Nope, nope and NOPE! i'll tell you what your issue is, you got good amount of ram, your graphic card is within limits(by a wide margin), but your 2.8Ghz processor and the fact its AMD isn't fast enough. For AMD you need like 3.3 or 3.5ghz, plus a 120gb ssd would make all the better

i know, but if you gonna do it, do it. Don't spend money if in 1 year later you gotta upgrade. i think atleast 3 years in advance when it comes to computer parts. gotta stay on the curve not behind it or adhead of it,stay behind you become out dated,stay adhead you get ripped off because 2 months from then, it's gonna be "out-dated" by the latest and greatest. if you are on the curve you wont waste money, you'll be fairly updated, and the performance is almost flawless. thats the reason i picked the 8350. i give people a image of what they actually want, but what their wallets aren't afraid of. shit i wish that's how cores worked, arma 2 is all about pbo files, get a normal SSD or a fast HDD with a processor that has speeds of AT LEAST 3.0ghz, a graphic card (radeon) 7series (nvidia) ge-force 4 series and up, but thats kinda crappy, i'd splurge and get the 660 or 670, but thats me. and a healthy 6-8Gigs of free ram to back it all up. u get that, and you fps will be on crack

No it's not. It's just ran differently than most games. Arma 2 is a combat simulator for army training purposes. its meant for beefy machines, not a computer you get on sale from wall-mart/target. If you want a PC Cole416 Let me know, give me your budget and i can custom build a PC to that price, note 678.00 is probably the lowest i can do, unless there is a weekend sale, or some type of holiday deal. then maybe a bit lower but 650$ is minimum of what your looking at for a good PC. arma 2 is huge, arma 2 entire game setup runs off of files called PBO files, your Hard drive has to index those files, if you have a 7200rpm Hard drive, that is not fast enough at all. Now everything you see and touch in arma/dayz is ran through those PBO files, if your harddrive can't process the data fast enough your gonna experience FALSE fps issues,the reason i say false is because most games do not, and when i say most games i really fing mean most games almost about 90% of whats made today is nothing like this. Hard Drives usually dont have very much impact on any shooter game i've ever played, but arma 2 is quite different, seeing how arma 2 runs off indexing those pbo files inorder to play the game, your HDD has to be fast enough for it. i suggest you get a 120gb SSD the lowest quaility SSD is 2 times faster than a 7200rpm HDD, so the best/worst, it's gonna make a huge difference either way.

I got an idea, i'll post a spec everyone can get down with, even dayz. ok ladies and gents listen up to the ultimate computer you can buy but without busting a new hole in your wallet:). Picture if a cd-key was like an authentication for server side encryption, where the only thing that could even see your cd-key, would be the server, but it would be encrypted, thus slowing down that cd-key theft. Steam:ID/ArmaGUID all encrypted in a language the server could read. i dont, know im just tossin an idea out there. kinda like that battle net authentication for World of Warcraft. like i said i dont know just tossing ideas around

open steam, right click arma 2 BAF select properties, select local file tab, select verify game system cache. then once it's done, launch arma 2 BAF to main menu, then try it again:)

Troubleshooting Arma2/Dayz for Steam user's Steam has a lot of different functions. One of the best is the File System Checklist. This checklist allows users to recover basic data that may have became corrupted/deleted. Arma 2 and Steam has a unique way of being high maintenance, every so often, Steam will need you to play the games from it's library for the "First Time Setup" phase, even though, you may have done this before, you gotta do it again, it gets important updates for registry keys, Battle eye and important updates from steams servers. To fix problem's such as: Missing or invalid cd-key, Missing or deleted content and many more different issues. Open Steam with administrator rights. Right click Arma 2, Select properties, Go to Local File tab, Select Verify Game Cache. (Do this to all Arma 2 related games in your library) The order in which the games should be install/updated, should be by the date the game was released: Arma2/Arma2OA/Arma2PrivateMilitaryCompany/AArma2BritishArmedForces. Once you have done those steps to all the arma games/dlcs, you got to close Steam out completely. Reopen steam, select arma 2 and click play, wait till you get to the main menu, then log out. (Do this to all Arma 2 related games in your library). Once this is completed, your arma files will not only be updated but scanned and all are accounted for.

Well let me give you a brief description of what arma 2 is. every gun,item... everything u do and see in dayz/arma is done through files called PBO files. Now, when you play the game, your harddrive has to index all those PBO files in order to play. A 7200rpm HDD is not fast enough, a high performance HDD is, but a standard 7200rpm is not. The best way to fix this issue is install a 60gb or 120gb SSD and use it as a secondary harddrive, then install steam, and all of arma 2 games to it, then give that a shot before u buy and new cpu or gpu, but if your cpu is lower than 3.0ghz then u might want to consider updating soon.
