After reading your post I deduced that lack of vsync was likely what was causing the game to hitch for me every 6-8 steps. GTX 750 Driver 382.33 Intel i5-4690k @ 3.50 GHz 8gig ram 42" 1920 x 1080 60hz I went through every place I knew of to turn on vsync, experience game specific settings (I also let it optimize for me but it didn't seem to change anything once in game), control panel settings global (fast), and program specific in control panel (fast), as well as in game for DayZ and my hitching problem was fixed on 32 bit. The only other thing I did was I changed my 3D setting to balanced from quality. It sounds like you tried most of these but that's what worked for me. I have yet to try 64 bit but plan to boot back up soon.

There are definitely many new ambient wilderness sounds, some of which I believe I have mistaken for footsteps. It may be a random sound representing a stick falling from a tree or similar shifting of vegetation is what I initially thought.

All in a DayZ work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First long session on the new build (4 hours). Played with emu, pook, and madhatter. I spawned near Berezino again and emuthreat spawned nearby. We started our way West, trying to warm up when needed and meet with pook. Once we found him the search for raincoats, gear, and storage commenced. On our journeys we encountered a neutral rando named Damian. A goodwill teddy bear offering was made and we parted ways as he was headed back towards Berezino to meet a friend. Still the journey North x NW, there was loot to be found but it wasn't proving easy to piece together our favorite things. Green clouds in morning, survivors take warning? Dat map glitch exploit to stay dry though. We fought some wolves, cooked some wolves, ate some wolves. All while keeping the locals in check. Frustrated trying to find the right place for using the barrel to cook, we resorted to the house, in time to warm my character, who was last to get a raincoat. Just following our 2nd wolf encounter pook signed out and that's when I realized it was almost 2am. I had no crashes playing in x64 but the hitching I described did persist regardless of settings changes. Tomorrow I will try 32 bit and see if there is a difference. I know this is the first iteration for the new ambient sounds but I would agree with those people that stated that the ambient sounds could be dialed back a bit and fine tuned to fit different areas better.

Tried to piece together a decent bug out bag on a 3PP in Berezino and paid for talking when some jackass I didn't see knocked me out. I told him I heard him coming and I was starving. He said something unintelligible and before I saw anything something struck me and I was KO'd. He didn't get much of value, so that's ok I guess. Still seems so stupid, every time it happens. Oh well.... That's what the respawn button is for.

Logged in briefly and got to see the new look in the daytime. I am experiencing small hitches in the game every 6-8 steps my character takes. This occurs in 1st and 3rd person. Not sure if it's due to server lag from the full/stressed out server or something from my settings is not right. Everything looks far better and the new sounds are a great step in the right direction. Some fog on the railroad tracks didn't look quite right to me though.

HAHAHAHAHAHA You never even read my posts but rsorted to the name calling you accused others of. Your cogency is so lacking and your vitriol so thin and ill supported. Please take up high rise parkour without practice. PLEASE.

If you think I was being mean, and was just name calling, it's very obvious you didn't care to read what I wrote. Typical myopic idiocy. Why are you here? You do not approve of how DayZ has progressed. You do not agree with the dedicated community here that has actually contributed massively to the games development while you offer NOTHING. Why are you here? Now you have a cheer leader, another person who has contributed NOTHING to development, and it's fueled your silly ego to rail against the regulars here who certainly contribute far more than either of you. Leave this forum if you don't like the community. Leave DayZ if you think Bohemia is so inept and criminally negligent to their customers. The fact that you come here basically with the purpose of shitting on the game and the people who are most dedicated shows you lacking in basic reasoning skills and as far as I'm concerned lacking in intelligence because you cannot simply walk away from something you disdain so much.

Yes, I believe baty posted that there would be a wipe. I just got back from out of town and I'm just too tired to really play. I booted up to take a quick peak and was immediately impressed with the new sound and the darker night. Tomorrow after laundry and lunch, it's a new DayZ. :D

You decide I'm butt hurt, when? I think you are mistaking passion and cogent discourse for something else. Once again ascribing your own meaning to my statements to somehow make yourself feel like you're "winning"....a discussion. :/ You should go get your next ego boost on an oblivious new spawn. You'll feel better.

Yup, bandits rob at gunpoint mostly leaving victims unhramed, murderers just murder. I've always disliked the term bandit as it's applied to DayZ as it basically ignores the true definition of the word. And shooting someone who never saw you....? Is about the least challenging/skillful thing you can do with this game. People with balls talk first. I don't care if I die, at least I had a chance to have something other than a gunfight and if they fire their weapon, I got to have a gun fight! Win win!
-
Your reading comprehension is massively lacking and you seem to ascribe your own meaning to my statements so they'll fit into your assumptions. If 5 fucking years of stupid, ignorant, boring, flaming, CoD babies, doesn't make you salty, nothing will. Also, you're way out of your depth in this conversation with me. I've likely been sharpening this blade since before you knew DayZ existed.

No, it's how the infection spread! Clouds seeded with DOOM.

I will not rollback my opinion that KoS = griefing and griefing = childish. If this offends you then tough titty.
-
It's comforting isn't it? When someone supports your thoughts it's easy to just grab that than to actually articulate yourself. We're not an RP crowd (experimental regulars) were an extremely diverse crowd from medics to murderers and you'd likely find yourself tied up with broken legs and drinking disinfectant if you ran into some of them. You'll likely burn out on the forum or the game or this patch and we'll forget you ever existed. When you have something relevant to design, bugs, or testing, you'll find the people here to be very receptive.
-
Try not to assume too much here. Most of what you describe has nothing to do with how I feel about the game and I know doesn't apply to my friends views on KoS. I can accept KoS as part of the game and always have. I merely encourage people to use the whole sand box and not just be a griefing child 100% of the time.
-
I never said you shouldn't be a murderous CoD piece if that's how you want to play. Just don't expect a warm reception from the truly emersed RP crowd who want a diverse authentic survival experience and not the 8,000th gunfight which is a repetitive and least creative way to approach this sandbox. Keep passing the grief potato and I'll keep telling you you're boring. ;)

It is possible to have bad ideas about what constitutes fun and be "bad at having fun". I know that's a tough concept to embrace but it's true. You've got lots and lots of company. The way you think is popular with the overgrown children of the gaming world.
-
When stamina, weight, and other factors come into play, you will not want to autorun everywhere as your character will basically be run to death like a horse. My hope is that walking will become more necessary until you find a vehicle. This increases the authenticity of the dayz experience and increases the value of vehicles.

Good post, and not off topic IMO. I always appreciated your thoughtful posts, even when I didn't fully agree. Fracturing of the community is something I've been wary of too but I am hopeful that the exponential influx of players to follow 1.0 will fill most popular game versions of the game to our liking. -

Why put labels on people? Maybe you shouldn't consider anybody a fanboy? You've said some terribly misinformed and ill conceived things about DayZ since joining here but you are head and shoulders above these sob mob jokers. Your dream of DayZ as the brutal scarcity survival game conflicted with the states of development and your misinterpretation of dev direction, so the clash of ideas frustrated you. But your ideas about what is and should be DayZ has changed in this time, right? You understand now that maybe you won't prefer vanilla and will have a mod you'll play instead, right? You've taken time to learn more about the project and realize that modding may offer you your ideal experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *********Super important. Very very few people have followed this project straight through from the beginning. The vast majority of people I play with that had 1,000's of hours before I met them played DayZ in a vacuum, fantasizing about the game they think they will have while being mostly ignorant of the process and direction. It is shocking how people can profess their passion for something and dedicate so much time, yet be so wholly and deeply ignorant of the end goal and what that will resemble. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I GET TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO. ^This is as much my place in real life as it is in DayZ dev/game. -

The update will drop while I'm out of town for a couple days this week. The devs are watching me and purposefully messing with ME, I know it, it's always the way!! D:- 285 replies
