shit i wish that's how cores worked, arma 2 is all about pbo files, get a normal SSD or a fast HDD with a processor that has speeds of AT LEAST 3.0ghz, a graphic card (radeon) 7series (nvidia) ge-force 4 series and up, but thats kinda crappy, i'd splurge and get the 660 or 670, but thats me. and a healthy 6-8Gigs of free ram to back it all up. u get that, and you fps will be on crack

No it's not. It's just ran differently than most games. Arma 2 is a combat simulator for army training purposes. its meant for beefy machines, not a computer you get on sale from wall-mart/target. If you want a PC Cole416 Let me know, give me your budget and i can custom build a PC to that price, note 678.00 is probably the lowest i can do, unless there is a weekend sale, or some type of holiday deal. then maybe a bit lower but 650$ is minimum of what your looking at for a good PC. arma 2 is huge, arma 2 entire game setup runs off of files called PBO files, your Hard drive has to index those files, if you have a 7200rpm Hard drive, that is not fast enough at all. Now everything you see and touch in arma/dayz is ran through those PBO files, if your harddrive can't process the data fast enough your gonna experience FALSE fps issues,the reason i say false is because most games do not, and when i say most games i really fing mean most games almost about 90% of whats made today is nothing like this. Hard Drives usually dont have very much impact on any shooter game i've ever played, but arma 2 is quite different, seeing how arma 2 runs off indexing those pbo files inorder to play the game, your HDD has to be fast enough for it. i suggest you get a 120gb SSD the lowest quaility SSD is 2 times faster than a 7200rpm HDD, so the best/worst, it's gonna make a huge difference either way.

Picture if a cd-key was like an authentication for server side encryption, where the only thing that could even see your cd-key, would be the server, but it would be encrypted, thus slowing down that cd-key theft. Steam:ID/ArmaGUID all encrypted in a language the server could read. i dont, know im just tossin an idea out there. kinda like that battle net authentication for World of Warcraft. like i said i dont know just tossing ideas around

open steam, right click arma 2 BAF select properties, select local file tab, select verify game system cache. then once it's done, launch arma 2 BAF to main menu, then try it again:)

Troubleshooting Arma2/Dayz for Steam user's Steam has a lot of different functions. One of the best is the File System Checklist. This checklist allows users to recover basic data that may have became corrupted/deleted. Arma 2 and Steam has a unique way of being high maintenance, every so often, Steam will need you to play the games from it's library for the "First Time Setup" phase, even though, you may have done this before, you gotta do it again, it gets important updates for registry keys, Battle eye and important updates from steams servers. To fix problem's such as: Missing or invalid cd-key, Missing or deleted content and many more different issues. Open Steam with administrator rights. Right click Arma 2, Select properties, Go to Local File tab, Select Verify Game Cache. (Do this to all Arma 2 related games in your library) The order in which the games should be install/updated, should be by the date the game was released: Arma2/Arma2OA/Arma2PrivateMilitaryCompany/AArma2BritishArmedForces. Once you have done those steps to all the arma games/dlcs, you got to close Steam out completely. Reopen steam, select arma 2 and click play, wait till you get to the main menu, then log out. (Do this to all Arma 2 related games in your library). Once this is completed, your arma files will not only be updated but scanned and all are accounted for.

NO, but COD says yes, dayz says NO!!! do not follow your target, lead your target, take small burst shots, full auto is never a good idea, waste of ammo and a dinner bell like no other to bandits and zombies alike. To trail your target you must gauge your distance to your target, at long distance without the use of Range finders, you could fire a spoiler shot and adjust according to the bullet impact point with some degree of accuracy. at short range Firing from the Hip! learn it, use it well shouldering your weapon takes to much time, aside for aiming to your target, take a few survior runs with different guns and do practice shots on running zombies, shoot signs while running to prone, crouch shoot small signs, once your done practice on other players, stalk them, and become the soul less merchant of death dayz intended you to be. have fun!

Im trying to comprehend what you just said, Vanilla dayZ with steam? um, what? i remember when steam wasn't even apart of dayz. how on earth could you call steam and dayz a vanilla setup? you want a vanilla setup?, try copying the arma 2 oa launch icon and turning that into the dayz launcher, that's vanilla. Steam has to many issues with dayz, most people prefur to use something that is fast, light weight and not having to log into steam just to play, all i do is click an icon on my desktop and im in the servers, then run the game through steam once a month to get updates, where do u manually do anything? u select charts and options and it does it all by itself. u can download all the maps in 45 mins and never have to change a single setting. i believe that is much easier than steam.
