I'm having the same problem, and this has happened before with other patches. It seems to me that six launcher lags behind when pushing out beta updates....

After reverting to KoS out of frustration I recently decided that I should try to uphold how I thought the game should be played. Also, I hear stories about how friendlies can meet randomly and run together and part ways without incident. My latest approach is basically to run away from fire fights hoping the other player might declare "friendly" or simply avoid conflict all together. The last 5 players I have run into have shot me without provocation. My last death, I was simply trying to leave town when I came upon a guy lying prone. I had every opportunity to kill this asshole long before he got a bead on me but instead I gave him a wide birth, only to be shot in the back. Unless I have pre-confirmed you are friendly outside of the game, I am going to put a bullet in your head if I can. I AM NOT A BANDIT. But the worst of you force my hand. :|

I just hope that video wasn't scripted. Still awesome though. :)

What if I merely make every effort to avoid you, and I'm carrying a firearm? Do you shoot because I might be planning to ambush you somehow? Yesterday I spawned outside cherno and when I entered town I quickly found myself with 3 other players. All around us there were at least 6 agro zombies, momentarily confused as to who to kung fu first. One poor S.O.B. looked to be prone with no weapon, another had no weapon and was running about, a 3rd had a hatchet and beat a hasty retreat. I contemplated trying to kill off the zombies and assist the noobs but there was no immediate high ground or sufficient cover, and too many close quarters zeds for my winchester.

Thanks, next time I'm ready to roll with someone I will try to hit you up. I did ride with a clan on a couple of missions one day. I had fun with them, but didn't join up.

I love how popular reasoning seems to be that since I typed "friendly?" and didn't speak it into a microphone, it meant I should be killed. I have a mic, thanks. But I didn't want to have it on all the time. I did not buy Arma to play Arma, I in fact bought it for DayZ. I have little interest in Arma style missions. I'm also in no hurry to join a clan, and would like random day by day team ups much more. I know I'm not quite good enough to last too long as a lone wolf right now, but I still have fun and keep learning. I have an RL friend who bought CO but hasn't had a chance to install yet. Maybe after playing with him for awhile we can go looking for a clan or something. I put my mic on.... "don't shoot!". I'm trying hard to hold onto a shred of humanity....

Sorry I panicked before I could think to take a screenshot. I logged out of the server immediately as I did not want to be caught in any hack type death or worse.... Can someone please just go "clean out" twitch or something. Crazy stuff....

I think in all my encounters with other players the most positive experience has been when people went separate ways. I would be really happy to simply have an exchange that didn't involve gunfire. Finding safe ground to open a dialogue can be impossible. Stopping to type "friendly" has cost me my life too many times. If I get the drop on someone I need to kill them just to insure safe passage.

Yeah man, it's just not "in my nature" I guess. And yes, this is definitely another rant thread on an old subject, but I just want it to be known that I would not play this way if I had any other choice. If you see my tag shooting at you, it's not because I really want to. It would suck if I end up with a character labelled as a bandit because I murdered out of necessity.

your super meat boy is basically resident evil "professional mode".... Zombie Shepard is a position I already occupy at times though I call it Zombie import/export, or Zombie relocation. And thankfully it's only part time employment. I've met the axe murderer, he is real. I logged into a server and the global message was something like, "beware the crazy axe murderer!". While prone between a house and fence a shadowy figured appeared from the road and dispatched me with one swing of the axe. Delivery Boy or "Fry" - using any means of transport makes gear deliveries for groups/clans, for a price.

I like to think my running away body language would be enough to deter being shot at, but I still get shot at. I won't engage unless I have to.

I am not an FPS guy, and I don't really like this game to be referred to purely as such. Very very little really ever changes in the "FPS" genre. To me, this is MMOResident Evil. I've been waiting for this for most of 20 years. That being said it took me a week to get to the point to where I can have these awesome adventures with decent gear. I've died to every stupid shitty thing in the game (glitches, hackers, bitchass snipers), and I keep coming back for more. Lately I'm finding quite a bit of good stuff on player corpses, or by stumbling upon stuff in the wilderness. It starts to balance out some of the stupid stuff, and it is kinda fun to try different weapons and gear. Some of the most fun and intense moments for me have been when I'm weaponless, or fighting a horde with a hatchet. It's a shame that the depth and possibilities of this game is so lost on so many of you. Some of you should go play Arma2 or some other shooter and have it out with other snipers or PvP fanatics. I bet the best snipers actually play Arma2....

I died almost EXACTLY this way yesterday. I was badly wounded, but I was definitely NOT bleeding. One second I'm standing there perfectly fine, next second I fall over dead. I did however see that my blood had shown a negative value briefly, but I never saw or heard any damage done to my character. Most of us have been sniped before and know what that looks/sounds like.....

I still have yet to see a hacker.

I found a large camp for the first time when I was lost up north recently, and did not destroy the tents. In all honesty I just wanted to get out of there safely with my loot before the owners returned.

Yesterday.... Day 1, 119 kills, 1 murder (sorry "bub"), zeds chased me into getting lost in the northern wilderness for hours with no map, or compass, eventually starving, dehydrating; after hours of walking I stumble upon 2 vehicles in a small clearing! I gear up with top notch weapons, and eat, but there were no beverages. Driving south in a pickup like a boss... a few kilometers down the rode... game crashes and of course on spwaning I'm on foot again, but I still have the gear I found. I walk for another 5 or 10 minutes and come upon a large guild camp! 1 member was working on a new vehicle, while 2 others milled about. I didn't have a silenced rifle, and it would not have been wise to take on 3 guys either way, so I waited. After only a few minutes all 3 drove off in 3 separate vehicles, and I was left to raid the camp uninhibited! Here I found even more awesome rare gear, but still no beverages, map, or compass (plenty of food though). Another frantic few minutes of checking the area and I quickly became aware that the guild members could return at any moment and beat a hasty retreat out into the wilderness once more. After heading South again I safely situated myself in thick wilderness just outside of a large mid-map town before I logged off to take a break, and hoped to come back to find a drink for my character later. Returning to the game I logged into a different server partially out of fear of retribution from the clan for my brazen thievery, and partially because I found a server to my liking with only 6 other players on it. I spawned at the edge of town and without a fear in the world began circling the town for a proper hole in the zombie pattern where I could safely breach the town perimeter and search for a Pepsi. As I'm stupidly crab walking in a circle around the town in plain sight in a field, I'm sniped dead. The End.

I had a rough start with this game but I can see the results of my hard work. Yesterday I had "everything" at some point and was having my best save yet. Only 6 other players on server. I went into a northwestern town and walked out in the open looking to flank the Zeds, and BAM I'm sniped dead. Time to start over. I let my guard down too much, and I paid the ultimate price. My mistake.

NY2 Only upgraded to 95054. I guess it's bye bye tent. :(

I haven't seen a hacker yet either, but I'm 1,000% sure they are there. I'm trying to stay away from other players as much as possible anyway, and live like a mountain man. Too much KOS/Banditry/hacking paranoia in the air for this lone wolf.

Date/Time: 3:30 pm EST 7/18/12 What happened: Logged onto server after being sniped DEAD on a ladder in Electro to find myself spawned on the coast, no character select screen, with full health but unconscious and immediately began bleeding. Bled to 6190 blood but continued on slowest hourglass I have ever seen before the game finally reported, "session lost". Where you were: Electro area. What you were doing: Logging in, should have spawned a new character. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.3 and Beta 95054
