple of weeks but last time I was there they were running nice full servers. Server no.2 is best if you're just starting out and is the most popular. You'll need to join the forums to get the server password (keeps the hackers out) and then you're good to go. They're a nice bunch and noobs are welcome. They'll always help you out if they can. Give it a go and let me know if you have any issues.

Basically, many people use private hives/servers now day's. They're separate from the public ones and if you find a good one that's run well you won't have any issues with hackers or idiots in general. If you tell me what country you're in I'll recommend you a good one to get you started.

What country are you in? Don't just start jumping into random public servers it'll end in tears/frustration.

You could pretty much make a vid like that for any game when it f**ks up. Also Smiley has a point, in that case it's actually the community made map that's buggy. I was hoping to see a hilarious compelation of stupid moments. Oh well. Maybe some tunes would jazz it up a bit.

Hi mate, to play DayZ you need Combined Operations which is basically Arma 2 and Arma Operation Arrowhead joined together. You can buy it individually as Arma CO but as you already have Arma 2 you'll just need to get Operation Arrowhead. Just to clarify, Operation Arrowhead is a game in it's own right, not an expansion pack.

Like I say it's up to you. If you want to see some of the new maps watch some Youtube vids. Search the map names Namalsk, Panthera, Celle and there's a few more too. Namalsk has been pretty popular recently. It's a nice map and temperature plays a more important role. To travel in the higher areas you need to find warm clothes to survive. Weapons are MUCH easier to find so people with less patience seem to prefer it but it can be harder to find food.

Take a look through the private hive area of the forum, I'm sure you'll find something you like. When you're looking through the servers, try to find one that looks like it has a well established community. Don't forget, anyone can set up a server but not everyone can run them well.

There's still hackers but wise players play on private hives with good admins, if you do this hackers aren't an issue at all. There's loads of maps now to choose from, most of the smaller ones have higher spawn rates for gear. Is it worth coming back? That's up to you.

On public servers people will often server hop in areas that spawn military items. There's no reason to think he was hacking, just server hopping (another reason to use private hives).

I would just learn the lesson TBH. Ignore hackers and don't take their gear. Most admins will ban if they see you carrying hacked gear.

@SupremeC - This is the ban appeal area of the forums. Master721 is well within his rights to make a post here and everyone else is within theirs to comment on it. You'de be better off replying to appeals sensibly in the future. Telling people to "get their shit together" and telling them they should be ashamed of themselves for having an opinion does nothing but undermine your own position. I suggest you take a look at some of the other ban appeal threads so that you can learn from the more experienced admins how best to handle these situations in the future. Whatever the situation behind this report, reacting in the manner you have does indeed make you sound like a douche.

There's nothing there to suggest he's a skiddie. Finding people that are tooled up (especially on Namalsk) is no reason to suspect a thing.

Yup, that sucks. This is the downside of admins having too much authority. It's a small price to pay but it does mean occasionally you'll find a douche admin. I guess he takes the name Ceasar a tad too seriously.

There's many maps available now. Some are smaller and suit players like you that prefer lot's of encounters, high spawn rates ect, others are larger and suit people that prefer longer term goals, exploration and so on. Choice is always a good thing.

Take a look through the private hive area of the forums. You should find something in there you like.
