The code for DayZ SA will be locked down so it won't be moddable. Also Heretic is correct. Chernarus took 2 years to create.

Agreed. I'd love to see connected maps in the future. It'd be a long way off though and would require an insane amount of work with many dedicated map making teams but it would turn DayZ into a truly epic game. Imagine scavenging for parts on Chernarus to make/repair a boat or plane/heli to cross the sea to another landmass. The potential would be mind boggling. Interconnected instanced maps would be the one thing I would wish for in DayZ if I could only have one wish. (and swan farming) -
How do I control these hackers without spending 3 hours a day with it?

Whitelisting players works very well, you can add them to your own database and then anyone that isn't whitelisted can't play on your server. It does mean however that you have to spend time whitelisting but after that the server pretty much runs itself. There is no easy answer, the mod is vulnerable to hacking and always will be. Admining a server takes time and effort to do well and unfortunately there's no shortcuts. -

Isn't it just a question of practicalities in some cases? If I admin a server, I need to monitor that server and talk to the people playing on that server. For that to happen I need the players to be able to speak English. How do I talk to people and whitelist them if we can't understand eachother? I agree racism should never be tolerated, but I don't see this as racism, just a practical necessity for admins to be able to monitor their servers and keep them safe. Thoughts?

Urhgh. Well this is going nowhere fast. OP feel free to unlock it if you actually want to add to the debate, as it is you've just opened a contentious topic and then walked away. A fellow mod should know better than to do that. In future if you're going to open debates like this then then at least stick around to moderate it yourself, cheers. Locked.

What do you mean by "I bought keys for my friends". Where did you buy them? How much did they cost? Edit - Well considering you logged off as soon as I asked you my question I'll assume you got the keys from a less than reputable source. That's your problem. If you had legit copies of the game then it wouldn't be an issue. Locked. -

Please make crosshairs on snipers smaller

Play on servers with crosshairs disabled. It stops people from running around like noobs shooting rifles from the hip. -

Agreed. You have to remember what brings people to DayZ to begin with. If logged into your server and had NVG's in my gear I'd log out instantly. The point of DayZ is starting with nothing and the adventure you have whilst scavenging. I personally really hate servers like this, it breaks the very concept of the game. Kudos for at least asking though, there is still hope. -
I guess as long as we have private servers with admins allowed to enforce their own rules it will remain an issue. I'd imagine the SA will address this by reverting back to secure public servers with codes of conduct that the admins have to obey.

As a UK player it's hard to comment on this because it's not something I've ever seen. I've played on Dutch, Australian, US, and UK servers and never once seen this issue. I agree racism should never be tolerated. Is this a problem unique to Russian servers?

You misread my comment. Anyhoo, one of the things I'm really looking forward to is the addition of all of the extra indoor spaces. It's going to make the urban areas very different and require a very different approach tactically. -

Why is banning people that download hacks daft? We don't want hackers playing, it's as simple as that. The playerbase is better off without people like you. The terms alpha or beta don't really fit where the development process is ATM but people like to use terms they're comfortable with. DayZ is following a pretty unique path so it's hard to pigeon hole it into a certain phase of development.
