    I 100% agree. For the longtime forum regulars who follow the forum sidebar for the more active and relevant threads, the massive influx of repeat threads and whining threads make the forum far less tolerable and far less relevant to the cutting edge of development as they bury any good discussions. At this point, the only solution I can imagine involves the XBOX forum being on a completely different page/forum of it's own.

    When DayZ friends meet AFK.

    After approximately 3 years of playing DayZ together, @GaryWalnuts and I met in real life! These are his dogs, begging for ice cream. GaryWalnuts, Gary Jr, and Bella. I complimented him on his advanced base building skills (landscaping and home improvement) and asked if we should loot his house for a couple backpacks and a cooking pot and head out into the woods but he wasn't interested. We did ride an ATV (very) briefly and I watched him handle a shovel so I guess you could say we RP'd a little DayZ. We only got to hang out for a few hours but it was super cool meeting him, his lady, and the dogs. It would be great to meet more of my DayZ pals some day.... good times! :D

    Game was fun for a while

    Spawn sniping is going to be a thing forever. My first 2 weeks of playing the mod were basically trying to learn how to get off the beach. I learned to crawl on belly to tree lines and be very patient in those times. DayZ is a game where patience almost always pays off (in playing and in waiting for development). Practice it.

    BLUE ARMBAND = PEACE

    Nothing like this will ever work. The MOD had hero and bandit skins and people could exploit that to murder in a hero skin. The only hope for a server with less KoS will be whitelisted private servers. PvP is what you all are programmed for by countless other games. Most PvPers burn out much faster and move onto their next shooter. Those of us who enjoy the whole game tend to get more longevity out of the experience. /open sarcasm - What really makes DayZ great are "sniper gods" and ooooo creepy crazy cannibals. /close sarcasm We need PvP, we need murderers and bandits (there is a difference). But we also WANT more than CoD.

    Why won't the XBONE players read about DayZ? When is it ok to drop your money on something and have 0 understanding of how the product is being made and what it will include in the future? Reading these threads makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out with a melon baller. I'm trying so hard to help you all help yourselves, but you seem to exist in a vacuum where the nearly 5 years of development and discussion are almost completely ignored.

    People who cannot be bothered to READ, will not garner ANY sympathy. "As the nature of the Experimental branch is for the above mentioned testing methods, neither uptime, character data, nor stability is guaranteed. Persistence/Character wipes are to be expected!" These XBOX "testers" seem to have no problem paying $40 to try DayZ but did not have the foresight to learn about it before joining. Who's fault is that? If you only knew what this all looked like to a 6 year contributor....

    Good list. Just an fyi, I believe a ton of stuff was left out to try to keep data gathered from these tests as simple as possible. When they're done with the large features implementation, they'll likely start dropping in all of that stuff in short order.

  11. I think they are gathering preliminary data on the mechanic before adding impact to the character based on those values. Temperature and wetness indicators show changes but have yet to impact players as well.

    Experimental Content Update

    It's hard to say right now. I believe early vehicles and persistence (storage/tents) are next...? Hypo/hyperthermia, fractures, diseases/poisoning, wetness having an adverse effect on items, would all be.... soon™. It may be that they are going in the order of size/complexity as to what order of the features they are working on next. So vehicles, and persistence, are bigger things they want to nail down before they start messing with values that surround things that are already in the game, including environmental impacts and physical ailments etc. of course, I could be completely off, and those things you mention will be in next patch. :P We did see some values showing for wetness, temps, and bacteria exposure, so maybe they are getting preliminary data before they dial in some values to test.

    Was there a character wipe recently?

    This game is actually technically in Alpha. And some of us paid 4 years and 9 months ago to play many many borked PC versions to even get to this point. If you cannot be bothered to learn about the game before you purchased it, the blame falls on you. You could have read in many places that this is the state of development and that this is how Alpha is done for DayZ. Whether you think it's "too often" or not, does not enter into it at all. The devs will wipe so that they may get pristine data sets based on a new version, not to irk the player base. Stable is .62 and still on the old renderer. XBOX is running a very similar version to what is the Experimental PC version, and only PC gets the Stress test builds.

It's massively frustrating that most of the new players will happily throw their money at DayZ but cannot be bothered to read a little on how the game is being made and needs to be tested.

    I have a modest 1,500 hours in the standalone. I've been wiped more times than can be remembered. Wipes will happen often and unannounced until 1.0 Stable. If you cannot handle this, you may want to wait for a .63 Stable version to drop.     I've been posting about permanent fog in the distance since right before they released XBONE preview. It's an easy way to save resources that old games used to implement.   21. I dunno Kirov. I like both of you, and well, I've been reading pilgrim for a long time now. I've always known he's a brilliant contributor, though a bit unconventional in his writing style; there's usually a gem buried in there (when he's not debate sparring). Sometimes I tap out of his longer posts, but I often agree with much of what he says. I used to work as a paralegal (of sorts), helping to draft many hundreds of pages of legal documents every day, and after I left that line of work, my attention to exacting punctuation etc flagged quite a bit, probably after being burnt out on keeping it perfect for so long. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More back on topic: Reading the XBOX KoS discussion threads is like stepping into a time warp back to 2012. It's sort of fascinating and at the same time cringe worthy to listen to them dig up, reanimate, and whip this dead horses bones to powder all over again. I'm also amazed that they are so adverse to following the PC forum, and seem to think the 2 versions are created in a vacuum apart from each other. Whitelisted servers combined with modded versions of the game will probably be the best place for RPing apocalypse.
