erm, "This is DayZ. This is your story." I dunno....

beans for nuking the loot and calling the hacker out for being a pussy.
-
I like the idea, you could even tie to a relative that was an actual spawn, but I think it changes something at the core of the DayZ experience that should be left alone. How many story lines can there be? People will soon play the same stories, and they lose their meaning. If the stories then tie to loot or are even "cooler" somehow, will people decide some "characters" are more desirable?

The reboot of the zombie pathing shows the dedication to quality IMO. I would hope the Devs have spoke at length with others who have tackled the same or similar pathing problems, and can learn and expand on their work. -
Meme'd out of boredom.

Closer to topic. There should be like 2 tandem bikes on Chernarus plus, but regular tandem for 2 people, not 3. :)

The "bicycle rifle" was a thing in the late 1800's.

^ I lol'd The detail on those ist Wunderbar.

I like some of your suggestions. I imagine we will see a huge number of guns in the game over time. If they make it possible to empty both barrels at once, a sawed off double barrel shotgun would be super effective in close quarters.

idea for more secret stash places for hide loot
☣BioHaze☣ replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Also, if this were actually to be implemented than I would also like to add the concept of crafting a stash spot. A rock with a false bottom could be fashioned to hold small items, a crowbar could pry a floorboard, ceiling tiles of a "dropped ceiling" could be lifted, and slid aside. Simply burying stuff would be good, but you would have to protect the item/s from the elements somehow or it would degrade the quality of the item over a few days. Empty coffee cans, tupperware, paint cans, plastic paint buckets, biohazard drums, and oil barrels would be good things to fill and bury. X marks the spot.... -
idea for more secret stash places for hide loot
☣BioHaze☣ replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the ideas, but I think loot will be so much more rare that you won;t find that you have much overstock, or superflous items. -
Improved melee, adding hand to hand, and a whole range of possible P2P interactions will be great to see, if done well. It was also suggested that every item have some limited melee capability.... Imagine beating someone with a shoe, or a can of beans. If we can push.... I want to be able to sneak up behind a zombie or bandit at the top of a flight of stairs, and push them down the stairs with appropriate results. Possible range of random outcomes: merely being knocked down a flight of stairs and having to stand again > broken neck insta-death.

It's nice to see all the updates in one place. thanks, smasht. dayzdaily is a great idea too. -
I use one of these for long distance cycling excursions. It's a good idea for an item, but should only be usable with certain backpacks that have a compartment for the hydration pack, which means it won't take up an item slot inside the bag itself.

Pretty Much Ignoring Stand-Alone - Anybody Else?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to Vicco's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just reading this forum gets me riled enough. Some people actually seem to take DayZ development personally somehow, like every day they have to wait for the SA is another day Rocket n' friends get to kick them in the balls and take their lunch money. One of my oldest friends gets himself so worked up over releases that he has been known to make cardboard mock ups of controllers so he can "know what they feel like in his hands". Seeing him get obsessive helped me to scale back my own hysteria for these things, and I now have the attitude that games , "will be released when they are ready". No amount of screaming, crying, or whining will make it come out faster. I imagine that so much of this banter will be a faint memory very shortly after the SA version is released. -
Of course, in a perfect world players would not use DayZ for DM at all! BUT, you cannot control the fact that people might like the look and feel of DayZ in a DM map/scenario. Maybe if you accommodate these people it equals better survivor style DayZ, and more sales for DayZ in general.
-
I think the first few months of erm "live" Alpha development are going to be amazing. We will watch DayZ culture mature around the game engine while the game engine evolves. I play as a survivor/hero so I hope the game is able to move more towards survival than DM. It would be nice if DayZ became known for being a game where you can make random team ups in game, safely. Maybe we should have small DM maps for people who want nothing more than DM with a DayZ skin. It would separate a large part of the KoS crowd who would then find regular DayZ boring/unnecessary. Different hive, and load outs depending on maps etc.... I dunno.

so, dayz is infact mainly pve, not pvp as i thought.
☣BioHaze☣ replied to Johnny Trigger's topic in New Player Discussion
DayZ is definitely what you make of it. I have personally played mostly PVE solo survival horror style. I avoided all contact with other players, at all costs. Last summer I had a 28 day character (no pun), with 1,000+ dead zombies killed. I had camps and built vehicles on multiple servers, all maintained by myself. Only when I began to get cabin fever, and tried to help a random player did I get killed. This game has a learning curve, but once you get comfortable gearing up, it requires some imagination to sustain replay value. -
Apparently I was in on the first page of this madness, handing out beans back in January. Now I see it's at 80+ pages..... I have gone through 40+, and laughed quite a bit. Awesome stuff!

How about some legitimate DayZ jump scares?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to kasigawa's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think just adding the slow moving zombie that never stops tracking would be good. It would be cool if some of those were randomly roaming the woods. I don't think it would add scare factor, or provide "jump scares" so much though. I do however believe zombies should latch onto you and/or tackle you in some instances. If you fight too long at point blank range, it would only make sense for the zombies to try to take a bite out of you at some point.... I would also go so far as to suggest an homage to Resident Evil by adding the mechanic for using (and then losing) your hunting knife in a zombies skull as an emergency zombie detachment maneuver. -
Lol Give those beans to your dad.

Not just you, Uwe. I was merely shedding light on a serious topic, while injecting humor into the equation. I saw a Muslim extremist DayZ clan pop-up months ago. If we had an evangelical Christian DayZ clan I guess the circle would be complete. All of that kind of thing needs to stay as far away as possible from my video game world. Though if we have a group that wants to dress up like Nazi's, we should let them. More on topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgXNVA9ngx8

Is there some thinly veiled neo-Nazi contingent? Can we put SS uniforms in the SA for the semi-closet Nazi types of the gaming world? That's someone I want to hunt. Sincerely, Hitler's Testicle

If you could go back to being a noob, would you?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I left for many months and with all the changes I feel noob again. Personally, I don't think I would want to go back to being brand new. The learning curve for me was steep (I'm not a big FPS player), and I was far too trusting in the beginning.
