    "THIS IS DAYZ, THIS IS YOUR STORY." The moment you start to bring any adjustable stats or classes in it becomes less your story and more the story of some developer. You're not a medic because you heal people faster, you're a medic because you choose to heal people.

    DayZ Spawn System...

    Not all spawns are coastal. They may tweak the locations over time but I doubt it's a priority really. We have a long way to go until 1.0 ladies and gents.

    Status Report - 24 mar 15

    I'm excited to experiment with todays update and see what progress was made to polish the new infected AI! Prioritizing the camera angles now is also a very smart move I think. All of these developments are very exciting and I for one greatly appreciate all of the hard work AND the amount of communication and community involvement we are seeing lately! Cheers! :beans:

    Infected Sounds - Voices (w/ possible decay)

    Beans for teaching me the term Uncanny Valley. Also, I think the infected should have a VERY wide range of possible sounds/utterances. Maybe single words of Cyrillic mixed in, almost lost in the sound. Like, "It hurrrrrts!" "Pain!" "The pain." "Nyet, Nyet, Nyet, Nyet, aaaaaaaarrrrrgh!!!!"

    Two questions.

    Just remember, there are 20 months left in development and even the weapons and how they function are very early versions in the game right now. The more you read the status reports and time line info the more excited you can get for future updates! :)

    CJFlint I didn't read all of your above posts but hey man.... just have a bit more patience, I think the game you want (WE want) is being made and funded by these CoD/BF people. Just a little more patience.... OP: all of the things you have suggested are rather old suggestions and watches were in the mod. Zippo lighters should really be the go to as Ash pointed out, they can be filled with gas (or most fuels). Disposables should be everywhere but of varying quality. Blue flame wind proof "fishermans lighters" should be available if we are going to have refillable butane.... I want to believe that a full compliment of true survival gear is being put into DayZ. Here's hoping! :beans:

    So a Mosin should take clips that we magically don't need in DayZ? Edit: Also, I've seen devs make the mistake of saying clip when you should say mag. It does happen too often IMO.

    Stamina system and weight for items incoming ladies and gents. Why does it feel like the development road map exists in a vacuum sometimes? The devs have said numerous times that we won't be able to run everywhere as we do now (for multiple reasons really). Why am I the first person to say this in here? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ :facepalm:

    You should try to get used to KoS players as they are probably the mass majority of players in the public hive. In this case you seemed to be either a victim of a hack or some very bad luck. I personally never KoS and try to encourage others not to KoS as well. If you want to play a neutral/good character, you need to come up with strategies for each encounter to help ensure your safety. Often I am able to avoid KoS and players who act shady. Sometimes though, I still get caught unaware or pay the price for trying to avoid conflict.
  15. From the latest status report, if you missed it... "Moving on to more advanced weapon customization, we've done a good deal of discussion on allowing more specific customization per weapon. Adding in rail systems, shoe horn mount scopes, barrel swaps, and so on. Controlling when and where this is done is critical to the flow of gameplay across the map. Creating hot spots, and high traffic areas for players looking to gear up, and create their favorite weapon. At this point, we're looking at adding in advanced crafting tables into this existing (soon to be enter-able) maintenance structure scattered throughout Chernarus. " I would think the crafting table being put into the above structures could allow for the kind of repairs you are looking to do.

    How Often Do You Meet Survivors?

    Yes. When server stability and client side stability reach a certain point they will begin raising server population limits. There have been 75 & 100 person servers that have been up short term (mostly in experimental builds I believe) for testing purposes but they often don't stay on the server list long. I avoid people most often. I sometimes try to chat and find out if the player is friendly/neutral if the situation is right. I often am just looking for an impromptu trade.... We should also see some changes to player interaction when the zombies are improved and there are more of them. There's still 20 months left of development to go until 1.0!

    At the very least I would like to see a shot to the heart be =/= headshot. I'm pretty sure/sincerely hope that location specific damage and their effects are being worked on.....

    why are there so many novodmitrovsk area spawns?

    I believe where you spawn is random. Do I feel like I've had more Novo spawns recently? Actually, yes I do. Maybe for testing purposes they want us in that area for more chances for a truck perhaps.... and it could just be random too after all.

    It was meant to show you the correlation between the 2 as an EXPLOIT. If you are willing to wall peak, then you could probably justify server hopping....

    Many of the people who think that 3rd person in DayZ doesn't need fixing are probably the same people who justify server hopping. I don't play 3rd person because it is immersion breaking and is EXPLOITABLE. Why should some KoS knob get the drop on me because he can astral project his soul over his body to see me from the other side of a wall? 3rd person in DayZ was never done properly, period, and needs a full overhaul. I very rarely play on 3rd person servers but I probably would if the peeking exploit didn't exist.
