Correct, and it was purposefully left that you had to "hand load" guns that do not have mags/clips and when you reload a mag/clip it's done by drag and drop. It's no where near like every other game where you just bash a key and magically have a fresh full mag from your enormous ammo pile with click-click sound.

retro19, many games have spent many more years in development without much publicity or any crowd funding and still were a success. The mod alone was a big success for Bohemia. The SA has capitalized on that success and has shown waves of interest as features are added. IF for every 100 people that purchased DayZ only 1 stayed on to play for more than a year (and the money from the other 99 still helped development) that would be a pretty decent measure of success (if you then consider games tend to offer 40-80 hours of play time for a single 60$ game). Let's flash forward about 20 odd months from now to a hypothetical 1.0 release. A massive trove of craft-able and modify-able gear to find on a huge map, many vehicles, land, sea, and probably air, many zombie models with improved AI, ind-epth health and medical systems, base building, and more!! All of the above things (done well of course) will spur more and more people to take interest in DayZ. And then there's the PS4 release. The money to make this game as it should be is already there and the modest 3 year dev time line for the 1.0 release is well within a reasonable length of time for a large game such as this to be built. Currently DayZ is mostly PvP. I also believe this will change or the nature of the PvP will change. I think a lot of people will leave DayZ when it becomes more difficult to survive and get high end loot. I think a lot of people will join DayZ when it becomes more difficult to survive and get high end loot. Trading one group of short term instant gratification fans for long term, invested, DayZ fans who will create a wide range of stories beyond the *bang bang pew bang pow* of the PvP set.

I was on a server with you earlier today. I was going to try to get to the prison island but stopped for lunch instead. :P You probably took all the good loots! :D

It seemed like a white V3S I found on experimental had this problem.... You would hear the RPM rev sound but the truck never seemed to find the next gear.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
☣BioHaze☣ replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I usually mix ruined and pristine as this can balance temperatures in some instances and still be waterproof, while also providing some low maintenance camo. The latest experimental AI makes fighting the infected very different from what you see on stable now and we will likely see many more updates for them in the future as well. -
I actually meant to quote this in my post... thanks! :P We'll see just how far they take it....
-
The evolution and time line I spoke of fuels demand in waves. Look at how other dev teams have floundered in trying to "out DayZ", DayZ already. The "you're doing it wrongs" will just get quieter with time. This project has massive legs IMO.

retro19, please allow me to elaborate. DayZ is a special case. It's development has been exceptionally public and is constantly evolving. Now, JUST take into consideration how far we are from 1.0 AND PS4 release....

I'm not 100% opposed to this concept really (varied accuracy). I personally would be willing to learn how to dial in/adjust sights if I had to of course, but I'm not so sure we'll see DayZ dev go there. It would be impressive to see in implementation, that's for sure. We would need different levels of pristine I guess or as someone suggested a new class of conditions for firearms alone? Guns known to be of highly varied quality (mosin) could be labelled as pristine yet have poor accuracy AND poorly aligned sights needing adjusting, compensating, and more regular maintenance. Guns known to be of higher quality would be more reliable and accurate due to their being better built originally. Is there precedence for this level of authenticity for firearms in a game?
-
People have been saying this for years and it's still not true. Just becuase you saw 5 people put this completely unfinished game down doesn't mean 10 others you don't know about didn't just buy it. The changes being discussed here may drive some people away but those of us following from the beginning know the benefits of PATIENCE.

Sway should stay and will probably be tweaked more than once in the future. I'm pretty sure jamming due to degradation of weapon condition and ammo condition is planned or has been discussed by devs. I'd rather simply keep weapon damage down to possible jamming personally. It just sounds overcomplicated to have an inaccuracy factor. Are we going to want improperly sighted guns in the game as well? Should we have to test the accuracy of each firearm and for some adjust the sights?

I do not believe DayZ was originally intended to be about PvP military style tactical gun battles. The authenticity aimed for by the devs, and the games origins as a mod from a military sim game, ensure that many people from all areas of firearms enthusiasts will naturally gravitate to this game. As an open world sandbox game, you can make "the story" of DayZ what ever you want, I just resent the lack of imagination that this just a KoS or mil-sim game play style. I know a little about bullet drop and calibers prior to DayZ just from playing other games that featured bullet physics. I could also probably understand more military jargon than I realize, but this is not what I came to DayZ for. I also believe that a lot of how you choose to play actually boils down to the age of the player. Young, restless people will be more likely to KoS. Older people tend to play more neutral. Since WW1 we've all been trained, especially military folks to, "shoot the silhouette". This breaks down the natural reflex to not shoot/kill another human. Now put a gun in the hands of someone trained this way in a video game and they will shoot anything that moves (that can't holler back on their TS). The current work being done on increasing zombie numbers and zombie AI may change a lot of this. I have felt for a long time now that A LOT of people are "comfortable" using DayZ in a way that won't jibe with future updates.

Sorry Wolf Mask AKM Ghillie Guy With Red Arm Band

"Sorry threads" usually are a mix of gloating and regret. How much of each depends on the OP.... -
How many times have you been killed by a server hopper?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
I'm glad you appreciate my ability to debate without too much flaming. I do not come to DayZ for PvP, ever. The only times I find myself in a firefight are when I am fired upon first. Sometimes I die because I believe a guy is friendly, sometimes I don't. I don't really care if I die.... we're going to get wiped very often at this stage anyway. I'm interested in the random experience and killing zombies (yay zombies are coming back!). I personally don't need all the military gear but I'm very satisfied when I "organically" find it. I've pretty much done all of this without exploiting the global hive (in the mod). I did change servers a couple of times in the mod to find vehicle parts but only after a very thorough search of nearly all the possible locations for said part. COUNTLESS times I have scoured prime loot locations just to find them picked clean and COUNTLESS times I've moved on to another town to continue my search. -

☣BioHaze☣ replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
There are A LOT of legit reasons to change servers. ...is not one of them. That's exploiting low pop for ease of looting to then go PvP on a high pop server with that same loot. Why not play another game that spawns you with gear and have your PvP sooner? -

☣BioHaze☣ replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
Changing servers after a FULL of scouring an entire server to get one last tire is legit. Looting one to play on another is exploitation. Period. Kid. -
You're right. And Unreal Tournament did the rest.... it's a long time flailing genre IMO.
-
Good job rounding all those guys up! It's good evidence of the pure increase in numbers as well! Due to the current instability of the servers I'm shocked you were able to gather that many aggro'd zombies without crashing. It also seemed to me that the zombies you had following you were badly bugged and slow due to the amount of them all trying to chase you. Therefore I think this is not a great example of how they function when fighting them in 0.55. True horde AI is in the works and very soon to hit experimental.
-
You're not the first person to say this.... What part of "completely reworked AI" do you not understand? Edit: If you've been playing FPS games since Doom you would find the entire genre to be repetitive and fairly unsatisfying. I know a lot of people who have called themselves "gamers" and all they do is play FPS games. Boring, lame, and limited in gameplay mechanics. Shoot the silhouette, repeat. Sniping? Pretty boring amongst the borings. It was fun in conkers bad fur day after that it's all just playing soldier with fancier tech. I play DayZ for a massive random Survival Horror experience, which happens to feature firearms. But as soon as you put a gun in somebodies hand in a video game..... shoot everything that moves. If all you want to do is shoot people who can't shoot back, never saw you, and probably have nothing you need and this is your idea of fun..... Have at it, but it often stinks of small minded dare I say immature troll play style....

☣BioHaze☣ replied to Wookieenoob's topic in Suggestions
I'm for this long after most other things are done. I want ultra rare items. Like 6 flame throwers in the entire global economy.... -
Cool beans! One day soon... when there's zombies enough.... I'll get to be a zombie hunter again....

Weapons that degrade require far too much cleaning
☣BioHaze☣ replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
I'm no firearms expert but from what I understand the AK in particular should be extremely robust. I dunno.... http://weaponsman.com/?p=12534 Maybe AK's and a few other "simpler mechanism" firearms (mosin, derringer, and dbl barrel, comes to mind perhaps) will eventually be balanced out in beta to be more robust than others. Anyway, it's nice to hear they are testing this for future use! -
teleported by hack or some kind of map glitch maybe? There was a hack in the mod that dropped people from the sky to their deaths.
