That's "the long haul"?! More like July(summer) 2012 for some of us. People have been using the exploits of the mod and the exploits of the SA to play casual PvP style. Meanwhile people like me have been DYING to see this game swing away from PvP in any way possible so they can enjoy a survival horror game without dodging a bunch of kids who just want to play grab ass (like they can in 1,000's of other instant PvP games) while they turned this message board into a joke. I think your terminology is flawed. There are no 0.55 elitists. There are people who want DayZ and then there's everyone else.

Vanilla DayZ will have baseline parameters that must be overcome before you can begin "your story". Real survival is truly tedious and requires unflinching attention to detail. The real reward comes when you can truly say you are "thriving" which should really be the end game for every player, no matter how they play. You would be the master of the elements, wanting for nothing, and could be free to play out your DayZ as you see fit. The most rewarding things in my life always seem to involve the most work over the longest period of time. I don't mind a game that reflects that.

This isn't the game for you right now. Maybe come back when modding starts. Sheesh.

Actually, it's completely intentional. "Moving past the 0.55 build new system implementations we hit a rather hot button topic as of late, and one I promised to speak on earlier this week. Just how hard is DayZ supposed to be? What is the targeted experience here? How valuable should items, and thus what I carry be to me as a player? I like to think we're pretty up front about exactly what DayZ is and is supposed to be, and as we move closer to 1.0 more and more of this will begin to take shape. Once, when asked how valuable tools and resources should be to a player - on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is finding everything you need without issue, and 10 is elation over finding a can of beans (I'm paraphrasing here) Dean was quoted saying an emphatic "10". Some folks have expressed concern that the increasing difficulty in surviving and combating the environment would hurt player interaction. To which I say.. Sure, it will hurt player interaction if by player interaction you mean folks wandering up and down the coast, wearing pink dresses and chasing each other with fire extinguishers. However I firmly believe it will -drive- and foster a different type of player interaction." http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/223747-status-report-08-apr-15/

RAWR, all my beans R belong to you, devs!! So much great stuff to look forward to! Dem crafting hotspots. Stamina and item weight. NEW PLAYER MOVEMENT SYSTEM. :o <3

FPS PvP game play became boring to me after GoldenEye. It's always the same experience. Survival horror done well, interests me greatly. After being KoS'd recently it took me a less than 2 hours to be completely geared, including SMG. Your entire statement I quoted here doesn't really make much sense. You're still squirming and whining about the loot, meanwhile a live update is being implemented for this as we speak (were you even aware?). This game will only become less forgiving with time and touring Chernarus as you were, will never be the same.

Comments like this scream, "Help! I'm playing the wrong game!" It's not possible that maybe some of us have played just about every FPS that provides instant gear and PvP and want a large and varied experience over the long term. No, this game is and will further become known as, "a game for old ladies now who love picking fruit". Foolish young upstart.

What would happen if the 0.54 people were given some servers.
☣BioHaze☣ posted a topic in General Discussion
I know it would never happen but what if Bohemia just allowed there to be a 0.54 "shard" or something? Maybe a dozen US and Euro servers each and maybe 1 or 2 for the other regions. How much of the population would migrate there, and stay? How would it make sense to perpetuate what was such a rough and feature poor iteration, rather than have those that want it wait for modding to get the PvP mod for DayZ? -

I really hope and want to believe that there are a lot of people who follow and play DayZ that are MORE interested in the survival and zombie killing aspects of the game that we just don't hear from as much. I think the PvP crowd is more of a revolving door of players, while the other play styles don't burn out and get bored with DayZ as fast. Over time, elements of the game may drive away the PvP crowd to some degree (which is really fine by me) but they might be replaced by a long term more "invested" player base that only keeps steadily growing. -
There are many many more infected citizens from every walk of life INSIDE Green Mountain waiting to be released. Sometime in the coming months, the devs will release them from the underground compound that has been keeping them at bay. Dare I say, during their slumber they will have become, smarter, stronger, and differ greatly in their tactics in how they try to exterminate the healthy, the immune....

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

JubeiDOK - it's nice to see you posting more positively about an update. I think it's a good sign when someone as critical as you sees the improvements. I personally have not found a police car OR jeep that wasn't looted but thankfully have had my SMG fun thanks to some unlooted police stations.... Bus Stops are worth checking now. People pass them up even in coastal areas and I'm finding food, drink, and more in them. -
Never really got chance to run through the mags I found before I got KoS'd for the crime of killing infected.... You create A LOT of new threads, man. No offense or flame intended but this could have maybe gone into the general 0.55 discussion. You may get some good answers there and more quickly. Edit: Or the weapons thread in the fancy dev section of the forum, possible calling out to a dev involved....

Probably some kind of map interaction glitch. I've seen similar in earlier patches when the pathing was even more glitched.
-
Yeah... though I DO want like 1 flamethrower per map, what you say is the truth. Zombie horde + flamethrower = hours of fuel throwing fun!
-
A zippo lighter balanced on the key is great. I'm lefty and use arrow keys to move though.... Soon we will not be able to sprint everywhere due to stamina and weight systems being put in place.

I wore down a Sporter to Damaged recently. Yes, you can ruin the gun with wear if you don't clean it. The cleaning kits are out there, I have come across a couple myself.

Hi! I think you should read more about where this game is headed! It's only going to get A LOT more difficult! :o http://www.dayztv.com/standalone/dayz-2015-roadmap/

The important part you're not internalizing is that the "forum elitists" as you call them have very little to do with the way the game is being made. Some of us just understood the vision for DayZ much earlier and therefore have a strong sense for where the game is headed. The constant influx of KIDS, yes KIDS, who come on this board and: A: Treat DayZ like it's ARMA, period; and then proceed to tell everyone around that is what DayZ IS. B: Make suggestion threads for things that have been suggested a THOUSAND times and NEVER bother to use the search to find if the topic exists. C: During that whole time people like me, who want a survival game have had to endure the stupid, ignorant, smug, idiotic mentality, that went along with those kids trying to tell everyone and anyone that DayZ IS PVP. D: These Jerry cans I saved are overflowing with the tears of these same KIDS who are now screaming to the rafters because they were too lazy to learn about the direction DayZ was taking and they are the absolute sweetest internet tears I have ever tasted. mmmmm SOOO many delicious QQ's. Now tell me again how those of us who were informed and have to endure mass ignorance should couch our language so we aren't being douche bags to ignorant snots?

killed by zombie while i was waiting for timer
☣BioHaze☣ replied to BroskyBro's topic in General Discussion
This is always a big fear for me and thankfully I've never been killed from it. Unfortunately, lost connections, unexpected server restarts, and every other form of random disconnect can happen. :( IF you have a choice, never log out somewhere you feel infected may spawn and preferably log out in a house or the woods. I've always wanted something to prevent me from being killed while Scotty is beaming me onto the map but if we do get something it will likely be later in the development of the game. -
^As this is the first iteration of the new loot spawn system and economy I guarantee that the entire thing will be tweaked multiple times before 1.0.
-
The only reason a large population here is so focused on PvP is because the placeholder systems in the game were exploitable to that end. Military gear is GREAT for killing infected too, isn't it?? Why would that only be for player killers??? <So small minded.... This IS a survival horror game with PvP elements, NOT a PvP game with survival elements. I'm glad you enjoy a more raw survival experience and are NOT here JUST for the PvP. It shows you have appreciation and imagination. ***My apologies if cursing/foul language bothers you but this board is NOT censored for language and I am by no means required not to curse. Sometimes the right word is fuck. If coarse language detracts from my point, it is a price I'm willing to pay.

The OP was a (circle) jerk first in this case, see? I don't make this game and don't pretend to know exactly how it will be, I just test it and present thoughts and ideas. What I can tell you is that for going on 3 years now those of us who do want a "death by zombie simulator/bear grylls simulator" (you know, DayZ) have had to endure the low brow casual PvP set who are trying desperately to make this DayCoD. Finally, their uppance, has come.
-
OP, DayZ is not what YOU think it is. We have been testing a fraction of the elements planned on the road map. Unfortunately for you, you were misinformed somehow about what DayZ is going to be. I suggest you read the development road map and try to imagine all of those things in the game for a better idea of where it's headed. http://www.dayztv.com/standalone/dayz-2015-roadmap/ Telling people who want to kill zombies in DayZ to go play something else is just incredibly sad. I'm sad for you. :(
