I found a bus on the side of the road and thought I might use my last grenade and some magnum rounds to destroy it. Driving it up on a hill, I hoped to be far enough away from the infected so that my work could go undisturbed. I figured dropping it on the engine was a good start. In an effort to get a cool screenshot I did not respect the blast radius of the grenade and paid the ultimate price for this pic.... I hope this killed the bus along with me, otherwise I hope someone finds it, and finishes it off. I'll probably try to get back to it before the server restart. *sigh*

You know, this is a suggestion I do not recalling hearing before... and I like it! It may well be something for the more ambitious back end features but this could add more intrigue and variation to the set and setting of DayZ.

I too would like a system for identifying friends that is authentic but not immersion breaking. Waypoints and tags are definitely a mod feature best left off vanilla, and mods will give a lot of people the variety of experiences they are looking for in general. With many clothing modifications and combinations you can make a fairly unique look which can be distinguishable rather quickly. Also it's possible that beards and scars planned may add to the perceived personalities of our characters. Larger armband color schemes, and more unique clothing configurations and colors are the most I would hope for at this point.

Sure but if any of you actually cared about the process we are involved with you would read and read and read, and then maybe figure out what's being addressed and in what order and why. It's important to tell new players/forum members to get caught up and it is in no way the responsibility of the mods. If you had the perspective of a 5 year member who has read EVERYTHING and is fully engaged in the process you would find these posts tedious at best.

Signatures? I had forgot they were even a thing! With more features in place, is it safe to say that DayZ Standalone Forum is in Beta now? I'm hoping some decent emoticons are forthcoming.

Hello raisin flavored horse! This all happened after today's maintenance. Generally, we've seen an uptick in engagement with the devs via our new friend @Baty Alquawen! ^This has been really fantastic! Otherwise, it's been a little sleepy other than the build threads. Maybe a little pre-spring cleaning and a few new doilies hanging about will draw more flies back to this pile.

Every time you tweak your system for one update the next update can easily ruin how the game runs. If you run everything at a playable baseline setting and don't try to squeeze every frame from every build you will find frames are usually consistently playable. Tweaking every iteration of DayZ constantly in some futile effort to get AAA frames from an Alpha is idiotic. Optimization occurs constantly but the passes that will stick are a long long long way off still. This entire fucking game does not play anything like it will eventually either. The way you perform EVERYTHING is going to change drastically and I'm one of the few that are mentally prepared for this. There's always 1,000's of other games that are actually shooters that get lots and lots of frames and are feature complete. If DayZ does not run to your liking you should consider playing something else until it's ready.

As the status report pointed out, part of the problem is purely volume. Feedback from play on mostly empty servers can only get them so much good data regarding server stress. Stable is the new Experimental out of necessity. ....looks like 138043 is DayZ until at least Monday.

For nearly 20yrs I've wanted to visit Prague particularly as I've always heard good things. Playing DayZ has only contributed to my resolve to visit the CZ.... Thanks for the update! Moar Exp patches plz.

Nothing further to report? A whole weekend, no developments RE: encounters with server regulars/meta-monsters? So disappoint. Awaiting receipt of new mouse, until then, happy trails.

12PM EST = 1st cut-off for a patch today. 1-3PM EST still possible but not likely based on recent trends = I'm still not logging in again until after 3 so I can "safely" drop my tent..... Is there still a possible patch in the works today, @Baty Alquawen?

Assuming you have tried to log out and in again..... Try F2 or any of the other gesture keys. This may free up or refresh your hands slot. Some changes were made to how the hands slot works to combat duping but it can lock up your hands as well. Good luck! -
Another day long play session including mostly the same people + Pook near the end. I spent A LOT of time merely building and maintaining our camp today. Along with some minor organization I made sure most of us grabbed all of our highest priority gear and logged out with a mil tent in hand in case of a wipe. As soon as we know whether or not we are getting another patch before the weekend, we can then replace the tents and truly organize and build up again.

This was something you could do in the mod. I do not think it is currently possible. Eh, Zod doesn't play regularly anymore I think.... Wait? You're playing DayZ??? I mean.... the devs don't even have DayZ so, did you create a time machine? What we have here is FAR from DayZ and the way you prefer to enjoy this borked frankenmodpatchenstein may not be a viable playstyle in Vanilla. This will NOT be the mod+. Ready for stamina, item weights, a whole new character controller? Everyone who keeps playing like this is how the game will be in the future will eventually rage at some upcoming change that was planned all along. It's like they fall in love with a pretty girl and once they get to know her, they realize they don't actually understand her at all. -

Nice find on the forum avatar. :D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today's 8+ hour session featured emuthreat, starvingart, ThurmanMerman, ColdAtrophy, Baroness (formerly MamaB3ar), fing, Luc, IMT, Hell, and the addition of Scipio (I think that's everyone). Finding vehicles was no problem but military tents seemed to have been severely reduced in number or are spawning somewhere completely different than in the past. Usually in such a long play session we would have +/- 10 military tents and we ended up with 4(?) total. I struck out on a solo mission to Myshkino tents (wrecking a V3S in the process) to check the few containers there but found no tents. Leaving North out of the tents I found a pack of wolves which I try to lead back to the tents so I could kill them from the Hesco structure. They did not follow so I tracked them out to a shed and only after I was basically cornered did I realize I had dropped my shotgun when I swapped to the MP-5! D: They started coming through the shed door and I started firing, the wolf models were bugged, stuck twisted to one side while sliding and it was nearly impossible to tell from where they would attack. I could see the wolf sliding towards me but before it closed the distance on my screen I would get struck from the side! I killed 2, wounded a 3rd running out of ammo, and then resorted to my hatchet = You are dead. Back on the coast (Elektro), I looted my way North before running into emu with his bus. I left camp and met up with Thurman and that's when we passed a 4x4 so he spun around and the guy plowed into us while also trying to hail us (I heard him call out over direct, Thurman did not), on my client I did not see the collision. emu and IMT then came to our locale and immediately was fired upon, this did not end well for the driver.... Collisions with animals seems turned off for now, or roadkill steak would have been on the menu. During our hunt for tents we continued to track these guys, who apparently had the poor choice of Cherno for their home (where we wanted to check shipping containers). Here's a screen of the aftermath of art kill trade. When I passed the doorway the player was in my frames dropped drastically and I only caught a few frames of him before art started trading fire with him. We have a plan for some stunt driving exhibitions, courtesy of emuAir, I'm guessing we'll be posting those results soon. "Where'd the tents go!?"
