Thanks for the notes, RE: mags in guns. I did see scopes on a lot of guns personally. I also wondered how many empty mags, or guns without mags, were that way because someone had emptied them before me.

The responsiveness on a -20 pop server was great last night. I went from Kamyshovo to Krasnostav looting mostly civilian locations, 3 police stations, 2 cop cars, and 1 green guard post. One thing I noticed, I am not seeing magazines spawning inside guns anymore. After 3 hours I was pretty well geared but did not see any infected until Krasnostav. There I hand carried a Trumpet to use for the few infected I found. After killing one in the town square I seemed to draw aggro from an unseen infected nearby. I was inside a corner restaurant and hoped I would lose aggro and either snipe the infected as he walked away or dash out the door when the infected lost interest. After a minute I noticed the infected seemed to be staying aggro'd even though I was fully hidden and in fact I never saw this other infected and only heard it screaming and growling. I finally made a dash for the woods and stopped in a tree to log out.

Wooo, sweet! Great work devs! I'm super psyched for .61 experimental too!
-
Le reason to start fresh! AND POSSIBRU .61 SOON™?!
-
Bad ass story made better because you did not KoS (IMO). Good on you.
-
Russian choppers aren't supposed to smoke and never have. ^I thought this was common knowledge?

BYE.

That's out of DayZ forever, Brando.
-
But I would leave because NOT ENOUGH INFECTED. Once they add the dynamic infected spawn system then MAYBE you can make a claim that a DayZ core experience even exists. If I thought DayZ was only ever going to have this few zombies I never would have stuck with the stand alone all this time. Infected everywhere is going to change so much about how we have to play. How anyone could think this current CoDayZ resembles a complete DayZ game engine is beyond me. Popular = shit game IMO. A challenging DayZ experience might just drive some away and draw in others....

Thanks devs/all!! I really like seeing how loot balancing is coming along, it looks like you are on the right track there. Of course I'm DYING to meet my new infected friends!
-
If you have the chance, you can also log out with backpacks in hand to preserve your favorite stashed goodies before a wipe. A camp on Experimental actually does make sense now....

I miss you. There I said it. Seriously, I'm most of the way burnt out on .60 as it stands and I'm starting to fantasize about zombies roaming where there are none again. :/ Also seriously, there is A LOT for you to enjoy in .60, it's a whole new DayZ! :P

Indeed, I made a point to become comfortable with the RAK and Skorpion mainly for this reason. .380 is usually 2nd most common to .22, so after quite a few days/hours and only a few infected to kill I do have 2 full mags and 3 full stacks at the ready but that took quite a bit of effort to amass. The Sporter (and Trumpet) seems to need some attention to zeroing etc before they can be used to their potential. The Sporter will become a much more viable weapon with the 30 round mags once it's fine tuned. I could have probably 500 rounds of .22 by now, all pristine, but only the Amphibia seems worth carrying really. And now that they dialed down the size in inventory the SMG's make a more viable sidearm (as long as you remember to never swap it to your back with your long arm). For my FAL, all of the bullets I've had were gifted to me except for maybe 2 I found in a snap loader in a deer stand. I currently have just a full mag for the FAL after paying a few rounds forward to emu for his longhorn, and I would have had even more if Brooks had not been KoS'd before we could meet up.

Scarcity and bullet conditions are having a marked impact on how and when players choose to shoot. Keeping high end rifles stocked with enough bullets to play Rambo seems to be more difficult than ever. Having 200 rounds to thoughtlessly throw down range doesn't seem to be as much of a thing anymore. Larger groups can survive and sustain long enough to kit out to full military gear, while more solo players seem to be packing civilian gear and weapons, either due to shorter life span, or by playing it safe outside military locations. While we had little trouble stocking up on food initially, that too petered off a bit and we focused a little on hunting some chickens and deer to supplement what we found. I had stashed pumpkin seeds in our very first camp but unfortunately that was wiped with the last update. Our original semi-hidden camp was compromised, so we planted a few barrels and tents in choice places around the map. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm so fucking psyched for .61 already! Release the hounds (and the infected)!!!

I forgot to mention that we caught a random player up in a deerstand and held him at gun point while one of us looted a heli. Though he looked sparsely geared upon questioning he admitted he had a working firearm and friends in Elektro which he was going to meet. We left him there unharmed and he asked our names right as we left. Hopefully we instilled a little faith in that random guy that we all don't just KoS.....

Had a nice couple long sessions today equaling close to 8 hours I think. Gary got shot while we were trying to loot up north but we managed to lay low and eventually flush out the would be murderer. IMT, Luc, and Gary all hit this guy before he finally went down. Later on we were running a helicopter route and as emuthreat looted Gary cleared the left and I cleared the right (with a town in the near distance) I was side stepping along a line of small bushes and Gary said he could hear a character making pain sounds. I did not hear this and continued along the bushes, a moment later slipping into a bush with hopes of scouting the town. As soon as I backed into the bush I started getting shot from point blank range and could not see the guy at all. I spun around a couple times, half engulfed by the bush until I finally saw him running across the field running toward the town. I squeezed off 8 rounds from the FAL but I don't know that I hit him at all. My world is quite gray and I'm bleeding so I doubled back to my friends and we went to a nearby treeline where I bandaged. I gave emu a saline to inject me with and I was mostly healed. When I finally checked my gear he had miraculously not ruined anything of mine and had maybe taken a couple things from pristine to worn. As we continued to put distance between ourselves and that chopper, emu and Gary heard my character making pain sounds (again) but I did not. After a little more running I decided to try a splint which did solve the problem. I still have not died to gun fire in .60 (I died once stepping off a -1 meter high rock though), and I have survived nearly half a dozen firefights now keeping the FAL I found when I randomly found a chopper by myself. Here's a just a couple random pics.... ^Stay frosty! So many players EVERYWHERE! On a full server there is only 3.75 square km per person on a 225 square km map...

It takes a few minutes at most if you know how to spam properly (floating the mouse over the max players or connecting failed dialogue). What happened to staying away until .61???
-
I was running a looting route in the North with a mountain backpack in my hands and found loot was respawning for the most part. Some places seemed to have a mix of new and old items while others had all new items. Green guard posts will go from having 4 fire arms to having mostly stun batons, or mostly trench shovels. In just a few hours I had storage and many of the basics of our camp back up again. If I play later maybe I'll get into more risky endeavors.
-
I'm thinking we should keep backpacks in storage and log out with them in our hands with anything we don't want wiped by a possible patch/persistence wipe.
-
203.1 MB INCOMING! Edit: character is the same, persistence was wiped (our camp is gone).
-
Man, you're having terrible luck with timing lately. :( Hopefully we'll see a playable patch guys! No need to panic until there is something to panic about, right?

When you're a tea totaler (which I am) anybody who drinks alcohol can look like an alcoholic. When you absolutely don't (by definition here folks) just "kill all unknown players at first sight", anybody who ever finds a reason to KoS can look like a bandit or murderer. When I hear people (including my friends) say they are going to go seek revenge on random people after being KoS'd by some other random people it honestly sounds pathetic and only fuels the perpetual game of pass the grief potato (which is really just a salty bitch turd). I transcended the psychology that perpetuates KoS and adapted my gameplay style to increase my survival times according to the mechanics that are currently in place. Sometimes that means leaving a prime loot location early because someone else has arrived. Sometimes it means talking and going our separate ways. Lately it's more like a game I would call "children with guns". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think Peter and Hicks are tuning scarcity. A lot of ammo found is worse for wear. The ammo you probably have right now is fine for running around a map with only 59 other players but it will not go nearly as far if there are infected in every town. Let's see how empty the .61 servers are when every one would rather play .60 Stable without worrying about infected so they can CoDayZ. Wait and see, there will be people complaining about having zombies in their zombie game. -_-
-
I totally understand. Let me just say I usually do everything in my power to NOT KoS but if someone rushes me or stays too close I either leave or kill them. You probably shouldn't worry too much on this one. Your only real lose was maybe a chance at having an unusual experience with a group of randoms rather than getting pitchforked by an angry mob.

And so are some people, hey-o!
