Yup, controversial but I like it. An underground world of drug trafficking would be a great addition. I think the new desease mechanic (when introduced) will add many new drugs but the more the merrier. Combat trousers filled with 9-bars FTW!

Yup, life can be a bitch. I had similar issues once (15 years ago though). I literally ran out of money. I don't really have a family to fall back on so I had to sofa-surf, sleep on floors, beg borrow sleep in garages, doorways, god that was one shitty period. Luckily it only lasted for 6 months or so but it wasn't fun. One thing I learned from that though is not to give up because you never know what's around the corner and something usually turns up if you can hold out for long enough. Anyhoo, glad life's treating you better and welcome back. Go kill some zeds. -

I officially played on my last public server 6 months ago and most serious players have been on private hives for many months now for a multitude of reasons. -

Are you running the correct version? There was a patch and also a hotfix recently so double check.

I think books, notes, diaries ect will be part of the SA so this is pretty likely. i don't think they're going to be easter eggs just thing that help immerse us in the world (like Skyrim). Some may even give clues as to the outbreak and so on.

As long as in the menu (commander) it says "up to date" for both DayZ and Beta you should be good to go. You don;t need to update anything else outside of Commander, it does it all for you. Once done, as mentioned above, check your filter so that you only see servers running the same version as you. There was a patch recently so there will be some servers running different versions for a little while until everyone updates their servers (usually takes a week to settle down). Also, some admins like to stick with older updates.

In the menu you'll just see one option for beta updates (it's for Arma). That needs to be up to date too.
