Can you survive DoorZ?
-
This does not sound practical for most players. Seasons should make it so your same clothes will be ideal for many days at a time (temperature wise), If you have a camp or storage on a server you can swap clothes when it rains or conditions change. You might do this is an authentic scenario unless you could store rain gear a bit more efficiently as you suggested. I still think large plastic ponchos should be implemented to add some protection from rain to any clothing set at the penalty of being easy to spot and possibly having a noisy rustling plastic sound.

Watching the video Hicks posted in the .61 discussion thread made me realize how hindered our peripheral vision is on a standard single screen. There's a moment where he is facing an incoming infected and he (somehow) steps back just in time to be missed by an unseen infected approaching from his left. I then thought that it might be compensatory to make sounds of movement a tick louder in ones periphery, like your ears were perked up by sound outside your view. I liked the idea of VR for DayZ but a few people have voiced concerns which has made me rethink this. I'm very much in the "wait and see" camp for any new tech, especially the pricey kind. *Someone needs to make a program that works like "keyboard bifocals". It would create a VR overlay of your keyboard is it is in relation to yours eye in real life when you looked down without tilting your head down.

A long time ago the devs shot down layering and it was never really discussed after that. They also shot down the idea of venting by opening jackets partially or entirely saying the animations and models would be very time intensive. Every time I'm cycling in barrier layer and start to overheat what do I do? Simply lower my zipper.... :/
-
This sounds a lot like what Rocket originally intended for DayZ doors. I'm pretty sure he talked about doors actions being tied to mouse movement and physics. ***I also would like fast and slow door opening animations (think RE4) and kicking and ramming of doors.
-
We've seen the model for the bike already, man. Your statements tell me that you should do a lot more reading of old status reports and common threads here to get up to speed.

Thanks devs/all! Welcome @Baty Alquawen! Please give zombies for Halloween!
-
You should check out DayZ's Trello page!

Infected, everywhere. New player controller = Stamina and weight system for players, injured animations... so much more! Updated audio for everything. Balanced health, food, and weather exposure system. New grass and foliage that provides cover from a distance. Build-able vehicles that perform as expected with minimal desynch.
-
Why not post the newest pics too?
-
Will every town, village, and city, be configured for dynamically spawned infected? I feel like nearly any location with habitable human space should have a chance for less than healthy occupants (infected people).

Thanks!

I've taken to following Trello as the pictures there allow my imagination to extrapolate on the possibilities that future builds may offer. Basebuilding is not something I am particularly drawn to but I do believe it offers massive nearly endless game play possibilities for groups. Why would the netting block 2 sides on the highest level...? There you go, the first look at base building assets in a very long time. With all this wood.... we better get Molotov cocktails!
-
So these massive bases full of loot are hackers, right?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to bfisher's topic in General Discussion
No. Large camps don't always mean hackers. My friends accumulate enormous stashes when playing regularly and rarely have more than 6 people working on a camp. -
More Trello treasure.... Looks like the very first picture of a DayZ character aiming inside a vehicle! "Drive this car to Cuba!!"
-
Anyway, being able to carjack or defend oneself from inside a vehicle will add some interesting possibilities for bandits and mobile armed encounters. Currently when inside a vehicle you get the distinct "fish in a barrel" feeling.
-
The DayZ content on the official Trello is only from the devs as far as I know and always has been. This is all stuff that is at least a work in progress internally or at best nearing inclusion in an Experimental patch.

But you cannot fire through the netting, right? So it's no good for sniping from that level.... -

It's really cool, the bumblebee whozits, but when I think apocalypse aircraft my mind always comes back to....

Will the new Infected Spawn mechanic add more zombies?
☣BioHaze☣ replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
@OP Furthermore, let's all hope that the eventual merging of components and optimization of same pays dividends performance wise, which might allow for more global and dynamic infected in the end. It's more secure and lends itself to cleaner reproduction client to client if infected are handled server side. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope that every small town/village is configured with dynamic infected spawn points in .61. I don't care how it's done as long as I feel like I am dodging/confronting them often. Have you noticed infected "pop in" when spawning during testing, Senor Hix? Hopefully clever ways of spawning them in are being devised so we cannot see it happen... -
Change the models of just 3 buildings to their ruined versions and it would signifiantly reduce glitching
☣BioHaze☣ replied to chambersenator's topic in Suggestions
Hi! The new player controller being worked on will solve the wall glitching as was announced by the devs in a status report some months ago. -
Rereading this report is quite disheartening. It looks like so much work is left to be done before we see experimental. Holy shit. Experimental is going to be heinously overpopulated again. The login queues are going to need login queues for their login queues so we can log in while we log in. There have been some extra time intensive changes in recent months and I'm trying be patient. The trello page is my best source for a ray of hope when I'm feeling glum about DayZ dev. I look at the pics and models and animations and I try to imagine them in game, working properly. *You may need that biohazard shower one day.* Because after you go into the contaminated zone to get chopper parts, you will need that shower to not contract some infection. ^Ugh, this is what people are missing. A good example of how the game will change enormously. What we've been playing is a hodge podge bullshit, "here public fuck with this while we make the game", pacifier. Hopefully, at least on servers with like minded people, there will be a lot less CoD/dick size battles and jag-off troll children bullshit. /close vent ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give SA .61
